  1. Great time for Burch to get rid of some nerves. Let him finish this out? Great job tonight Peralta.
  2. Hiura is going to force a decision in the not so distant future. Either Thames is moved and Moose goes to 3rd and Shaw becomes the LHB platoon with Aguilar and backup at 3B or??
  3. Yeah, I'm not sure the above is an accurate take of Grandal's defensive abilities.
  4. I thought it was notable that Braun went to right for 4 of his hits. One infield chopper towards short and then the rocket out to left center... Bill Schroeder must have been so pleased.
  5. This may be a silly question but they have changed the rules now twice so I'm not real sure .. "They may as well have IL'ed him" Are we not able to retroactively put him (Yelich) there like in past years?
  6. Cain Yelich Grandal Shaw Braun Thames Perez Arcia Houser Moose sits with his injury and Thames (thankfully) getting the start against the RHP. Expecting 2 hits from Houser and 2 hits from the rest of them.
  7. His 3rd HR was left of center. Here is Arcia’s career home run log. ok, so not only is my memory wrong but very wrong. Must just be this season he is flexing to right a bit more..
  8. Have all of Arcia's home runs the last 2 seasons been to right? I can't remember his last pull that left...
  9. Remember when we acquired him last year and the projections were coming out about Miller Park being LHB friendly and "could he manage 25 HRs?" ... 30 was a laugh for most of us. Dude might hit 50 of them this year..
  10. I don't really have an opinion one way or the other - however is protecting his Super 2 status the most important aspect of the thought process right now? That's a legit question for those who may know. This isn't a 72 win club we have .. and the 3-1 losses against LA with a LHP where a few good at bats could change the outcome of the game are games we can't throw away. Last year proved that. I don't know what Hiura's bat is worth in a 2-3 month sample and obviously am expecting an improvement from all 3 of the above mentioned starters ... but IF Hiura's bat in the lineup is a 2 game difference from now until an eventual call up in June/July ... he has to come up and play right now right?
  11. I guess I don't get it. We are already in the 8th, when will Yelich hit his HR today?
  12. Random thought, can we deny the DH when offered in an AL matchup and instead just have someone ready to run for him once the pitcher puts the ball in play?
  13. Arcia probably won’t hit much better than he has so far, and Moustakas is doing just fine but will never be a high average hitter. Shaw, Braun, and Aguilar have all been struggling and more production from them would really help, especially since Yelich and Grandal aren’t going to be hot all the time. Why? He is like 24 or something. His offensive game is absolutely transformable and growth should be expected. 2 years ago he hit near .275 with reasonable power.
  14. When does Braun get moved down in the order to relieve some pressure he may or may not be giving himself? Hovering right at the Mendoza Line now... I know he will snap out of it... but while he is figuring it out, no reason to keep stranding Yelich on base.
  15. I'm guessing the answer is yes to everything you said. I think Gamel starts once with Braun as the DH, Thames starts twice with Aguilar/Gamel as the DH and Perez gets a 2B start with Moustakas getting a DH spin once. Counsell has never been a manager to run a straight strategy (in this regard) so I'm sure everyone will take their turn to keep everyone fresh/usable. Also, we know how Thames is in terms of streakiness... he has two straight years of early season mashing. If these last two home runs are indication of one of those streaks ... get him his at bats.
  16. As per the conversation we had last night, expecting Perez to stay in the lineup and Moose to get his first night off tonight. Let's run them!
  17. Gosh that 1-5 start for the Cubs is fun to see. Would be such a nice start to the season if we can take 2 of 3 here. I am expecting Perez to get a start either tonight or tomorrow (both?) against the LHP. FWIW, Travis Shaw is 1-16 lifetime against Quintana... Perez is 8-25 (.320). Moustakas is .250 lifetime against him. Tomorrow against Hamels, Perez is 6-11 (.545) ... neither Shaw or Moose have faced him. Might be a good time to get a few at bats for Hernan.
  18. How does this guy compare to Claudio?
