  1. So if they go to a RHP to face Vaughn you let Mitchell hit after but if they stay with a LHP for Mitchell you hit Kraken and when they go to a RHP after Kraken is announced then you put in Bunty for Kraken to hit the go ahead nuke. There I just wrote the script ... now I need to sleep.
  2. "A's bullpen is quiet" .. PLEASE leave the lefty in to face Vaughn with a runner on.
  3. If every game is like this I might have to punt on watching the next couple. Not worth ruining the sleep schedule to watch BP at Halfaer Field.
  4. Have to get one here so Bauers/Vaughn can tie it with a pop up in the 9th.
  5. Umm, we better be running on that arm in center every chance we get.
  6. Hmm, if you are going to pinch hit for Joey and ask Ham to play short why waste Sal? Just hit Ham..
  7. I wonder if we will ever get an Albert Belle situation on a challenge where a 3-0 pitch is borderline and called ball 4 but the guy wants to hit so he challenges to stay in the at bat...
  8. Vaughn's first at bat was a warning track flyout. He is probably 10-12 total feet from having 3 of them thus far..
  9. He is striking out more than he ever has but coming into tonight he was hitting .300/.378/.500 against LHP this year. In June thus far (before tonight) .370/.469/.444 He is striking out almost 1/3 of the time and he has failed in a few "we need you to drive this guy in" scenarios so I think his failures have been more memorable? I have the same "what are we doing Yeli?" thoughts more often than normal too..
  10. What is the winning number tonight? First one to 12 wins?
  11. Re: that Turang home run ... I can't run through all of them in my head but that was right of center... how many pull side home runs does he have this year? Everything he hits out is oppo...
  12. If we could all stop suggesting that we trade either of our 1st baseman in random threads that would be great...
  13. I just am not sure why we trying to fix one issue by creating another. If we trade Vaughn and then Bauers takes a pitch on the hand we now have 6 weeks with Gary Sanchez as our 1st baseman. You know who is OPSing over .800 against LHP this year and isn't getting a lot of playing time? Monasterio. He will cost you a song and he can be the soft side of a split with Bunty if we really need to make a trade. That is a combined .750 OPS 3B. Someone like that. You don't need to spend a lot on a full time 3b - you need someone who can hit lefties adequately. Maybe that can still be Luis. Maybe it's Jett. But I think losing Vaughn at the hope of gaining an average MLB 3b is an unnecessary risk to a really promising season.
  14. Gambling. If we find out he can hit MLB pitching first his number doubles.
  15. What would you get for him that is worth more than his value to this season's team? He is going to be north of a 2 WAR 1B ... I don't know who is going to give us a 2+WAR 3B with team control for Andrew Vaughn. Our first basemen are going to likely provide over 5 WAR between the two of them this season. There are different ways to fix 3B that don't include blowing up what might end up being our best offensive position I think?
  16. Go back in time one year and imagine the response here if someone had said "in one year we will be discussing whether or not to give Jake Bauers a QO"..
  17. I am just now seeing that Spencer and Jim are talking about this on Twitter too ... I won't speculate anymore without more evidence beyond the cryptic messages Sweet offered. But if it looks like a duck..
  18. 100%. He is still just a baby in the big leagues. If we are counting pro at bats as minor leagues + major leagues, we have plenty of prospects in the minors who are 21/22 who have more pro at bats than Mitchell. The chorus of "he is who he is" folks could end up being right... but I would say we are a good ways away from finding that out yet.
