    Fantastic. We still have a good roster here but it feels like we have given far more than we have received in terms of promotions thus far (makes sense). New faces are welcome.

    Of course they are not, but I'm talking about expected contribution for the remainder of the year. If you had to mark out your lowest and highest contribution estimates from both guys there's going to be a lot of overlap and if that's the case, why are you spending reasonable capital for a scratch off opportunity? Outside of the obvious one guy, there is no one we can currently acquire who is assured to outperform Logan or Shane so we are acquiring a #5 and if that's the case - cost to performance skews hard in the direction of scrap heap types.

    I get the excitement of "Who could we get that will get us over the edge?!" and dreaming that the one guy we acquire turns into Verlander for the stretch run... but I also love the idea of scratch off tickets at the gas station, yet I don't buy them because I have seen the math. A guy like Senzatela is a 31yo who has a career ERA over 5 and he is going to get traded for legit prospect capital in a few days. Meanwhile Bryce Wilson was free and his career ERA is under 5. Same realistic expectation of production moving forward. I could certainly be missing some available folks here but to me it is Skubal or the Bryce Wilson's of the league. Those are the acquisition targets. Anything else is a misuse of resources IMHO when you can't truthfully expect better production than what the Crow, Sproat, Wilson, Gordon crew will be able to put together.

The Twins said they aren't trading Ryan, so outside of Skubal who is there to acquire that we anticipate will pitch better than Henderson (3ERA) or Drohan (3.5ERA)?

    Made is the #1 prospect in baseball for what he could be, not for what he currently is. Out of 13 guys who have over 100 at bats for our AA club ... Made is tied for the 8th highest OPS, 9th best OBP, tied for 5th best BA. We need to let him get his work in the minors for a while yet.

    I'm posting this Jeff Passan clip here for you to watch.. Passan says there is a 100% chance MLB expands to 32 teams in the next 5 years and says Nashville will be one of them. We had a brief discussion about this very topic in a game thread once upon a time and I couldn't find it. But it's a topic I'd love to know more about. If Nashville gets selected as an MLB satellite - what do you think are the main priorities for selecting a replacement city? Do we think Madison would be up for it? Could Appleton upgrade? Do we want multiple teams in the same climate/risk of same weather patterns? I'd be curious how the process would work to get a new AAA team when one is just eliminated like this scenario and isn't 'traded'..

    Just want to say a quick note of thanks to those who frequent the minor league portion of this page. It is such a breath of fresh air compared to the chaos that happens on the main board and in the IGT. Just baseball talk. Just facts. Casual disagreements and casual agreements. Everyone trying to learn and enjoy the process. No one needing to be right. Appreciate you folks!

    I realize you are just being emotional but if I may... Career backup catchers and backup quarterbacks are the same thing. Their lack of elite talent is what keeps them as a backup... Their grasp of the game/position and ability to keep a clubhouse pointed straight is what keeps them in the league. Sanchez playing 10 years in the league primarily as a backup is the only stat you need to know his value is not tied to his ability to hit opposite field singles. Hate the challenges all you want and that is fine. Calling him dumb is misunderstanding the sport unfortunately.

    Yoho following Miz last time was so good/effective that selfishly I want to see if it is a little cheat code.. but you are right, there are probably 4 arms ahead of him that need to work.

    This is just 4D chess by Arnold. Trade Fielder for Gordon, take on McCullers to do so and DFA McCullers. The Cubs just can't help themselves with our DFAs. They will pick him up in 4 days and he will dampen their momentum down the stretch. Final trade: Fielder for Gordon and the Cubs get worse. Master class.

    Houston more or less asked us to DFA him on their behalf and gave us Gordon to do so.

    I've told the story a time or two on these boards, but it remains a good lesson for me whenever I interact with fans who have different priorities when watching the team. I was driving back from my brother's house the night the Bucks won the championship and I was listening to a local radio sports show. They were taking phone calls and some guy called in and (paraphrasing) said "we got lucky this time around, but if we have any interest in repeating next year, we really need add another shooter to help balance the scoring".. I couldn't process his mindset. The Bucks had just done the impossible and he was calling in annoyed at how the roster was currently constructed because of a perceived flaw. Some folks always need something to work on and if it isn't perfect then the focus is on what needs to be fixed rather than enjoying what has been going well..

    I don't know anything and I'm willing to be wrong - but I hear "Brewers are prepared to be more aggressive" and all it tells me is "Brewers are going to make sure the Cubs gut their entire system to get Skubal or anyone else". I'll be gobsmacked if either of Skubal or Mason Miller are wearing a Milwaukee uniform in two weeks.

    The argument is there that the biggest "acquisition" the Brewers could make that would help beat LA is earning the #1 seed. Home field is what won us the Cubs series last year. So you can approach the trade deadline in a few ways I guess. 1) Who can we acquire that will help us beat LA specifically? or 2) Who can we acquire that will help us maintain through the remaining season and get us to 97+ wins and home field throughout? That person(s) could be the same person for both answers obviously. But if our goal here is to get a Game 7 at home with Miz on the mound.. the first real goal of the trade deadline is to make sure we get to the end of September with a chance at the #1 seed. "Lighter" moves to balance the bench/bullpen, etc shouldn't be scoffed at this year more so than most. They could be just as important as the move for a big name. I'm not at all saying a Bryse Wilson pick up is akin to a Joe Ryan pickup .. but if McCullers and Wilson can keep Ashby in the pen more often than not so his stuff looks like it did yesterday... that kind of marginal upgrade might just be the ticket.

    I personally don't know if I will ever see (in person) a more stacked minor league lineup then what we had here in Appleton to start the year. It is crazy that our Appleton team feels "gutted" right now and we still have Pena, Payne, Bitonti, Dickerson, etc I tried not to take it for granted and I got to 7ish games in the first half. Thinking back and knowing the year Ragsdale is having and that he was like the 8th best offensive option for us for awhile ... it was incredible. There was no time to look at your phone when we were batting. It hits so much different when they are "your" prospects too. The folks in Biloxi are living the dream right now with prospects but man ... when it is your local team and your big league team combined it is so much fun.

    It is going to take Rengifo about a week and a half in San Diego to equal the number of hits he had during his entire tenure with Milwaukee.

    Always fun to think about. But this is like talking with your spouse about next summer's vacation - pulling up pictures of Bali and Athens and Madeira - but both of you know fully well you are going to end up at the Kalahari in the Dells to save some money. Joe Ryan is a fun thought. Mason Miller is a wonderful thought. We are going to end up with whatever this year's version of Lockridge is. Brett Harris or something like that.

    I don't believe we should be operating with the assumption that there won't be a season next year, but I do think it complicates things for the Brewers and particularly for Adams and Wilken. If they need to get moved to the 40 man to protect them and then we get locked out... They can't play next year while both Burke and Fischer will have full seasons at AAA. I would assume one or both (Fischer and Burke) will be ready for us in 2028. So by moving the two prior names up to the 40 man.. If we get locked out, I don't know where their roster spot is when we come back.

    I tried to go through his game logs on BREF and only count his catching starts and I came up with 15-11. I am unwilling to double check my work so take it with a grain of salt.
