  1. In one article Tracy Ringolsby mixed up the Brewers and Twins twice, and then wrote, "Mets pitcher, Odalis Perez". Now thats some impressive journalism.
  2. Thats what I figured at first, but the author says it again at the end of the article, so maybe the Brewers are really in on Blake. He did have an .800+ OPS vs. RHP's last season. Why would we sign a 3B to a 2-3 year deal if Gamel is supposed to be ready soon?
  3. According to this article from the Rocky Mountain News, we have put in an offer for Casey Blake, and its between us and the Dodgers for his services. Here is the exact quote: "* Cleveland officials indicate they still have interest in the return of third baseman Casey Blake, but indications are he will wind up with the Brewers or the Dodgers, depending on which one ups its offer from two years to three years first." http://www.rockymountainn...rt-on-market/?partner=RSS
  4. I think you are undervaluing Hardy a bit. Before last season, where he was very good, Span's highest season in the minor leagues was a .746 OPS. If we traded Hardy, I would hope that the headliner was one of there young aces instead of Span or Young.
  5. I just can't wait for CC to sign w/ someone, I'm getting tired of listening to all of the crazy speculation thrown out by the media day after day. Since I still haven't heard a word out of CC or his agent on where he wants to play, I will still have hope that he wants to play w/ the Brewers.
  6. Whats not to like about this signing, he's fairly young, signed cheaply, and has had major league success? Its a long season and you go through a lot of pitchers, you could do a lot worse than Jorge Julio as a middle reliever. Its not like this will stop us from being able to sign one of the closers available, it was a 1 year 950k deal.
  7. Apprantley this is not a done deal, wow this is happening a lot this off-season. http://www.freep.com/arti...RTS02/81204057/1050/rss15
  8. The Cards have acquired Khalil Greene from the Padres, apparantly for two relief prospects. I don't think much of this deal, Greene was terrible last season, but a change in scenery might help Greene improve. http://www.stltoday.com/s...75150029C606?OpenDocument
  9. I'm almost certain that Corey Hart will not be a 4th outfielder next season. He wil either be starting for the Brewers or on another team.
  10. If there was any way that we could get Hughes for Cameron I'm sure Melvin would take it in a second, but I highly doubt that happens.
  11. I think Angel Salome might make the 40-30 list. You don't find many 22 year old catchers that have a .974 OPS in the Southern league.
  12. I'd be interested in putting him in left field and moving Braun to RF, I think he is the best available free agent bat not including Texiera.
  13. I noticed that he played a varitey of positions this year including 3rd base, and he has played a lot of outfield in recent years also. I think he could be a very solid bench player, and left handed bat. He had 2 good seasons as a 23 and 24 year old in AA/AAA, but has really struggled since then. He could still be a pretty good player, especially if he can play 3B/OF decently.
  14. I'd rather pay a little more money to get K-Rod, I think he seems like a better bet to keep up his dominance over a 3-4 year contract.
  15. I think the main reason I would want Cameron over Roberts would be that he is a lot better defensive centerfielder, and besides that he is much less injury prone. I can see your argument that he has a better OBP, but not by enough to make the switch.
  16. I like the idea of getting Lopez as a backup infield/corner outfield option, but I think he is looking for a starting job, and probably will be able to find one. I've also heard that he can be somewhat of a bad clubhouse presence.
  17. I like the signing, looking at his numbers, and watching some of the videos, I think he could become a valuable loogy in the major leagues. That slider was pretty sweet. So after this signing, and assuming he makes our 25 man, our bullpen is starting to look fairly complete. Although, I would still like to see Melvin go after a proven closer to complete the bullpen. If we don't sign Sabathia, and we can get K-Rod at a reduced rate, I would be all for it. Villanueva McClung Riske Dillard Stetter Swindle
  18. So that is the only way you would do that trade? I see no reason why the Red Sox would pick up both of their contracts, Mike Lowell has been a very valuable player, and is expected to be fully recovered by spring training. I think the best case scenario would be to acquire him for a mid-level prospect, and have them pickup a small portion (4-8) million of the contract. I'm interested to hear what people think it would take to acquire Lowell, and if you think it would be worth it?
  19. Since the purpose of the Red Sox trading Lowell is to save money and open a spot for Texiera, I'm not sure they would be willing to pay that much of his salary. He is set to make 24 million dollars over his age 35 and 36 seasons, and is coming off surgery on his right hip for a torn labrum. From various reports I've seen, he is expected to be fully recovered sometime this winter, before spring training, but that is always a major question mark. A healthy Mike Lowell would solve our 3b problems and be a good proffesional #5 batter that would be able to protect Prince in our lineup. I would be willing to take a chance on him if it meant they would pick up a portion of his contract, and we would only have to send a mid to lower level prospect.
  20. I''m not sure why it matters how they got to be the prospects they are right now, but I think both are considered equally good prospects w/ Gamel maybe having a slight edge.
  21. If CC isn't resigned, and Sheets is resigned, and we still have money to get a closer, I for one would love to see Fransisco Rodriguez signed to be our closer. I think he would absolutely dominate in the NL, his K numbers might have went down, but so did his ERA and his OPS against him was .630. If we were able to get him w/ a 4 year deal, he would only be 30-31 years old at the end of the contract. I think it would be money well spent. If this would happen I would think that Cameron would have to be traded to keep the salary down, so then we would have to find a left handed CF.
  22. I definitely would not do this either, I think Parra has more value than Dejesus.
  23. I don't see why the Braves would do the trade, I think if they trade Johnson it will be for a starting pitcher.
  24. They wouldn't trade Hughes for Santana, why would they give him and another player up for Cameron?
  25. Good call cwolf, I would definitely have to put that in my top 10.
