  1. Joe West is a clown, straight up. He deserves to be fired. Neither of those two moves were balks. If those were balks, that Chris Capuano would have balked every runner on first into home plate in 2006-2007. I give Buerhle credit for being as calm and collected as he was, and I think the glove "toss" was just out of pure disbelief. That was a personal attack by an umpire on a player/manager and if he isn't punished I will lose a lot of respect for MLB. MLB has a serious issue on their hands that they are turning a blind eye towards with regard to umpiring. While it isn't as controversial as the NBA issues its almost as bad.
  2. I really liked the ending and as mentioned the way it left things open for a movie. I can see a movie where Jack is hunted down by the Russians only to call on former friends (possibly Tony, Andrew Dice Clay and Chloe) for help. Maybe its set inside Russia where Jack has been captured and those guys go to help him escape....who knows. I do know I will miss the show though. Truly sad that it is over. I know a lot of the themes were played out and it was probably time, but I will really miss Jack Bauer.
  3. How can you say we have a terrible team? The back end of our bullpen is terrible or has been terrible, but this is now 6 games that we have had the lead after 8 innings. We are what 9-11 coming into today, so if those games aren't blown by two individuals (Hawkins/Hoffman) we are 15-5. To pin this on the entire team is ridiculous. As for the booing....let's not forget that Hoffman has only been in Milwaukee for 1 year. Honestly I couldn't care less that he has nearly 600 saves, as all but roughly 40 of them have come for other teams. As of this moment he is no better to us than Turnbow and Gagne. He has no history with Milwaukee other than one solid year and this year has been an absolute diaster. It's to the point where I see him coming in and I know he will blow it. I don't know if he's done or not, but I do know he does not deserve to be closing games for this team right now. Ken Macha has a responsibility to 24 other players on this team, not to the "History of Trevor Hoffman". You think Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, etc etc care about what Hoffman was doing when they were 10 years old. I don't care if he saved 15 million games for San Diego, that has no relevance on what he is doing to the Milwaukee Brewers right now, which is absolutely killing them. Get him out of that role Macha.....you moron.
  4. I honestly am rooting for "Deputy Braun" to voice his opinion on this game. Nothing would make me happier than to have him come out and blast Macha for being the idiot he is. Deputy make the call to the pen from left field!
  5. This Lose (and yes I know there is 1/2 inning to play but I am confident we will go down 1-2-3) is squarely on Macha and Peterson. If I am Melvin they are both in my office after this game and the conversation would be pretty one sided. I am really starting to dislike Mr. Macha quite a bit. What does Manny Parra have to do to get in a game? Why is Mitch Stetter on the roster.....oh yeah for exactly that situation.
  6. Anyone pick up The Show today? Was curious to know what everyone thought. I really enjoy 09 and I'm about 3 years into a Franchise so I have debated getting the new version. Any comments and/or comparisons would be greatly appreciated!
  7. Back from the game and I meant to take the camera but forgot. I will get to a few more games this year and will try to get some photos. Harper hit a two out 1-0 rocket up the middle in the first inning to drive in a run. He faced LHP Austin Wright who I believe was drafted last year. Harper batted left handed all night long which I found interesting because I thought he was a switch hitter (could be wrong about that). In his second at bat he rolled over a curveball and chop out to first base. He walked on four pitches in his third at bat and then struckout in his fourth appearance. I am no scout, but I personally would be a bit concerned about his timing mechanism. He does this foot plant where he turns his front foot in which seems a bit odd, but I don't know if it will hurt him in the future or not. Behind the plate he looked pretty solid. He blocked a few balls well and seemed to frame pitches pretty well. He's a big kid at 17. Listed at 6'3" 205 and that is legit. You figure he will probably fill out and add 15-20 lbs over the next few years on his frame so I am not sure long run that he will stick at catcher. It's one game so I am not going to speak to whether he was impressive or not, but one does have to remember he is 17 competing against mostly 19-20 year olds and he clearly isn't overmatched. Another name from the CSN squad to keep an eye out for come June is RH Reliever Tyler Hanks. He's a 6'2" 195 right-handed pitcher that can bring it. He was averaging 93-94 on the gun and topped out at 96 (he overthrew the pitch though and it was really high). He has a smooth delivery and the ball really gets on the hitters quickly. He completely overmatched the Chipola hitters in the 2 innings I saw him work. Just a brief recap.....I hope to provide more throughout the season!
  8. Heading over to CSN to watch Bryce Harper in person tonight. A friend of mine went last week and said there were 10-15 scounts in attendance. Does anyone know what the Brewers scout in this area looks like. I know it is hard to tell who is a scout and who isn't unless they are scouting pitchers, so I wanted to see if any of the knowledgable guys on hear knew the scout for the Brewers in Vegas (or on the west coast). Also, for Colby and the rest of the Draft Gurus is there anyone else on Bryce's team that you know of that is a possible prospect for the upcoming draft?
  9. Cristian Guerrero was in High Desert the year I really started following the young Brewer prospects via this site and I remember just being excited about him mainly due to his bloodlines. I was also guilty of a Dana Eveland bias....and Manny Parra for that matter. For the record I still think Manny will have a successful career, I just thought it would have translated a bit sooner.
  10. I actually get the feeling that this may signal that Gerut will be the starting RF for the Brewers this year and Corey Hart's days are numbered. I have a feeling (and it is nothing more than that) that Corey will be moved before spring training.
