  1. Well, he does lead the team in homers. and strikeouts! which is impressive on this team! Now that Jenks is gone, that title is up for grabs!
  2. Two strikeouts, two singles, wild pitch. So that happened.
  3. That's brilliant!! And not completely out of the realm of possibility. There's no way this series happens without a few plunks.
  4. I absolutely CANNOT stand and have no patience for the wave because it is invariably done at the most inappropriate times in the game. Pitching changes? Sure. Blowouts? I'm ok with it. Runners in scoring position and the pitcher's struggling? I want to see the frickin' game, not your hands in the air!!!!
  5. I just really think the quality of FSN is so poor. It feels a little cable access to me. I keep trying to give it a chance, but it comes off a little "bush league" to me.
  6. Wasn't it on here that Turnbow was TurnBlownSave for awhile last season?
  7. You're an oxymoron! I know it doesn't make any sense - I used it to be silly. (as an aside, if you want to be the grammar police, I'm all for it, but I'm hardly the worst offender)
  8. I actually really liked Watching Baseball Smarter: A Professional Fan's Guide for Beginners, Semi-experts, and Deeply Serious Geeks by Zack Hample. Of course some of it is super simple, but it's a quick easy read and you can skip over the stuff you already know, but I learned a lot. Stupid little detail stuff and anecdotes were really good.
  9. Is it really too much to expect that a reliever could be available for two games in a row? I think I'm with the camp that says that a guy who has a set of stipulations that have to be met before we can put him in a game isn't someone who should be making big money or really even taking up space on a roster. I find it hard to believe that there's some fundamental physical difference between starters and relievers that allows starters to pitch 100 pitches but relievers to pitch 20-30 and not be able to do so again without rest. Maybe I'm wrong, but that thought doesn't jive in my head.
  10. I'm not too worried about either, yet. If Ryan doesn't settle down soon, I think we'll have cause for concern, but as mentioned above, for awhile Prince was swinging for the fences with every pitch. When he realized the weight wasn't all on his shoulders to go yard every time, he found his groove. It seems like me that Ryan's trying entirely to hard to be the superstar every at-bat. He does an interview on Kiss in Milwaukee every Thursday morning and for the most part it's fluff, but he did say that he goes directly to the video room after every AB to analyze his swing and the pitches, etc. IF that's the case, it's a little worrisome. If you see a pitcher the first go round, analyze his stuff and your approach and then the second go round do the same thing all over again, that's going to be a problem.
  11. Yeah, I guess I just never got the love affair with him, which you obviously do - so we're never going to see the same page.
  12. My favorite of the "don't know what they're talking abouts" is the guy who's trying to impress the girl. He's invariably wrong and she has no clue and is usually not at all interested. The best of these being "Look at that shift they have on" when everyone was in their normal spots. When a large shift was on later in the game, he had nothing to say. Sometimes it's hard not to laugh right out loud. I'm usually keeping score at the game and therefore am usually asked by people around me for details. This I don't mind. Also, if there's people behind me who are trying to find an answer to something and between the two of them can't decide who's right, I might chime in and give the answer.
  13. If you would have read what I said, at no time did I say that he didn't deserve to be cheered. In fact, my exact words were: "Certainly fans will clap for him, but I guess I feel like an internet campaign and printable signs is a bit over the top."
  14. With Jenks' strikeout numbers, that seems like a seriously odd choice for leadoff...

  17. Couldn't we compare Kapler's hot start to JJ's hot start last year?
  18. Hey, I certainly believe he shouldn't get booed - it's this idea that we owe him something because he came to work every day and did his job. I guess I don't understand. He made money here that he wouldn't have made anywhere else - that's why he was here for so long. I think it's silly to act like he stuck around out of some selfless act. Had he been a stand out and been offered better money elsewhere, he would have gone, same as any number of other guys that have left over the past few years. Certainly fans will clap for him, but I guess I feel like an internet campaign and printable signs is a bit over the top.
  19. I guess I'm not sure why we're supposed to be all excited about a former player just because he did what he's supposed to do, which is play the game hard and not act like a donkey. It's like he's reached mythical status merely for having played for a team that stunk and not getting arrested. Since when is that a reason to exalt his existence? I'm happy that Jenks found somewhere else to play and best of luck to him, but I just don't understand why he's on a pedestal for doing what he was getting paid A LOT of money to do.
  20. Yost addressed this in an article that showed up on the Brewers' website today. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080411&content_id=2516349&vkey=news_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil He basically says he's aware that Ryan hasn't had any walks, but not yet concerned. But if Ryan doesn't become more patient, they'll take him out of the 4 spot.
  21. Where exactly are you seeing him off too? Didn't we see him off last season when we gave him the ovation at the end of last season?
  22. Must be nice to only partially quote a thought to suit the needs of your argument.
  23. I think both sides are jumping to ridiculous conclusions and assumptions. There is not one person here who has any idea what is going on in Prince's head, stomach or on his dinner plate - and frankly, it's none of your damn business. I frankly find a lot of the discussion offensive in terms of how you're willing to make judgments on a man for his lifestyle choice. It's incredibly naive to think that you have any idea why Prince made this change. Prince's actual words about the switch to vegetarianism have amounted to about 4 sentences. That's about all the fact you can take from this and you should be smart enough to know that between the media outlet reporting the story and Prince wanting to keep some privacy, you're not getting the whole story. No one seemed to care last year when a couple guys spent the afternoon filming a soap opera or being on an aircraft carrier on the roadtrip to California, why do we care now that Prince is going on GMA? Remember that this is a small market team that will be getting national exposure tomorrow because of this.
