  1. On Steve "The Homer" True's radio show yesterday, Tom Haurdricort said he thinks there is a 50/50 chance that Peavy ends up w/ the Brewers this season.
  2. That is great news about Mike Jones! I really hope he makes it up to the big leagues, nobody deserves it more than he does.
  3. Jody Gerut had an .845 OPS last season w/ half of his AB's at Petco, but he is being compared to Chris Duffy?
  4. http://www.619sports.net/ Here is a link that says its Jody Gerut for Tony Gwynn Jr., not sure if it is legit.
  5. DeRosa was traded to Cleveland, and this is the last year of his contract he is owed around 4 million. I really hope its for Derosa or Willie Harris.
  6. Do you think he is going to be that bad as a pro? I know he's only 6'7", but he has a 7'2" wingspan, and was absolutely dominant against some very good teams, especially before his knee injury. I guess I just think his game will translate to the NBA, I definitely don't think he will be another Tractor Traylor. He seems like a very driven player, and I think he'll do whatever it takes to succeed in the NBA.
  7. I like the idea, however I think it would take at least one more top 5-10 prospect to get it done. I think you might be undervaluing Cliff Lee.
  8. Great interview, I think it would be awesome to have him contributing to the site on a regular basis. I
  9. I'm hoping for Jonny Flynn from Syracuse, I think he will end up being a good NBA point guard.
  10. Felipe Lopez, Willie Harris, Ronnie Belliard and the grittiest player of all time David Eckstein could also be options. I would love to get DeRosa, I wouldn't mind Willie Harris or bringing back Ray Durham.
  11. Last season he had much better numbers on the road, .799 road OPS, and .684 home OPS. Also the only positions Nelson can play are 1b and LF. I also would rather have a guy that can play more positions, but I think he could be a very positive addition to our bench.
  12. La Hacienda in Madison has a good steak burrito, every time I open this thread I daydream about it.
  13. They don't have a long term solution at SS either, so getting one of the top prospects in all of baseball that plays that position might interest them. I think Escobar has more value than you think.
  14. I think that would be a great idea, I'm sure it would sell a lot of tickets. Did you ever get a response?
  15. Nate, how could you possibly know what the Padres are thinking? I know they are thought to want pitching prospects in return, but I don't think its that far off having Escobar as the main player in the deal. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but sometimes you tend to state them as if they are facts.
  16. Here is a scouting report from Soxprospects.com, here is the link - http://www.soxprospects.com/players/smith-chris.htm "Scouting Report: Average 89-93 mph fastball with a power 82 mph breaking curve and a pretty good change-up. Good knowledge of pitching. Missed most of 2002 season after an ATV accident, from which he took a couple years to recover fully. Great preparation skills. Throws off-speed pitches for strikes, often at unexpected counts. Pounds the strike zone with great command, doesn't walk many batters. Works quickly on the mound. Similar style to Mike Mussina. Converted to a reliever in 2007 where he demonstrated some very good success." Sounds like he has a chance to be a major league reliever, maybe he will be another Melvin nugget.
  17. I also hope that they stick w/ Brad Nelson, I think that when he eventually gets going he is going to be a very important player off the bench. On a side note, I was disappointed to see him get booed last night after he struck out, I hope that doesn't affect his confidence too much.
  18. I went on Priceline and ended up at the Hilton in Minneapolis for right around $40-$50 last season. The key is you have to try naming your own price, you can then pick the general area and if you select 2 stars and up you can find a decent hotel.
  19. My Madison favorites Weary Traveler's "Bob's Bad Breath Burger" is outstanding Old Fashioned, the #30 is awesome Dotty's Dumpling Dowry is also very good. The Spot in Kenosha also has great Burgers, although I'm not sure if there still open. Favorite Fast food - BK Bacon double cheese burger
  20. Wow, big mistake, sorry about that. I still think Bedard would be a very solid addition.
  21. I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on Vizcaino, he can't be any worse than Jorge Julio. He has been effective in his 3.2 innings so far this year, and has been very good against righties the last couple of seasons. http://espn.go.com/chicago/columns/blog?post=4091331&name=levine
  22. I think Bedard would be a good option because he is a great pitcher and he would also cost a lot less than Peavy or Halladay. I also don't see anything wrong w/ a guy that averages 6-7 very quality innings each start. To say that he wouldn't really help the Brewers is an absolute joke, he is a huge improvement over every one of our pitchers except Gallardo. In 07' he put up ace numbers while pitching half of his games in Camden Yards in the AL East, and so far this season he looks to be back to that form. He has been healthy two out of the last 3 seasons, and even pitched 81 innings last year, so I'm not sure why he would be considered more fragile than Peavy who only pitched 26 innings last year.( Nevermind, I looked at the wrong stats, he actually pitched 173 innings, thanks Spidey)
  23. Salome Rogers Jeffress Cain Escobar
  24. I thought it was pretty funny and has potential to be a good show. Although I am disappointed that Kath and Kim was canceled.
  25. RHP Daryl Maday was drafted by the Brewers and not signed out of Westosha Central High School in Kenosha county. He then went on to pitch at Arkansas and was drafted by the Giants. He has earned a spot on the rotation of the Giants AA team, the Connecticut Defenders after posting very solid numbers between A, A+ and AA last season. I have known him a long time, and wish him the best. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=maday-001dar
