  1. Much like Vaughn's very first at bat as a Brewers player last year ... his 1st at bat home run tonight is going to hit like crack.
  2. I believe this qualifies as newsworthy.
  3. If Chourio needs another day or two to rest his foot I really hope Bauers is the LF against RHP. DH Black, Bauers in LF, Vaughn at 1B. That looks great to me.
  4. Great time for reinforcements with the division opponent on deck. Hopefully the team gets some juice from it. We have a lot of warts - but kudos to the guys for holding it together. 88 win pace while being down Chourio, Vaughn, Yelich, Priester, Koenig, Rob Z, and now Woody and Zerpa... it isn't nothing.
  5. I'm just coming online today.. But I think Murphy is still perfect on the year at running out a unique batting order for every game. It's not going to be long before I think he is trying to do so for all 162.
  6. I don't know how to describe that delivery. That is the most nonchalant wind up into violent arm whip contrast I have seen in a bit..
  7. This is interesting and a good topic. Admittedly, like everyone else, I've been a little annoyed at the Brewers early usage of challenges but this gives me pause.. As a hypothetical, if the Brewers and a specific pitcher have a game plan to work the bottom part of the strike zone against a particular lineup and Contreras does not get a strike call on multiple pitches in the first few innings that he thinks they should be getting or they need to get throughout the game.. is it worth burning one of your challenges the next time a pitch is close so the umpire has a confirmed data point of how far off he is or isn't? If we challenge a low non-strike call and it is confirmed a ball but it is low by a fraction of an inch, both the umpire and pitcher now know exactly where the ball needs to be for it to be a strike. In that scenario is losing a challenge worth getting both pitcher and umpire in agreement on where a strike will be for the rest of the game?
  8. Shout out to Brandon Lockridge man. Of all of the outfielders who have been given an opportunity, he is the one who has taken advantage of it and has earned his permanent spot on the roster. Like most people, when he was the return for Cortes last year I was confused and thought it was a throwaway but he has proven most everyone wrong. Good on him.
  9. I love the bullpen pitch count and I don't mean to confuse things but I wonder if it needs a 3rd color for the times someone is called up and threw for Nashville during the week? For instance, McGee threw 20+ pitches on Wednesday for Nashville.. so while maybe a minor detail... it does maybe further the understanding of his availability. Super minor note ... but thought I'd say it.
  10. Muprhy's "the first two strikes are for you, the 3rd strike is for the team" philosophy seems like it should be hammered into Mitchell a bit more. Choke up and make contact with two strikes ... his speed would create so many more infield hits. I know it is hard to rewire an athlete's brain from what has gotten them to the show ... but if could be Garrett Mitchell until he gets to two strikes and then Sal Frelick once he has two strikes... he would be a .900 OPS guy.
  11. I know it is just the weekend remaining until the boys come back but I don't see a reason not to swap Leonard and Jones on the roster. Jones will clear waivers and we are not going to bring him back up anyway.. give his 40 man spot to Leonard so we have another RH option who can give you a competitive at bat. Send him back for Chourio on Monday. Haven't needed a clutch PH at bat thankfully in the last handful of games... but I will be saddened if any of our plastic left handed bats face a tough lefty late in a game because we have no options this weekend. Seems an easy move to make the roster better for 48 hours.
  12. This is a side tangent but every year it is always fascinating how going into the year I think some version of "we have 400 outfielders - there is no way we need Akil Baddoo. We have 800 starters, Carlos Rodriguez won't sniff the big leagues this year. We have 5 lefties in the bullpen! We need to trade 2 of them!" ... and yet here we are May 1st and I WISH Akil Baddoo was healthy. Not only did we already need Carlos but he has thrown well and we will need him again AND we have already dipped into multiple parts of the other AAA depth for starters. We have already lost 3 of those aforementioned lefties and have needed 2 MORE lefties to come up and solidify the bullpen. Every year. Doesn't matter if it's Greg Jones, Steward Berroa, Anthony Siegler, Eric Sogard the 2nd time, Daz Cameron, Erick Fedde, Mitch White, Brewer Hicklen, Dallas Keuchel, etc etc There are 15 times each year, no matter what, where I am watching someone step into the batter's box or take the mound and I'm thinking... "How on earth did we get to this point?"
  13. This Shields character is the Royals #3 overall prospect and he is carving up the TRats right now ... so I would say in my 9 minutes of watching him he looks the part and I now request he joins our organization instead.
  14. This upcoming Greg Jones at bat is going to be must see TV.
  15. Brock Holt was LOVED in Boston before he came here and there was relative excitement that we had him. He just started that year so bad and couldn't shake it and we had no choice but to cut ties.
  16. You imagine that has to be it for Jones. Feel bad for him but it is what it is. I would be all for giving Jett his first cup of coffee just to break that ice. Then swap him for Chourio in a few days.
  17. I'm hit or miss on Vinny Rottino but I'm enjoying the banter between he and BA right now...
  18. Has Tyler Black figured things out? How helpful would his bat be down the stretch if so..
  19. Just really, really good to see the crooked numbers all over the top of this lineup today. Great production.
  20. If Contreras hits anything to the outfield I hope he doesn't stop until he reaches 3rd or is tagged out...
  21. Man, good job Shane. Way to pick up the squad. Can we get Jake Woodford 2 saves in the same series?
  22. If you combined the upper body movement post pitch from Tyler Black with the lower body movement post pitch of Sal Frelick...
  23. Soroka was off to such a great start this year ... we just tore up that ERA.
