  1. I'm sorry, thanks for correcting me, I guess I should have read the whole article before I commented, it was Ray Montgomery that was the scout for Weeks. Here is the article. http://mets.mlb.com/conte...2006/m09/d22/c1676361.jsp
  2. Is there a place to lookup the players that he scouted that were drafted by the Brewers? I know he was the scout for Weeks, Taylor Green, and also was sent to watch Gabe Kapler last summer, but thats about all I know about him.
  3. Nate 82, where are you getting your information from? Do you have insider knowledge, or did you see that in a report, I've never heard that the Brewers made an offer for Peavy, or that they specifically wanted Jeffress and others.
  4. Andrew Bogut is out for the season, I think that might be the nail in the coffin for the 08-09 season. I think they need to start giving Alexander and LRMAM a bigger role, and try to improve their salary cap situation by shedding a few contracts if possible.
  5. According to jsonline they have signed former Yankee 36 year old Ramiro Mendoza to a minor league deal w/ an invite to camp. He last played w/ the Rockies AAA affiliate in 06'. Here are links to his stats and story from jsonline. Also, according to his wikipedia page he will pitch for Panama in the WBC. http://minors.baseball-re...com/players.cgi?pid=24625 http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/39058352.html Here is an intersting link I found on a Yankee fan site that talks about his Venezuelan winter league performance. From the sound of it, he did very well. http://mbd.scout.com/mb.a...&f=1637&t=3365128
  6. I see McNeal as at least a good sixth man in the NBA, he has transformed himself into a great shooter, and he has always been a very good defender. I think he will be a 2nd round pick, that will eventually play a pretty big role on a good NBA team. I don't see a problem w/ his height, he is 6-2 or 6-3 and very athletic, so I would probably compare him to a Delonte West or Ben Gordon type player.
  7. I could see the BoSox, Yankees, Mets or Dodgers signing him to a deal, his upside is so huge and they always seem to have more money to spend. I like the fact that Melvin still won't admit that they have closed the door on Sheets, I think there is still a slight chance that he comes back to Milwaukee (fingers crossed).
  8. You probably thought the same thing about CC Sabathia, and the truth is that you have no idea if that statement is true, unless you can see into the future.
  9. Since Melvin said he will probably not be adding another big addition, and the roster is pretty much set, I can't see them taking on another 11 million for Kevin Millwood, and especially give up Riske and prospects for him. I think if they add a free agent starter, they are looking to get one at a cheaper rate.
  10. Why wouldn't we just sign Sheets, Wolf or Looper who have all been better than Millwood, and would cost less?
  11. Have you seen Angel play catcher, from what I've heard in scouting reports he has a very good chance to be able to make it as a catcher? I'm pretty sure the Yankees would take Salome for Kennedy, I know one thing, the Yankees would not laugh at getting a 22 year old catcher who just had a .974 OPS in AA. Also, since DH's just hit, there have been plenty of short guys that could hit in MLB history; Kirby Puckett, Ivan Rodriguez, Joe Morgan, Tim Raines, Brian Giles to name a few. chansen, do you really think that Mike Rivera is considered to be more important than Salome? They would get rid of Rivera in a second if it meant choosing between him and Salome.
  12. There is no way I would give up Angel Salome for Ian Kennedy, I don't think that makes any sense for us. Are both of these guys out of options, why do they need to trade them?
  13. 3jack, are you a friend of Omar Aguilar, or are you just a big fan? I was just wondering because all of our posts so far have been about him. Have you seen him play, and if you have can you give us a little scouting report on him?
  14. If this is true, I guess thats good news especially about Redman and Zambrano. Where are you getting this information from, do you have a link? I believe that they would be interested in Mark Mulder, since Macha raved about him in an article I saw, but there was also an article where Melvin claimed to not have any interest in him.
  15. Its actually for Ronny Cedeno and Garret Olson, I like the deal for the M's, I think both have decent upside. This also makes me think that they will not be going after Peavy now, which makes me happy.
  16. Melvin already stated this off-season that he has had interest in both Wolf and Looper, so I would expect the Brewers to end up with one of these two if we sign anybody. I wouldn't mind either one, but I would prefer Sheets, and I'm glad we didn't get Garland.
  17. I'd probably be easier if you just put these in the other thread about SP. I also like Odalis Perez as a cheap option.
  18. I don't think the Brewers will have to even consider guys like Kim and Armas, when there are still so many free agent starting pitchers out there. I hope Melvin is bluffing when he says that they aren't planning on signing another starter, look at the list w/ less than a month to go before spring training: Ben Sheets Oliver Perez Jon Garland Randy Wolf Braden Looper Tom Glavine (Expected to be ready by start of season) Odalis Perez Paul Byrd (Said he is taking 1st half off)
  19. I think our new starting lineup should be Ridnour, RJ, LRMAM, Villanueva and Bogut. I really love the height and athleticism that this unit would bring. I also hope that Sessions and Alexander start playing a bigger role now that Redd is out.
  20. When you are parked on the street in front of your house and someone hits your side mirror, and then drives away. What can you really do about that? If I put a claim on it the deductible would cost more than it would to fix it, and I'm pretty sure its not big enough for the police to do anything about it. The crazy thing is that I think our mailman did it, here is why, if anybody cares. We are located on a 35 MPH road, and there is plenty of room for parking on the street. Our mirror was not totally ripped off, just a little plastic and the mirror itself were broken. If someone was actually going 35 and hit our mirror wouldn't the whole thing be ripped off? Since the car was parked about 5-10 feet in front of our mailbox, it would have been a tight fit for him to drop the mail off, and then try to fit around our car to get to the next mailbox. And it happened in a 2 hour span when the mail was dropped off. If anybody is familiar, do you know if mailmen get in huge trouble for causing accidents, and that is why he might have risked driving away from the scene of an accident?
  21. I'm guessing that at least one of Villanueva or Sessions will need to be traded because of their RFA status after the season. I think the key to making a deal would be to try to include the contracts of as many of Gadz, Bell, Elson or Allen's contracts to get them off of our cap for next season. Another option is to trade RJ, but would Hammond really trade him this fast? I don't think it will happen.
  22. Based on what? Griffey had an .829 OPS in the second half of the season last year, and a .777 OPS overall. In 07' he had an .868 OPS. Trot Nixon had a .678 OPS in 07', his last season where he saw significant AB's. I know he has slowed down a bit, but I don't think its fair to say that Nixon is close to the player that Ken Griffey Jr. is.
  23. Out of those choices, I'd pick Chuck James first by far and then Odalis Perez. I want nothing to do w/ either Bensen or Fogg.
  24. I've always been a huge fan of Prince, he is very talented and always plays hard. I hope he can improve defensively, but I think as long as him and Braun are in the middle of our lineup we always have a chance to win. I really hope that he gets signed long term eventually.
