  1. I like Melky Cabrera, he had a down season last year, but had one good, and one decent season as the Yankees CF, and could potentially turn into a good player, I mean he will only be 24 this season. If nothing else it saves us 10 million that we can now spend on LH bats and/or pitching upgrades. I also think that there will be more to this deal, and hopefully we will be getting another pitcher in the deal, please let it be Ian Kennedy.

  6. LinkI find it hard to belive that this is true, why would Melvin be meeting w/ Hoffman and Fuentes agents? I believe that they probably won't go out and spend $20 million on free agents this off-season, but I see no way that they won't spend any of the money. I would be willing to bet he took this from Melvin's statement to Haurdricourt about not being able to go out and spend the whole $100 million on someone else.
  7. I'd be ok w/ Hoffman, Fuentes, Jenks or Putz. I wonder if signing Hoffman might help make Peavey change his mind about coming to Milwaukee?
  8. I would like to see Braden Looper added, in his second year as a starter he had a respectable 4.16 ERA. I think he would be a lot cheaper, and if we traded for another starter he could be used in the bullpen.
  9. Lowell is actually signed for two more seasons at 12 million per year.
  10. I'm pretty sure it will be Mike Lowell who will be available if Teixeira signs w/ the Red Sox.
  11. I have a feeling, that if we do trade Cameron to the Yankees a lot of people on this site are going to be very disappointed in the return.
  12. The Dye trade did not go through.
  13. I'm not sure if its more than speculation, but in this article it lists the Brewers and Tigers as the most serious suitors for JJ Putz. The author mentions that he has heard that if they made a trade it would be for multiple players. Interesting read. http://blog.seattletimes...._to_set_closers_mark.html
  14. But we still have no idea who will be involved in this trade, or if it will actually happen. It is still very early, and there are lots of things that could still happen to make this a great off-season. Also, I don't know how you can consider Vitters, DeRosa, Pie, and Sean Marshall nothing. DeRosa is a very solid player, and the others all have a chance to be good major league players.
  15. Gregor Blanco had a .675 OPS last season compared to Cameron's .808, also Cameron is a big upgrade defensively.
  16. According to Nick Cafardo from the Boston Globe the Cubs are in intense discussions w/ Milton Bradley. I was under the impression that he was going to have to be a DH and part time outfielder. If they sign him and he is healthy and stays fairly sane, adding a 1.000 OPS lefty bat would make there lineup very scary. http://www.boston.com/spo...8/12/a_few_things_he.html
  17. I think its the fact that he was once considered a can't miss prospect who had a little major league success, and that Melvin is known for finding nuggets is why people bring up names like Corey Patterson. I for one, have no interest in Corey Patterson as a Brewer, unless he agreed to a minor league deal w/ and invite to ST.
  18. Yes, his career home road OPS splits are .905/.702, and his vs. RH/LH splits are just as bad at .858/.656. You look at that, along w/ his supposed inablility to play 3b anymore due to injury, and I don't think it would take much to get him. However, I don't think I'd want him.
  19. Do you have a link? I would be very interested in a deal for him or Ethier, but I'm not sure the Dodgers would be interested in a one for one deal.
  20. I would also add Tim Dillard to that list, I think he will be given a good chance to win a job out of spring training.
  21. Its not like he decided to go on vacation or something, the man had legitimate injuries. How is that earning the "treatment"? He tried to pitch through it last season, but his injury wouldn't allow it. Do you honestly think that w/out his contributions last season we would have been anywhere near the playoffs?
  22. According to this article, http://blogs.denverpost.com/rockies/2008/12/08/rockies-sign-c-phillips-brewers-bring-back-coffey/ , the Brewers have brought back Todd Coffey on a 1 year deal for very cheap.
  23. It seems like the jsonline sports staff really wants to get rid of Sheets. After Hunts column last week, which basically ripped him apart, and w/ TH repeatedly saying that there is basically no chance that he comes back w/ the Brewers next year, when it sounds like that is not what Melvin is saying at all. From what I hear, it seems like Sabathia is the first choice, and if he decides to go elsewhere we will then go after Sheets.
  24. We'll see when the BA rankings come out, by its still very impressive for him to be ranked this high.
  25. Congrats to Alcides, that is very impressive to be named a top 10 prospect in all of baseball. He must be way better than a lot of people around here think he is.
