  1. In Stearns' comments about the Escobar trade he talked about the importance of covering themselves in all scenarios for the stretch run. This seems like one of those insurance deals to get another lefty in the pen in case we need one down the way maybe?
  2. The Pirates just tweeted they have recalled RHP Max Kranick from AAA. Assuming that means he is starting for them tonight. Made his debut about a month ago for them...
  3. Because Jace Peterson has arguably had the most consistent bat in our lineup the last 3+ weeks. Would you rather Tellez be hitting right now or Peterson? I think the point was questioning if there was really a need to trade for Rowdy in the first place, not whether he should currently be playing over Jace. I get it, but it was a small piece of insurance that cost us only Trevor Richards. It Wong's injury doesn't heal as expected and Vogelbach is out for the full duration of his expected time frame - we are running out Hiura exclusively until Shaw comes back? Tellez could very well end up not getting 50 at bats with us this year but I personally still wouldn't be upset with the move. We covered a 'what if' scenario and it didn't cost us anything. Cousins and Sanchez made Richards expendable. I'm happy Wong is back and we don't need Rowdy.
  4. Because Jace Peterson has arguably had the most consistent bat in our lineup the last 3+ weeks. Would you rather Tellez be hitting right now or Peterson?
  5. Looking at the two pictures posted on the lead page here ... Is Eric Lauer just looking at himself in 10 years tonight pitching against Miley?
  6. I think you are thinking about Khris Davis. Dang it, you are correct. I just looked. Here I thought I was a good fan too. Ugh.
  7. Say what you will about Hernan Perez but if I'm remembering correctly the guy hit exactly .249 in like 3 or 4 straight seasons with a little pop and position versatility. You knew EXACTLY what you were going to get out of him and the culture of the teams he was apart of with himself, Arcia, Pina, etc were some of the best we will remember. All the best Hernan.
  8. Alright Strickland, your turn. We can take a little shrapnel, but just need you to eat about 6 outs here.
  9. So the Brewers have a 10 run, an 8 run, and a 5 run inning in this series against the Cubbies. Dang.
  10. Can't imagine he plays again this year ... but this is amazing news. His career arc shouldn't be altered. As it happened last night I immediately thought next year was in doubt. AMAZING news.
  11. I don't know if you caught why. Lauer checked his swing on that 2-1 pitch outside and the camera cut to Counsell who was visibly scowling and he yelled to Lauer "HEY!? DON'T SWING!" ... that's why Adames broke.
  12. Sanchez gets through 2.1 in 28 pitches and I kind of want to sign him to a 4 yr, $60million dollar deal. #ashbyarrietaeffect
  13. We have 4 guys in our starting lineup hitting over .200. Less than half. Lol?
  14. Strickland has been added to the active roster. With the string of consecutive games we are in and our bullpen needing varying degrees of rest... can't imagine he will be on the bench very long. If Counsell does as Counsell does, Strickland will be pitching tonight.
  15. this has been stated by 180 people 3000 different times ... but looking at the averages up and down our lineup is shocking every time you do it.
  16. Have to imagine Shaw is on the shelf for a long time. Do we ride with Urias/Peterson, etc or does the old clubhouse favorite Hernan get a call?
  17. Drew Pomeranz (w/ Ray Black), Xavier Cedeno, and Jeremy Jeffress are some other relievers they’ve acquired in-season during the Stearns tenure. Speaking of Jeffress... I know '19 wasn't great but he pitched well in Chicago last year. Why hasn't he been given a chance somewhere?
