  1. I would agree both are coping mechanisms, but assuredly they are not equal in toxicity? If you have two toddlers and your house is a mess and you ask for help cleaning it so one toddler starts coloring pictures of flowers and trees and taping them to the walls while the other toddler pouts and walks around farting in every room... Neither one is helping clean the house but there is an obvious favorite child in that scenario, no?
  2. Treego was the resident poet. I can't say for certain but I think he is boycotting baseball currently because of the Dodgers or something.
  3. I guess I don't know your opinion quite yet, do you think the Brewers offense has been sufficient lately? Also, I don't mean to correct another man's poetry but I am pretty sure 5-7-5 is the rhythm we are looking for if posting in haikus!
  4. Henderson seems to know he was the guy Detroit wanted and Milwaukee wouldn't move in that deal. Hopefully he isn't adding any pressure to himself to prove anything extra today.
  5. I'm really glad you said something. People being happy when their team wins is so annoying and uncalled for.
  6. Any chance we can borrow Blake Perkins back for 24 hours? Tomorrow would be the day he would go 2-3 with a walk and run scored.
  7. I have enough people ignored (and I assume I am ignored by a good many as well). It cuts the game threads in half. Just FYI in case you haven't tried it yet you can ignore someone and their name still shows as a blocked comment and you can "show ignored comment" if you need to peel back to the curtain to see what everyone is mad about that particular day.
  8. A certain someone was just DFA'd by the Giants and maybe should have gotten a shot with us earlier this year as it is. I know the defense is suspect but if we are throwing out lineups with our 2 1st baseman playing 3rd and RF and our backup catcher hanging out at 1B ... maybe he can bridge a gap for us here.
  9. Rewatched some of the Field of Dreams game last night. The biggest thing I couldn't stop thinking about ... and I mean this as respectfully as possible to someone who means so much to so many around here ... is that we need to have an intervention with Paul Molitor about his hair :(
  10. I think we are scheduled to stick around for a few more after this one ;)
  11. I guess the question is "do we trust the guys who are supposed to be hitting to figure it out and start hitting again or do we trust an AAA bat or guy off the street to do so more?".. and I think the unsexy answer has to be that we trust our current guys to hit themselves out of this. If there is another answer I think we should be open to it .. I'm just not sure what that answer is. Maybe Adams. Maybe Baddoo. Maybe Burke. Maybe Jett.
  12. I wonder if Freeman is going to play. He looked ok-ish after getting up but that fall looked like serious impact.
  13. Chicken or egg situation. It's like having two kids who just can't wait to poke the other one when mom and dad aren't looking to get a reaction. Poster A loses his mind over something silly. Poster B tells Poster A to chill. Poster C steps in and tells Poster B they are not allowed to tell Poster A what to post. Poster B tells Poster C he also is not allowed to tell people how to post, pot meet kettle. Meanwhile Poster D and Poster F are trying to find out how many options Player 1 has remaining but they are having to shout over A, B and C. After the game, Adult 1 and Adult 2 do a quick walk through to put the coloring books back on the shelves, pick up the scattered puzzle pieces, and restock the juice boxes so we can all do it again the next day. Big happy family. Go Brewers.
  14. I put an asterisk next to his name as a caveat in the response. His June was amazing. His July was sub .600 OPS. In the context of what I was responding to - I don't feel wrong having his name there with an asterisk.
  15. Mirrors. Should any of our 'stars' who are under producing be calling on others to get replaced? Yelich, Contreras, Turang*, Chourio*... The sluggish offensive July is on their shoulders. If they are upset at the lack of production.. I have a mirror for them. The guys who are producing above expectation? Bauers and Mitchell... The two guys who have benefitted the most from being given additional chances and the FO's "trust the process" approach. If they are upset we are not replacing underperforming guys... I have a mirror for them. Lara and Pratt, the young ones? They ARE the process. The fact that Otto Lopez, Buxton, Abrams, etc were never options this season to be added is because the org trusted their own guys to be the additions. These two WERE the additions. If they are upset we didn't add..... MIRROR. The guys who are to be replaced? Hamilton, Frelick, Ortiz, etc.. If they are upset the org isn't replacing them, that would be funny. Vaughn is going to get 8 figures from someone next year. He owes the Brewers far more than they owe him. Sanchez? Fine, Sanchez can be upset.
  16. You mean the pitching staff is disappointed we didn't add hitters, I presume? Surely you can't think anyone in our lineup is upset about it..
  17. The IGT is a needed option for a sports forum like this to operate efficiently just as a cry room is necessary for a church to do the same. Sometimes people just need a space to close the door behind them and lose their minds a little without disrupting the main space/reason people have come here.
  18. Definitely, I'm almost talking a move imminently. Give him a chance with another org that can give him some real MLB at bats before the year is over. For some reason I could see him in a Rockies uniform before the month is over.
  19. I wonder if the Burke call up and the Bae selection are writing on the wall for Tyler Black? I understand the defensive liabilities but if Black can't get the call here for a few days to back up some positions and the Brewers are willing to lose Wilson because of it... he isn't ever going to be given another chance, is he?.. AND now that Burke is in Nash they aren't going to hold at bats for him on DH days for Black.
  20. 100% agree and it is such a insane scenario I would be shocked if it ever does come into play. Last night the shortstop was in shallow left, the 3rd baseman came all the way in to be the cut guy, so Mitchell had no one near him at 3rd so I think he had some space to turn aggressively had he been thinking about it. The read then is the catcher and how he responds to the play and are you even close enough at that point to be considered "committed"? I know it is all so unlikely... but I thought about it in real time and wondered if anyone knew of an existing ruling.
  21. This was the exact scenario I was going to present if pressed. I can't imagine it has verbiage in a rulebook somewhere ... but I was watching the final play tonight and the thought definitely crossed my mind that if you are Mitchell and no one is paying attention to you that you should be hauling around 3rd with reasonable intent to make the umpire make a judgment call in the unlikely scenario... because the above hypothetical would seem to be a judgment call.
  22. That all makes sense and my assumption as well, I just am wondering where/if the rule is in writing.
  23. It is really hard to watch that clip of him describing his last week and not hope he gets a real chance somewhere.
  24. I have, potentially, a stupid question. What is the official rule on a walk off situation like we just witnessed in terms of dead ball/advancement pertaining to a challenge extending a game? One out. Single to left. Turang is ruled safe, Mitchell goes to 3rd, Bauers stopped around 1st to watch. If the call on the field is overturned, I'm assuming Mitchell to 3rd, Bauers on 1st and we play on. Is there a scenario where Mitchell can also score on the continuation of the play so if the play is overturned upon review, we still score the winning run with two outs on that play? I'm assuming I know the answer, I just can't find the rule to verify the game is 'paused' upon Turang being ruled safe if a review is requested. I'm assuming the game ends when the winning run scores but the possibility of the review process makes it murky for me. If Bauers is able to advance to 2nd after his single during the throw (if he is halfway there or something) - why wouldn't Mitchell also be allowed to continue to another base if he is rounding 3rd during the play?
