  1. This Alvarado character has a live arm. 3 ks from 3/4/5 maybe isn't the most productive inning. Let's see if the A's tempt fate and bring in a lefty for the 8th and pray Vaughn doesn't get a chance with a runner on.
  2. The home run Kuhnel gave up to Kurtz last night I thought was a flyout to left ... tonight's was a flyout short of the warning track in MKE. No excuses but he thus far has passed the eye test in two outings for me. Throwing smoke. Wil be interesting to see what his velo is when he isn't pitching against the team that fired him a few days ago...
  3. If you told me Kuhnel was Dan Campbell's brother I would believe it..
  4. Good swing Yeli. Get Ginn outta here. To the pens now - this game is wide open. 12-11 incoming.
  5. We could IL him after his foul ball earlier and not be questioned I don't think... buy some time to save the depth if desired.
  6. This feels more like the NBA a little bit. They just hit a corner 3 to go up a bucket but we are fine as long as we hit our open shots and make our free throws. Box out and rebound and limit their second chances. We are fine.
  7. Suspiciously quiet after the Frelick single other than the compliment to the base runner ;)
  8. Montgomery walks off the Braves in his MLB debut... that was kind of cool. Also, Acuna left the game with a hamstring... so eyes on that.
  9. 1) Value extraction. If you are going to spend $79mil on a player without the guarantee of performance do you give $79mil cleanly to someone without clause or do you give $30mil to someone that can escalate to $79mil based on performance? Doesn't matter 21yo or 31yo - one of those contracts requires a player to work harder for it than the other in a vacuum. 2) We aren't talking $10mil -> $15mil .. we are talking $30mil -> $79mil.
  10. Ironically, Sal would be loved back in Boston if they are willing to answer the phone. Get Mona back here to take over the soft side of that 3B spot for the time being.
  11. Yeah fun day. I'm not going to believe I was the first one to think about it but when they said "non injury related absence" and didn't mention family matter, etc - the first thing that came to my head was Pratt. I love how this FO is moving forward in philosophy.
  12. The logic here is so solid for the franchise. If you sign a guy like Bregman to a quadzillion dollar deal ... the guy has every reason to be de-motivated if he wants. He just signed a guaranteed contract. He is set forever whether he goes Shohei Ohtani on the field or Anthony Rendon "on" the field. You reward a guy like Lara with guaranteed money but escalate the contract. You now have the player in his prime years with every reason to maximize that contract and earn a new one.
  13. Will wait for final word and I know the Brewers aren't the first team to do this ... but they may be changing baseball right now with whom they are targeting. Bazillions of dollars handed out to guys like Bichette and Bregman and Swanson and (insert 200 names here) only to have them underwhelm. There are so few guarantees anymore with even the stars that they will consistently produce. If you are going to 'waste' money on guys... why not take a chance on your own? This goes beyond the Made and Chourio and top prospects that are on a rocketship to stardom ... but your "Tier 2" stars - Fringe Top 50 and low Top 100 guys. Be selective but aggressive to lock them up. Hit on a couple, break even with a couple. The couple you miss on it will be so much easier to cut bait or have a tradeable contract so you are not stuck paying a fortune for someone you can't move.
  14. A lot to think about. Unlike Pratt I'm not sure what is left to prove in AAA - I imagine this contract and 40 man spot comes with MLB playing time. There is plenty of at bats for him to take against LHP from Sal and Mitchell.
  15. That's a terrible scorecard. Murphy was going back and forth between his stares of fury and disbelief towards him.
  16. You have Gasser, Crow, and Sproat to get length through the next 2 games. Off day Thursday then reset with Miz at home against Philly on Friday. With Ginn today then Perkins tomorrow.. on paper today is the "punt" game. If Gasser, Crow, Rom, and Kuhnel can get you through this game we will be alright as long as Sproat doesn't implode tomorrow.
  17. I thought Kurtz first home run was a flare to left. I thought Heim's game tie-er was a pop out. The A's throwing lefties at Vaughn was comical. The Brewers had a LOT of really poor at bats late oddly enough. Vaughn and Bauers together are a wrecking crew. Murphy was off his game yesterday, respectfully. Uribe and Patrick were nails. Proud of them. Respect to those of you who stayed up until the end, that game probably just ruined my sleep schedule for the entire week. Go Brewers, get one more then get the heck out of the desert.
  18. The Brewers came into the series with 46 team home runs or something like that. We are going to leave Vegas with 65.
  19. Gasser is throwing 7 tomorrow whether he likes it or not. He might give up 24. He can't come out.
  20. Let's get one more to win the series and then get the heck out of Vegas. This place sucks lol
  21. Sveum has a lot of ammo to work with tomorrow error today when he wakes.
