The starters are out and we are tied and they don't have Miller or Adam after this inning. The momentum is firmly with us and the 'dread' has to be setting in for SoCal. -

Sidenote, I wonder who Rengifo is cheering for secretly. The Padres should be the answer because that is his current team and they gave him a chance after he was released... but Milwaukee is his best chance at a ring. -

I like May for the same reasons I would have liked Quintana to start Gm3 last year in Wrigley. Petco will be ferel tonight. I'd be leery to throw Gasser or Harrison or Drohan, etc into that fire for their first playoff opportunity (I know Gasser threw last year). Who knows if May pitches well but I don't think the environment will eat him up the way it might a newer player. Gm4 is better for the younger starter because they will have already sat through a game there. -
It's incredible only for the depth of what this game is. This is no different than Luke Kuechly talking about how a RB set his shoulders would tell him if it was a run or pass and no different than Kyle Harrison coming here and raising his arm angle less than 10 degrees to become dominant or whatever other millions of examples we have of the complexity of success vs failure. If Chourio strikes out last night he 'didn't rise to the occasion'/'he choked'. He singles instead and he is a hero. History is black and white. But how we get to those moments is far from it. It took someone seeing a tell in Miller and relaying it. It took Yelich putting together a great at bat to get on and then steal to even be in position to use the info. Then it gave an advantage to the next 4 guys to put together the at bats to win the game and possibly the series. If the Brewers end up getting to or winning a World Series this year - we just watched the game that might have been the pivot point and someone somewhere saw a tell in the best closer in the game and in a roundabout way won us the game by doing so. Truly not upset at anyone who says "who cares how, we won". Truly. But this is the good stuff for some of us nerds.

The Yelich motion is the exact same one that Sal had. That's exactly what is happening. So the biggest play of the game was Yelich stealing 2nd base because from then on we had a guy in position to relay signs.

This is probably why you can't ask a closer or anyone with just two pitches to go multiple innings like that. The Brewers had 10 full minutes between batting in the 8th and the 9th for their video guys to dissect the whole thing and find it. With all due respect to Christian, Sal, and Gary.... There is just no way all three of those guys lay off every single Mason Miller pitch out of the zone.

I'm assuming if May gets in trouble they will ask Drohan/Harrison/Patrick to clean it up and save the rest of the pen for the day. But if we are in it we will send out the artillery to try and close it out per usual.

It's exactly how you would write the movie if given control of the story. The vaunted bullpen looms and you know you have to avoid it (and him). You spend all game fighting to get even or ahead so you can avoid the monster waiting. Tug and pull. Back and forth. But you fail. He arrives. Just with a small caveat that gives you a glimmer (he has to get 6 outs). Will he tire? CAN he even tire? You have your best chance at him first. But he makes quick work of your best. It doesn't look good at all. You have a 2nd chance but it is with all of your cast aways and scorned. The odds are STACKED against. Surely this won't end well. But the broken down captain holds serve. The much maligned misfit follows suit! Then the false finish. Vaughn off the bench. Here is the chance. Our ace up the sleeve. We could actually pull this off!.. but the monster roars back. Hope is stifled. Our Ace gone. We can now see the hand dealt. Our on deck circle holds our hero. But little odds do we have for him to have an opportunity. A David vs Goliath battle ensues just to extend our life. Only our David is secretly a Kraken. What a selfless at bat. The hero steps to the plate with the bases full of our most criticized. The monster offers his best. The hero doesn't flinch. How about that one folks?

There are not enough angles. I want more angles. Give me the angle from the bullpen tv. I want the angle from inside the food trucks in the food truck alley. I want the angle from the space station.

I'm fairly interested in Murph's 'non response' to the game winner. He has no reaction right away, then offers a fist bump to whomever approaches him first while pandemonium is spiraling down on the city.

Yelich and Sal. Ended the no hitter and got us on the board first. Fended off the Mason Miller heat to set up the win. A LOT of apologies are necessary...

I watched the final at bat about 25 times already. Watching the different guys is always awesome. Contreras on the ground on the Frelick slide is classic.

Just coming here to say King is throwing a no hitter. He has allowed zero hits. Michael King for the Padres. I'll be back in an inning or two to let the world know again if needed. No hitter through 3.

I have yet to see this get mentioned .. but Ty France never left home plate. I understand the debate/everyone thinks it would have been a home run or foul - but I have decided my new take is that the Padres are lucky Chourio caught it because it is probably a game ending 7-6-4-3 double play if Chourio lets it fall fair. Padres caught a break :)

I didn't think the Brewers could do too much more to try and kill the launch angle era of baseball, but last night was a stroke of genius.

I want something very obviously Uecker related to happen today as well. I want France to hit a 600 ft home run that hits a bird (and the bird is unharmed!) or something and ends up caught. If people realize Bob is pulling the strings they can't be mad.