  11. Sorry I don't often check the Off-Topic board (Brian thank you again for pining this to the top but you can undo it if you would like!). The event was very nice. Kenny Lofton won the poker event and Russ's team won the golf event. He got a lot of "stuff" from the boys for winning his own event. The accommodations at the Ritz Carlton were fantastic and Rio Secco was in great shape just days before hosting the Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge. I was lucky enough to play in the event as well as helping to plan it and the celebrity in my group was Gar Ryness (aka Batting Stance Guy). He is a really cool guy and was a blast to play with. We talked early on, but I didn't want to just immediately ask him to start rattling off Brewers. On our third hole I rolled in a 15 footer for Birdie and I looked at him and said...."all right man now I need me some Ryan Braun!" His impression is just perfect. Overall it was a great event. If they do it again next year (still up in the air) they will stat planning it much earlier (late January/February) and I will keep everyone updated. Thanks for asking BrewersSC and Brian thanks again for allowing us to publicize the event here! Steve
  12. Yeah I read that last night as well, and it is (and the writer is as well) a complete joke. How nonsense like that article is even put in print is beyond me. There is absolutely no "reporting" to that article, just a poor attempt at satire and humor.
  13. MLB Trade Rumors is reporting that the White Sox have acquired Teahen for Fields and Getz. To me it seems like a pretty good deal for the Royals as they have 10 years of combined control between Fields and Getz. Both of them are younger players with at least decent upside. I wonder if they will move Fields to right field as you wouldn't think the Royals are ready to give up on Gordon at Third base
  14. Just out of curiousity where did Witrado write or blog that Braun is a possibility? I can't seem to find anything stating that and can't imagine a scenario where it would make sense to move him. I mean seriously with a contract like his and control until after 2015, that package better look like Matt Cain, Buster Posey and Madison Bumgarner.
  15. The Ortiz Family Foundation is still waiting on official word, but it is looking like Tim Lincecum will be taking part in the event as well! Steve
  16. I don't know why but I have a feeling the Brewers (if they end up doing so) will trade Prince to Tampa Bay for BJ Upton and a Wade Davis or Jeff Niemann type. I think Upton wants out of Tampa and with Jennings knocking on the door he is expendable. It would give the Brewers a middle of the order bat and a young centerfielder. I know he had a down year this year, but Upton has a ton of ability and would offset the PR loss that Fielder will be. If the Brewers can get a good young pitcher in the mix as well they might have to throw in a reliever but to me this makes a lot of sense for both teams. Is Upton/Davis or Niemann enough for Prince?
  17. Phx....sorry for the delayed reply I was out of town last week, but if you still need help with golf in Las Vegas please IM or email as I would love to help you out with some suggestions if you need help. My company books golf trips to Vegas and we can get you set up with some pretty good deals. You are coming out during a more expensive time of the year but we can still set you up on a solid course for $100.00 or less without much of a problem. Send me a message if you are interested with the dates you want to play and the number of players and I will see what I can get done for you. Steve

  19. There is absolutely no way we would be able to pull Lester, Papelbon, Bard and Ellsbury for Fielder. Look I love Prince as much as the next guy but if we could make that trade Prince would be on the next flight to Boston. Jon Lester is one of the best (if not the best) left handed pitchers in baseball when considering age, cost, etc. Papelbon is an All-Star closer. Ellsbury is a protypical leadoff guy and a good CF to boot along with being very young and Bard is arguably their top prospect. If we could get that kind of package I would do back flips and I have a feeling Mr. Melvin would as well!
  20. Kudos to Mark for making that statement. People may say he is too involved, but you know what this is HIS operation. He is in tune with what is going on on the field and in the stands. I do not think they should allow the fans booing to influence their decisions all the way, but what he said about last nights performance is 100% accurate. The organization as a whole should be embarrassed by the performance on the field over the last 60 days. The pitching staff is an absolute joke (aside from Gallardo) and players like Hardy, Hall, Hart, and Kendall just flat out are not getting the job done.
  21. Just a question...could the outrighting of Hall and JJ's rumored trade be one in the same move wise. Possible the Brewers sending the two of them for a pitcher with a bigger contract?
  22. It's no longer a mystery. MLBtraderumers is reporting that he was indeed claimed by the White Sox and the Blue Jays will not receive anything in return. Simply shedding the contract.
  23. Wow Gwynn Sr. just said Looper has been the Brewers best pitcher this year. Tony how about you do just a little research before going into the booth. The Brewers have this Gallardo kid that is pretty impressive. Heck...you son may played a game or two with him as he blew by him in the system!
  24. Bobskube, No that this trade has been made I was wondering if you would mind enlightening us on something. When that trade talked occured earlier in June (or maybe it was late May) you had reported that the Brewers were planning on moving on one of two pitchers. The timing of Peavy's injury made me think that it might have been the Brewer's physical that showed how bad Peavey's injury was and I think he was most likely pitcher A. Who was pitcher B that they would turn their attention to at that time. I remember you saying it was no one mentioned in the thread. Can you share that with us know that it is obvious we are not picking anyone up. Unless it was Claudio Vargas:)
  25. According to MLB Network the Blue Jays offered Roy Halladay to the Mets for Fernando Martinez, Bobby Parnall, Jonathan Niese and SS Rubin (Sorry forgot last name). The Mets turned them down and said they are not interested. Okay so what is our equivelant in a deal like this?
