  1. Arm has got to be loose for Sproat with the heat.. I wonder if he can get to 101 on the gun today.
  2. This is a good thought. Good way to utilize the DH quirk by adding some innings to the bullpen now by making that roster spot a shuttle position while not exactly taking Gasser completely out of the rotation.
  3. You literally used it as THE reason for concern haha.
  4. By my count, when Andrew Vaughn starts the Brewers are 21-12 on the year (.636%). When he doesn't start they are 7-4 (.636%). So by the logic above the Brewers are no better as a team when Vaughn starts vs when he is on the bench, correct? Or are there MANY other outside factors that play into 9 innings of a game that pinning success on one player is a little crazy?
  5. Yep. Not arguing against upgrading the roster. But when we face Abbott tomorrow and Perkins starts the IGT will lose it's mind again against Murphy for playing him. Given the options available to him ... it is the right call. Just more misplaced anger. Talk to Arnold about the roster upgrades. Perkins in June .320/.414/.560/.974
  6. I'd be curious what BF.Net users think the guys rank (who can play outfield for us on the current roster) in terms of OPS against LHP without looking it up (Chourio, Yelich, Mitchell, Bauers, Frelick, Perkins). If we want our best offensive lineup out there against a lefty there are two pretty big outliers of that group who should not be playing and I'm assuming it would surprise most. If we don't want Yelich playing the field ... Perkins should start. Not having another option to replace Perkins on the overall roster is a different conversation.
  7. Stats are just puzzle pieces. They are interesting and help decipher the overall riddle. The Brewers have the 22nd best team OPS against LHP in baseball (.679). They have the 6th best team OPS against RHP in baseball (.756). Perk only starts against LHP - when the whole team 'struggles'. Not trying to twist a narrative. Just reporting actually data that is available.
  8. Can I say something about the whole Vaughn/Frelick debate just as an observation without restarting the fire? Just observing, no sides taken. If Frelick is going to perform as good as Vaughn against RHP... being able to have Vaughn available to deploy in a game altering moment is an insane luxury, particularly when we can get him in against a LHP. (I'm on my phone and will be on the road the majority of this morning so I don't really have the capability to look this up myself..) But just in the last few weeks I can think of the game against the Reds when Vaughn pinch hit against the lefty with the bases loaded, cleared the bases, and I think we won that game by one run? I also remember a game in Colorado when Vaughn had an RBI pinch hit in the 9th, maybe even to tie the game, and we won in extras if I'm not mistaken? If anyone has a second to look this up (otherwise I will try to later tonight when I'm home) ... How many game altering moments has Vaughn been a part of when he has been put into the game that he hasn't started? Part of the stat above with the Brewers winning a high % of Sal's starts might directly be correlated with having an Ace ready to deploy when the game hangs on the balance late. Just a thought.
  9. I didn't like the Vaughn pinch run decision either. Glad it didn't come back to bite losing the bat. Murphy also going Yelich/Bauers back to back ended up getting us 2*. Fair is fair on the call outs.
  10. From a baseball standpoint Joey has 'earned' the demotion to a platoon guy this year and to a question mark for his future. From a human standpoint he has watched the Brewers give away his job in the future to a kid who hadn't even debuted yet, paid that kid a lot more money than he has ever been offered, then had them call up the kid later/now to take his job permanently. That's a lot for any player to process mentally over the course of a few months. From both a baseball and human standpoint that was an awesome moment for him. That was a primal roar he let out around the bases.
  11. Congrats to Josiah. Well earned.. and just about the only time he will ever be going from Appleton to Biloxi for a break in the heat.
  12. If we are comparing this website to the college experience the main boards are the gen eds, the minor league forum/draft forum, etc are your specialty courses with senior professors and upper classmen, and the IGT is the frat party. Sometimes a good time but the tempo and temperature of the whole party is usually determined by the loudest and most obnoxious of the attendees. Casuals will reveal themselves pretty often - my advice is just block/ignore them when they show and it will clean up the entire board experience for you. The IGT is still useful because most people have eyes on the game so if you can only listen or follow along online and want to know specifics of a play you can get an answer pretty quickly from someone ... But yes, not a ton of quality conversation happens at the frat parties. Watch out for vomit.
  13. Lockridge, Hall, and Henderson fix a lot of the issues both in bullpen stability and with Perk. I think if you are expecting Arnold to add half a dozen guys to this roster at the deadline (barring injuries) you are going to be very disappointed IMO. We will add a bullpen arm or two and MAYBE a depth starter if we sustain any more injuries.
  14. We are a good team and we got one. They are a good team and they got one. All things equal we are the better team and as long as we take care of business and win the series today, it is a great weekend.
  15. Nashville is currently in a rain delay. If they resume playing tonight, we'll be on watch to see if Lara gets pulled.
  16. *Rams But I think you are actually validating the case against the position you are trying to hold. BECAUSE so many top prospects don't pan out and BECAUSE the Brewers rely on youth in larger capacities than most teams - We need as much of it as possible so the aggregate is positive. When most of them inevitably don't work out... We have the remaining few who do to contribute. If it is true that we are not any better at identifying amateur talent as you suggest (yet we need it more than other teams) doesn't it stand to reason we need as much amateur talent as possible? If we start trading away the better prospects we have and then the guys that we bet on don't pan out .. there is nothing left.
  17. He still has a path to the MLB roster this year (maybe?) but it involves a Jake Bauers injury (knock on wood). As soon as next year though Burke probably takes that spot from him? I could see Tyler Black being one of those guys who ends up in Miami and gives them a few years of .245/.320/.370 non pressure production.
  18. This already places him tied for 8th amongst Brewers hitters with Yelich (also .5 bWAR). Next up in his sights in Hamilton (.9 bWAR). Coop has been an awesome realization. The bottom 3 in the lineup yesterday (Mitchell, Pratt, Hamilton) is just a world of difference from a month ago (Frelick, Rengifo, Ortiz).
  19. He and Braylon Owens are older college kids who are playing well. If I had to bet a nickel on a position player and a pitcher those would be my guesses but I know nothing.
  20. Cardinals get 3 hit by the Fish and the Cubs retain 2nd place. The lead is 7.5
  21. Fielding Bible has Pratt already at 2 DRS? Is that possible after his first 9 games? That would put him tied for 10th (tied with Ortiz) for all of MLB Shortstops? Fielding Bible
  22. We are days away from Ragsdale passing up Payne in OPS and that is not saying anything bad against Payne.
