  1. Well, the reassuring news is that the MLB record for appearances in a season is 106 and Ashby is only on pace for 96 ... so at least he isn't on pace to be the most used reliever of all time. 2nd place all time is 94. So he is on pace to be used the 2nd most of any pitcher in history through 17 games. Silver lining.
  2. I didn't want to be the first one to say it. 81 pitches and was throwing well. I would have allowed him to work the inning.
  3. Pena is not long for Appleton but O'Rae has every right to his spot currently in Biloxi. I just said this in another thread but our outfield prospect list is just about dry after Lara in the upper levels. Pena might force O'Rae out into LF and if I were O'Rae I would welcome it. There is a path there to big league at bats in Milwaukee... I'm not sure that is true at 2b for him?
  4. Yeah there was going to be movement with outfielders after the Jones promotion. Between the Berroa trade, the Black injury and now the Jones promotion ... Nashville was out of bodies to play out there. I think O'Rae would help his chances immensely if he got comfortable in the grass. Keep hitting and become position flexible. Josh A same thing.
  5. Giving up 4 runs in an inning and only throwing 16 total pitches is really impressive.
  6. It's a decent topic. Mitchell is a strikeout guy ... would you rather he be in the top of the order trying to set up the RBI producers or would you rather he be in the run producing position? Where might strikeouts hurt less/more?
  7. I'm willing to wear this one ... I've always read these charts from the pitcher's viewpoint/perspective (meaning in this case I would see Contreras standing on the right side and .403 is an inside pitch). I'm going into timeout for the afternoon.
  8. Also, would it make it better to see Willson's career heat chart and know he is a middle/middle in hitter so pitching away is the general move? Willson Contreras - Heat Maps | FanGraphs Baseball Or is this strictly just a pride thing?
  9. Just offering another way to look at this - perhaps William knew that if Miz threw inside and missed he would have to explain to the Brewers fan base why he allowed a crazy man with nothing to lose get a 45ft head start to swing on our best pitcher.
  10. Shane we could use another hard throwing RH option in the bullpen if you want to come back! (half blue)
  11. Major league debut trying to impress his new club while also trying to prove his old club wrong. This would be a huge mental mind bend for most, good luck to you Shane. Bullpen is in good shape. Off day tomorrow.
  12. Hamilton is growing on me so fast. I don't think I care if he ever hits a ball out of the infield...
  13. Wow, Steele all over again. Best of luck to that young man in his recovery.
  14. Man, every season is such an adventure and is so unpredictable. Had I told you a month ago that our lineup for Gm #11 of the season would be: Lockridge Contreras Rengifo Sanchez Ortiz Matos Frelick Perkins Hamilton ...we would all have no less than 6 questions, most of which were of concern and I think we would be praying for a report that we managed to be .500 through the first 10. Meanwhile, we have the best record in baseball and I'm low key excited to see how this lineup manufactures 5 runs tonight against one of the best arms in the game. I say this also knowing full well that we will probably put out a lineup at some point in August that has 5 new names that are not currently on the 26 man. Baseball >>>
  15. This generation's Boston fans are typically pretty defiant against sliding with spikes up. Machado more or less started the end of Pedroia's career by spiking him. I can't imagine many Boston fans would defend Contreras' actions yesterday...
  16. So this part I would bend on in real time probably. I was mildly surprised no one challenged him after he hurt Hamilton yesterday. I don't love the premeditated stuff really at all, but if he goes after someone today I hope our guys would defend whomever that is.
  17. If we didn't have pennant aspirations I would want the entertainment too. The last thing we need though is Abner actually connecting with a right hand and busting a finger or something dumb. If we let him draw us into a fight it will be the highlight of his season. We have bigger things to worry about. Plus the pen is already short handed ... can't handle suspensions now either.
  18. We have such a good thing going.. Ignore the child screaming for attention. Let him go 1-3 with a walk today and ignore his stare downs. We have bigger things to concern ourselves with.
  19. .. and once again your league leader in wins, Aaron Ashby.
  20. Just looked at the Cubs box score. Those batting averages to start the year for Craig's squad are TOUGH.
  21. After seeing that throw in to home from Anthony on the Mitchell single ... teams better auto send runners until he proves otherwise. That was a mind numbing effort.
  22. 9 games in... (using ESPN stats) MLB Batting All MLB Third Baseman Stat Leaders, 2026 Regular Season - ESPN Durbin (-.2) and Mona (.1) have combined for -.1 WAR. (Seigler injured) Harrison (.3) and Hamilton (.5) have combined for .8WAR Almost a full win difference in a week and a half ... and now we are going to see if Drohan adds to that or not this week. Hamilton is listed as a 2B on ESPN but if he was a 3B he would be tied for 3rd in all of baseball for WAR amongst 3B to start the season. His OBP is 12th best in ALL of baseball. Still way too soon to call it. But holy buckets what a trade out of the gates..
  23. There were two scenarios in play for this week. 1) We would piece together a bullpen game at some point. 2) We would discover an injury to bring up a starter. Candidates to have an injury discovered were Sproat and Koenig... then to a lesser extent Woodford. Koenig's start to the year (pre and real) has a Payamps aura right now unfortunately.
