  1. So Wiemer just swings at the first pitch. That's a thing.
  2. Welcome back old friends. Can't wait for another roller coaster season. Cheers to opening day!
  3. Surprise roster addition: Caleb Boushley breaks camp with the Suter role in the bullpen.
  4. Not sure we need to know the answer to that right now. Plenty of time until opening day. What this does is gives us lots of options as we continue to configure a ball club for 2023. Maybe we start the season with 8 starting pitchers on the roster. Maybe we trade one or two of them in the next 3 months. I would wager that Matt + crew don't know that yet. We have options now that we didn't have at this time yesterday and for the price, I think Matt did well here. Great problem to fall into.
  5. Except the lineup additions of Winker and Contreras really did nothing to our payroll so we should, assumably, still have a move or two ahead of us for our starting lineup before the season starts. I actually really like the current lineup as presented as well - but I think and hope another improvement awaits.
  6. The ONLY downside I see to this trade is that a lot of fans are going to raise their expectations of what 'good' trades look like. It will make any future moves a bit of a burden to read these boards. "That's it? We got Contreras + 2 arms for Ruiz and all we got for XX was YY?!" I'm kidding but I'm not but you know what I mean. What a day.
  7. I really hope at some point soon Suter takes on a bench coach role with us if he is interested.
  8. Suter to Boushley is going to be a lateral move production wise and will save the club 2.5 million, I like Suter but this move probably had to be made.
  9. Ok, champ. You echoed the sentiment. That means you agreed without repeating the same words.
  10. So you switch from saying he hits a ton of weak ground balls to agreeing he hits hard ground balls. You aren't stating facts, you are offering your opinion as fact. Just be careful when doing so.
  11. I do believe Kolton's WAR deserves to go up a full point after tonight.
  12. It's go time. The Phillies have 4 against the Braves while we have 4 against the Reds. It has to happen now.
  13. Walters to the Angels. Have the Brewers really not made a trade with Colorado since '04?
  14. Golly. Turns out they might have promoted Mitchell because he can play.
  15. Well I've seen about enough of this Mitchell kid. Send him back down.
  16. Where have you seen or heard he had a bad relationship with Milwaukee?
  17. Here's to hoping he is the new Jeffress. Come on home Josh.
  18. Your reason for Ruiz over Mitchell is because he is on the 40-man ... so them choosing Mitchell over Ruiz would tell you they think he is more ready for this spot DESPITE the 40 man hurdle. It's actually the opposite of your conspiracy.
  19. Counsell took the bat out of his hands. That one isn't on Victor.
  20. Need someone who can hit lefties. Unfortunately, Aguilar has a negative WAR this year and is hitting LHP worse than RHP.
  21. Jeremy Jeffress 2.0?
  22. but had we gotten Joey Gallo we would be the favorites right?
  23. You are probably not wrong but that's impossible to say without him playing at the next level. Suter had a career 3.3+ ERA in the minors with an unfavorable WHIP and he has been a useful bullpen piece the last few years.
  24. Fair enough. I just saw lefties were hitting sub .225 against him. So he gets them out at a good rate but when they hit him ... it has meaning.
