What Does Going to the World Series Mean to You?

My brother sent me this at about 2am. When people ask "why sports?". This is why sports. -
I have a sense there will be a "last surge" of energy that they will come out with but if we can hit them early they might roll over mentally.

If we do make Drohan official, I wonder how Roberts will play it. Start his righties(?) and then how soon does he swing back to Muncy, etc off the bench against May. When that happens we have Romero, Ashby, Harrison to mitigate. I love chess. I love baseball.

It's the playoffs - so rules don't matter obviously. Close the series out if it is there. But in a perfect world I would love to get Drohan and Patrick and Harrison an inning each somehow. Get the jitters out. Let them be nervous and feel the crowd. Not sure I would love to have anyone make their post season debut on the road in Gm 3 of the World Series after not having faced a live hitter in 2+ weeks.

We have so many outs available in the bullpen but a lot of those guys haven't thrown in a week or two. May for 6-9 outs to start? Then you have Romero, Drohan, Harrison for the top of the order and Senza/Patrick for the extended bottom half and let the chips fall as they may? Ashby/Hall/Megill are a no go unless the pennant is there to be had. What a wild last sentence I just wrote.

DL Hall is now the all time post season wins leader in Brewers history. Reminder his Brewers post season career started about a week and a half ago.

This feels like the Neo game. If we can pull this one out, Gasser vs Snell, we are Morpheus watching Neo stop and drop the bullets in the hallway. If the Dodgers prevail... the fight is on.

Murph is the man. We are 2-0, so hard to say any wrong buttons have been pushed. We will see if any lingering effects take place as the series progresses. They have seen Uribe twice now, Ashby twice. I'm glad Megill was spared. We are going to need to get outs from Senza, Drohan, and Patrick at some point. The hopscotch from Henderson to Uribe using May and Romero was really great to see. -

I believe it was the intent all along (while still having merit without that specific intention). I never understood the embarrassment it caused some. This is our best shot at winning one and Yelich is needed. Murph has been harping on his leadership all year - this was a representation of that so if it had any chance of altering his confidence positively, it was worth doing. -
I think the broadcast hypothesized (and I don't hate the thought process) that because Ashby had already gone back to back via tonight he was probably down Wed as it is .. so because the 8th was clean and quick and we had a cushion, if you can squeeze the 9th out of him they don't get to see Megill again AND we save him an inning (both of which are factors). So my assumption was if we were up 1 it was either Ashby for Ohtani and then Megill OR since we were up 3, we were going to run Ashby until he showed any sign of distress. Possibly a dice roll but a calculated one and it worked.

We haven't won anything yet. I'm still in "I'll believe it when I see it" mode. But this is an unknown feeling we are currently in. If we lose this it will be our fault, not because we are inferior. We have had teams in the recent past that I thought had a chance. I've never felt entirely confident we were the team driving the whole bus. We are driving the bus right now. Just keep the thing on the tracks.

Yes, I agree with you on all of that. I think I'm referencing one specific piece of the stat and you are speaking to it generally.

I don't think anything you said around this is untrue.. But I'm not sure misleading is the right word. Maybe shocking or sad. The Brewers have been around for over half of a century and one of the guys tied for the most wins in our playoff history just made his third playoff appearance for us and they have all happened within the last 9 days. That's a little wild.

This, along with Chourio already being our all-time playoff home run leader, tells everyone all they need to know about what we have endured as a fan base to get to this current era.

If I were Fischer I would be begging to play 1B every day in camp next spring. The Brewers likely(?) are going to have a whole season's worth of strong side platoon at bats available..

Would we trust May in a multi-inning role out of the pen more than Grant Anderson?

I was at the Brewers game in Detroit when were in the lead when Skubal departed. Blake Perkins had a big hit, if I remember right, to take the lead. Perkins more or less didn't hit off of anyone except elite pitchers this year ha.

I've thought about Hader and Gasser a few times in the last week with this series looming. Some poetry here. Gasser and Ruiz were 2 of the 4 we got for Hader. Ruiz turned in to Contreras. So the battery tonight is from the Hader trade from San Diego. No better way to close it out.

As was the case with the Cubs last year and as is the case with the Padres this year ... avoid damage in the 1st and we seem to be just fine. If Bobby Fuel Tanks can get through the top of 1 unscathed then you are hoping he can give you 3 before pulling him at 1st sign of trouble. Play matchups the rest of the way. Senz, Patrick, Megill, Uribe for the top 4, whomever else for the rest of it. 9 good innings then let's rest. Let's hope Atl can force a Skubal appearance in the next 72 hours.
