  1. I'll give you the Goldschmidt example and raise you a Matt Carpenter example of the same.
  2. If the Cubs do get rained out .. do we think they just push their rotation all back a day and we would get Montgomery tomorrow or will they skip him and keep the rest on regular rest? We sure are facing a lot of lefties as of late.
  3. Great internal discussion whether Cain or Yelich has been more valuable to our own team, but as someone mentioned above defense seems to take a backseat in award voting so I would assume Yelich will yield more national MVP attention than Cain. If Yelich's September can mirror his August (that is a LARGE request) he will have his name in the discussion I would think. But yes, I think I agree it is Carpenter's to lose at this point.
  4. This. We are in a pennant race, we need all forms of superstitions in play. Not blue font.
  5. He is obviously re-coiling but the bat is still well within the strike zone and he made contact. I don't know the rule, but my follow up question to those who are saying he was no longer offering would be 'if his intent is to pull the bat back and not make contact but he does, how is that any different than the intent of a batter who starts to swing but then decides not to and "offers" " ... the latter no longer has the intent to swing but is punished if he can't check. Without knowing the rule of "intent" this seems like a pretty easy strikeout to me.
  6. The craziest thing to me was that when the umpires convened the home plate umpire very clearly said "It hit his bat?" to the 3rd base ump, who shook his head yes. I couldn't really believe that he missed it.
  7. One would think losing to Harvey would have a funny effect on the fan base, especially if he vastly out pitches the guy he was viably going to replace. Brewers win this one though. Thames gets the start and rakes. Yelich does Yelich things.
  8. Hello all! A quick apology and clarification from myself. Reilly's post here was made the morning after I was banned for a post I made in an IGT thread a week ago so I have a feeling I had something to do with it. My ban was just lifted in the last hour so I want to clarify a thing or two and ask a question. First off, I am taking full responsibility for the situation and accepted the punishment. I was trying to be funny and didn't consider that wouldn't come through clearly. The intent of my post was humor only and I will say that upon getting my posting privileges back today, I had some messages in my inbox from that night and following morning from people thanking me for the laugh and keeping things light in the IGT. I had to inform them I got a week's ban from it I am reliving this for two reasons. First, the moderator who banned me thought I was calling LouisEly a nerd, when I was jokingly referring to David Stearns. Rereading what I wrote I can see how it was taken that way ... but I was actually on LouisEly's side when I was replying to him. Nevertheless, I reached out to the mod after being banned and requested they make sure LouisEly knew I wasn't calling him that name in the post. I never got a response from the moderator so I don't know if that happened. LouisEly, if you read this, I wasn't calling you a nerd! I promise you. My apologies if you took it that way. My bad! Secondly, I was a bit saddened by how the whole thing went down. I understand why my post was taken by some to be crossing the line and obnoxious.. and I maybe even deserved to be shelved for a week but I was banned without a conversation other than a "went on rant in IGT and called poster a 'nerd'" message on my profile and when I reached out to make sure the poster I was replying to knew I meant no harm and wasn't targeting him ... I received no response. Is the general policy that posters get banned and the conversation will happen when they return or what are the general rules? I've been selectively posting on these boards for over a decade and this is the first time I've gotten a slap on the wrist and I'm curious if there is ever a chance to explain oneself? Just curious. Thanks for all you guys do! Still the best collection of Brewers fans on the net. Sorry for the trouble last week. LFO
  9. I think you got pretty much every chicken little argument there.
  10. If he goes another inning without giving up an earned run he gets credit for a quality start. Doesn't matter if he gets a quality start because back the 90s Cal Eldred ended up being a flop so the Brewers have a history of not producing home grown pitching and because of that the Cubs got Daniel Murphy and now that Darvish is out for the year Stearns still made a bad call signing Chacin who is TERRIBLE away from Petco. I'm done with this team. Traded away ALL of our top prospects for a few rentals and Yelich doesn't even have a good launch angle and Thames isn't a .300 hitter like he was in Asia so that was false advertising and now that Scooter fixed his swing the Brewers don't have a good 2nd baseman because Schoop is terrible. Done with this team. Even if we make the playoffs its not like we are going anywhere probably just lose the play in game and even if we win that it doesn't matter because we couldn't get Archer. I promise you Wade Miley isn't going to amount to anything. Should've just signed Lynn or AT LEAST traded for him, but no... Khris Davis is another name I can say out loud. This team is so Brewers. I'm done. I'm just done. I want everyone to know how much I know about baseball and it is SOOOOOO like Travis Shaw to keep trying to pull outside pitches and why wasn't Hader brought in in the 3rd when Guerra was in trouble, could have saved us 3 runs and we'd be winning. I would've traded Knebel this offseason because relievers all fall apart just look at Papelbon. I'm so done with this team. Why do I even turn the TV on? If Ted Thompson would have just traded for Moss... ahh, dang it sorry... and why can't Kratz catch a baseball? If Hader was pitching there he would have caught it. It is so like the Brewers to only score 5 runs on this scrub and then not score any for 2 innings. Terrible offense. This defense is terrible too. Today was the worst I've seen in any game since the Bill Spiers days and I've seen A LOT of games. Trust me. I'm a huge baseball fan and I know a lot. Jeff D'Amico, Jeff Juden, Kevin Seitzer. Look at all the names I know. This is unforgivable. Just wait, I promise I won't watch another game if they don't come back and win this. I'm so done. The Cardinals got Mat Adams. What a talent that guy is but we just sit here with our guys like they are suppose to improve on their own. What a waste. Taylor Green never got a fair chance. That's on Stearns. He should have known about Yelich's launch angle. Do your homework you nerd. I'm out.
  11. Because their current record would have them invited into the post season.
  12. Well, for one, he has only played for about 2 months - he was hurt for a long time. His bat is coming around over the past 3 weeks, though. I know, he is hitting well. I am trying to talk myself into this not being a big deal..
  13. Is this the same Daniel Murphy who holds a -.8 WAR on the season?
  14. I'm not sure giving both of our .300 hitters the day off is appropriate when we are wanting to go on a little run here? Someone needs to get on base! Thames will already be replacing Braun today if Thames is healthy... so if we insist on Broxton getting a start it would be at the expense of Cain or Yelich which is fine if one of them needs a rest, but please not both?
  15. Two consecutive wins is a winning streak and I think it would cure so much of what is ailing this fan base right now. Come on Junior...
  16. I don't have a strong feeling either way about hitting Shaw there or not but isn't there a little merit to a guy like Shaw, who has been up and down this year, heading into tomorrow with his last at bat being a go-ahead home run and maybe building on some confidence rather than putting him in a tough spot against the Lefty and taking that chance?
  17. Go look at Brauns career numbers against Bailey and then edit your post. Go look at Thames and edit your post. I said nothing about Thames not starting. I was defending the decision to play Braun.
  18. Go look at Brauns career numbers against Bailey and then edit your post.
  19. If the Brewers go on a nice little run here it will only be because they're just good enough to beat the bad teams & can't hang with the actual good teams. If they keep the winning up & clinch a wild card spot it won't really matter because they aren't good enough to win one game much less make a deep postseason run. If they do shock the naysayers & make a deep postseason run, but ultimately come up short of winning the World Series it will be a wasted season because Stearns didn't go all in enough to win it all when we had the chance. If they truly blow the world's collective mind & win it all, it will still be difficult to get excited about because our farm system isn't as strong as it was a year ago before our top prospects graduated or were traded for legitimate MLB players. haha, this is my favorite post of the past week or so.
