  1. My whole take on this trade changed when Arnold said Gordon was someone they had targeted for awhile. He was the get. If the trade was Fielder for Gordon straight up I would have been good with it after hearing Arnold's comments. The fact we take McCullers as our penance and get to use his arm for a bit to save Harrison a few more innings + ... This feels overall positive.
  2. Yeah I hope we can trade every one of our DH only A ball guys who is treading water for a 5yr of control AAA pitcher and a vet. No offense to Jadyn at all and I hope he makes it someday. But this is just very good asset management. One additional home playoff game pays for this entire scenario.
  3. Gordon still with an option year and 5 years of control.
  4. Wait a sec, was Gordon the target and our cost to acquire him was by taking on and paying McCullers for the year and stashing him on our IL?
  5. The Brewers have two different starting pitching needs 1) Innings to get through the season 2) A top end guy to take down the Dodgers. They could get that in one person. They don't have to. They might not get that 2nd person at all and just roll with their young guys This helps the first part. Vet guy whose arm you can abuse. Hopefully bringing him back into a competitive playoff run reinvigorates him. Will wait on compensation going back...
  6. Durbin was my 4th over Dubon. Admittedly, I didn't realize Dubon had put together such a good summer stretch. What a season he is having.. After a disastrous start ... Durbin has come all of the way back to be worth 2.2 WAR (BRef) .. which is better than every position player we have other than Turang. Also, shout out to Bryan Hudson ... really nice bounce back year with the White Sox. Would love to throw him back in the mix...
  7. Deliberate vs Debate You debate to win an argument. You deliberate to learn about a topic. Too many people here try to 'win' every time they say something and in almost every case, none of us know anything so it is a waste of time to speak in absolutes. We are all just here to learn and pass along information or offer perspectives. The IGT specifically and these boards in general would get infinitely better if people starting deliberating and stopped debating.
  8. I saw this question posed on X and I thought it made for good discussion and also a fun little trip down memory lane in some cases. Which current player around the league, who at one time played for the Brewers or was in the Brewers farm system, would you most like back on this year's team for the stretch run? You are getting the player as is - so you can't take prime Corbin Burnes or prime Devin Williams ... you are getting them in their July 2026 form. I have thought this through a bit and in my opinion I have 4 guys who I could argue to be the answer and then a handful of other guys who are fun to think about or who are having nice seasons .. but unless I am missing someone I think a case could be made for 4 different individuals that would help us out the most. I'll be interested to hear who you all come up with.
  9. For sure, and that's more so what I meant. If Hamilton is going to need extra time grabbing a guy makes sense. If this was just going to be a one game situation that I'm not sure it would be worth it.
  10. This does give me a little pause about Hamilton's injury. Would the Brewers really make a trade for someone to get two at bats against Skenes and then cut him loose when Hamilton is eligible to come off the IL before next weekend?
  11. I expect Andrew Vaughn 2.0 and will accept nothing less.
  12. Just looked up when he was drafted... 21st overall in the 2019 draft. One pick ahead of... Greg Jones.
  13. I'm doing paper napkin math here but I'm pretty sure Yelich's OPs against RHP just dropped below his OPS against LHP on the season which is .... troublesome.
  14. Curt Hogg says Stallings is here and appears to be the 27th man today. Gasser up for Harrison. Gasser is on 3 days rest ... I imagine he will be avoided this weekend but could offer assistance if needed out of the pen against their lefties, especially tomorrow.
  15. The Brewers did/do have a quiet problem with the amount of young arms they are relying on and the end of season question for most of them on innings count. Wilson wants a major league job and the Brewers need a few arms they can (respectfully) abuse through the summer to hopefully save a few innings on the young arms and pen. Seems like a good fit for both as long as he can tread water while here. Welcome back Bryse! Sorry you had to play for the Cubs.
  16. It's more a curiosity to me than anything why the IGT grumps protect Vaughn but ridicule EVERYONE else. Sanchez swings at a ball out of the zone "undisciplined". Turang goes 0-4 "only cares about launch angle". Ashby grooves a fastball "we can't trust him in October". Mitchell strikes out "will forever have a hole in his swing". Vaughn goes 4-23 to start July with 1 xbh and no RBI (against mainly rhp!) and leaves 8000 men on base.... "must be hard for him to get in a groove" "bad luck at bats" "everyone goes through these spells" "free Vaughn!" I like the guy too... but y'all are funny.
  17. I know you all hate stats but you can't just keep saying this without any proof. Brewers Batting Vs Right-Handed Pitching In 2026 After today, Vaughn's OPS against RHP dropped below Hamilton's. Out of 14 guys on the team with at least 50 PA against righties this year Vaughn is 12th ahead of just Joey Ortiz and Luis Rengifo. His mashing against LHP is skewing your view of him.
  18. Boeve is punching at the .300 door after tonight. Is it crazy think to get him a boatload of 3B reps and shove him up to Nashville to be a sleeper late season roster addition? I still think about his run pre-injury through Appleton. I thought he was fast tracking himself to MKE.
  19. A few things from this series stand out besides taking 4 of 5 against them. Pratt getting comfortable and Lara flashing his ability should give a lot of hope both this year and moving forward that the MKE brass made great calls on both. Time will tell, good starts.
  20. The first time Henderson gives up 3 earned in his career.. and it will always have an asterisk.
  21. I loved that view of Bauers on the Chourio slide. The nuances of the game are so fun when you are let in on them.
