  1. If Colorado wins, can we call the Cole Hamels trade the worst in MLB history? Ignites the Brewers by talking down to the city and its fans ... Brewers then go on a torrid streak to win the Central and force a playoff which then eliminates the Cubs. I'm 60% joking.
  2. Umm, if we are talking 2nd tier with Ben Ogilvie and the like... Lorenzo Cain 2018 needs to be on the list.
  3. Game ball Chacin. Game ball Yelich. Game ball Arcia. Game ball Counsell. Great job guys. Way to do it, let's go make a run!
  4. Biggest game since Game 5 against AZ years ago... Gosh I want this one real bad. What a ride to get here. These last few weeks have been incredible. Enjoy it all tomorrow friends!
  5. I think it is pretty simple: Start Guerra, if you have a lead, empty the pen. If we aren’t leading just don’t use your good relievers...then it’s mostly a bullpen day Tuesday. Guerra just pitched today.
  6. I kind of want Counsell to start Granderson against the rightie and lead him off. Cain 2nd, Yeli 3rd. Give Yelich a better chance at some runners on base..
  7. I really really hope we are playing to win this game no matter what the Cubs do or are doing. The only way we aren't using our best arms is if we are down 18-0 in the 8th... and even then we are using Jennings, Barnes, etc or guys who might be needed this year yet who haven't thrown as much lately. You play to avoid the sudden death game at all reasonable costs.
  8. Side note: "It's Our Turn" might be my favorite slogan pitched thus far. That suits our fan base well I think. Kudos.
  9. I've never wanted a guy to come through more than Schoop in that at bat. This and the Jordan Lyles game are my two favorites from this season thus far.
  10. A win tonight does one of two things. It requires St. Louis to likely need 2 of 3 from Chicago to get in, in which case the Brewers would need 2 of 3 from the Tigers to win the division outright and top seed in the playoffs. So if we win tonight St. Louis is essentially eliminated OR the Brewers will get the top seed in the tournament. I'd rather have the 2nd thing obviously, but the first thing is a nice consolation prize for our efforts.
  11. The "clutch" stat on that chart tells you most of what you need to know I think. Yelich has delivered in needed situations time and time again this year. Over a .400 difference in OPS with 2 out, RISP from Baez. If those numbers on the chart are accurate.. this MVP race isn't close at all.
  12. What a season. Start Jennings tomorrow. Make them move Carpenter down in the order.
  13. Just getting home from work and catching up on things. Starting Dan Jennings for one hitter is the most Cardinals thing that has ever been done to the Cardinals and I love it way too much. I hope Jennings starts the remaining two games as well.
  14. That still just change the fact that Betts' dWar this season is better than Trout's. I think Trout might be the better defender at a more premiere position. There is good argument thought that Mookie Betts was a more valuable defensive outfielder in 2018 than Mike Trout and in considering who is the MVP this year ... that matters.
  15. My guess is Guerra for 2 or 3 then a full fledged inning by inning approach. I secretly want to see Corbin get his first big league start and see how it goes.
  16. I think most people didn't realize/remember the Marlins moved Stanton UP in the order last year ahead of Yelich because teams weren't pitching to him. I remember a lot of "well he had Stanton protecting him so he got pitches to hit" but that wasn't true. Ozuna was behind him yes... but Yelich earned his numbers last year.
  17. You seem to be putting a lot of emphasis on the 0 number. Yes, it is impressive to play error free baseball at any position, but it isn't unprecedented by any means and doesn't tell much of a defensive story at all. Ryan Braun's first year in the OF (2008) was error free with (roughly) the same amount of chances Trout has this year. It can be done. Charlie Blackmon has only one error this year with more chances than Trout. So the difference between those two numbers is one play out of many. However Charlie Blackmon is not in the same universe as Trout defensively. I would caution you have so much ammo at your disposal as to why Trout adds value on defense and is an MVP candidate ... that "0" number shouldn't be near the top of the list. Just my thoughts.
  18. Hold on tight all. Things bought to get fun in the NL Central..
  19. If the Brewers can get 2 of 3 and the White Sox can somehow take 2 of 3 from the Cubs ... the last week will be really fascinating. Being back a game and a half with the Cubs up against a pesky Pirates team then a (hopefully) fighting for its playoff lives Cardinals team would be a great thing to watch. One game at a time. Hopefully Cain is good to go. Granderson for Braun tonight?
  20. Yup. Now if the Brewers logo was "Show Me Some Love" or something even remotely incorporating Cain and Co. and their sprinkle fingers... I'd consider so I'd have the reminder of the season and what it was... but I digress.
  21. The Cardinals and Cubs finishing against each other is nice in that it will either make getting the home game wild card game easier (if Cubs win that series) or make a possible division title possible (if STL does). I love meaningful baseball.
  22. Oof. Lopez got rocked tonight. 1 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 0 BB, 0 K. Tough one.
