  1. The Brewers recently haven't been in the mix with FA until later in the off season. The last big sign the Brewers had was Grandal and that wasn't until Mid January and the other big sign for the Brewers being Cain that didn't happen until the end of January. Expecting the Brewers to sign someone early is foolish at best. The Brewers front office seems to have a plan and that is to wait it out and wait for a player to drop to them at their price range or what they are comfortable in offering them. I believe the reliever market is coming up really good for the Brewers and there are still some decent options left on the board in Britton, Smith, Chapman, and others. Britton is probably the best out of the bunch and he is only looking for a one year deal. I could see the Brewers adding Britton, Rosenthal and one of Longoria, Harrison, Anderson or Profar. I don't believe any of these players will get more than a one year contract.
  2. Unemployment is based on who is paying you. So if your paychecks are coming from the agency then the unemployment claim goes against the agency and not the company you are working at. Technically you are working for the agency and not the company you are working at. You would need to look at how the agency handles unemployment claims. They may fight it because you didn't ask them if there are any temporary jobs available for the holidays for you to work at.
  3. It is not just up & in that is the problem for Hiura it is basically the whole upper part of the strike zone that is the problem. Since someone compared Adames to Hiura. By far Adames is the better player than Hiura and it is not even close.
  4. He has been averaging about 40 goals a season. If the strike and COVID shortened seasons wouldn't have happened he would be closer to Gretzky now. He could play into his 40's and get between 15-20 a goals a season then. I think he catches Gretzky but without those lost seasons he probably could have reached closer to 1,100 goals. Ovechkin is by far the greatest hockey player since Gretzky and the media really doesn't even care about Ovechkin getting close to Gretzky at all.
  5. Doubtful as Hiura had short period where he was good and then was basically garbage. In September Hiura played in 4 less games than McCutchen and only put up a 41 wRC+ while McCutchen put up a 98 wRC+. Hiura's splits by month: There is a pattern here he has an unsustainable BABIP which when it crashed his results started to come crashing back down. A .400 and .500 BABIP are not sustainable. Hiura is probably more of a .750-.800 OPS player than he is a .900+ OPS player. As for Hiura's future it is not with the Brewers. I fully expect him to be traded and he won't be on the Brewers OD roster.
  6. Feliciano's defense has just not developed at all. In the off season he has trained with the anointed one Yadier Molina. Even with him training with Yadier Molina his defense hasn't improved. I think he just ran out of time with the Brewers as it doesn't look like what they have been trying to do nor what he has been doing in the off season has helped him become better defensively. He may just need a reset and going to the Tigers may be that reset he needs. His bat is good enough at catcher really you only need to be a 85-90 wRC+ catcher to provide value with good to average defense. I really liked Feliciano but it seems like the Brewers wanted to move on and let him play somewhere else.
  7. I haven't looked at other teams but I think the same can be said about them and developing catchers. Catching is very difficult to produce and it is probably the most difficult because of how difficult the position is. A good catcher who can both hit and play defense is like finding a HOF QB in the NFL. The Brewers since 2012 have the 6th highest wRC+, 5th highest in oWAR, 1st in dWAR and 2nd in WAR. I would say that is pretty good. Notice a team that has a HOF bound catcher is only in one of these lists. While the development of the players haven't been all that great the results the Brewers have been getting at catcher have been phenomenal since 2012.
  8. Another bullet dodged. Even though this is a small deal I think the Angels will be regretting this after the first month of the season.
  9. Ovechkin with goal #800 tonight on a hat trick. https://www.cbssports.com/nhl/news/alex-ovechkin-scores-800th-career-goal-in-hat-trick-vs-chicago-joins-wayne-gretzky-gordie-howe-in-800-club/
  10. I don't think BTV is wrong with their valuation on Ruiz or anyone who was traded today. Sometimes teams make bad trades or perceived to have made a bad trade. There are many of them like Aramis Ramirez to the Cubs and others that I am probably forgetting right now. Bad trades happen all the time. The BTV site isn't perfect but it is the best that we have to guess at what teams are valuing the players as. It is a good tool to use to figure out trades and values. It also helps in proofing value or seeing a different value based on how someone else views the information.
  11. I think the A's like Ruiz because of his speed. Their current stadium requires the player to cover a lot of ground. I think the Brewers got an excellent return for Ruiz. So the Hader trade now is Gasser, Contreras, Yeager and Payamps plus Lamet and Rogers. I would say that is a really good deal. No idea how the A's and Braves valued Ruiz but it seems as though they valued him higher than any independent scouting would have valued him at.
  12. I think Arroyo or McLain would be who the Reds would be looking to trade. Marte wouldn’t make any sense. Marte probably has to move to 3B. De La Cruz looks like he could play SS, 3B or CF. I don’t think the Brewers and Reds matchup all that well in a trade.
  13. I was thinking maybe a trade with the White Sox for Grandal. Something like Grandal, Kath and cash for Hiura/Bello/Lutz/Whitley/Kahle. Depending on how much the White Sox kick in they would get a better player than what is in the list now. But at about $5-8m you could include two of the players in the list and it would be about a fair trade. Brewers get more offense at the catcher position without sacrificing good prospects and the White Sox get out of the Grandal contract and free up some money for other free agents. At $5m the Brewers are only taking on about $13m of Grandals contract for '23. Maybe they need more and that would eliminate Kath from the trade. Kath is a high strikeout 3B who is very solid defensively at 3B. The biggest problem with him are the K's but he is still very young so there is still time for him to improve.
  14. Doubtful on the rate hikes being pulled back. Maybe they won’t do a 50BP as they have planned and may just go with a 25BP. But another 75BP is also rumored to be likely. I think Crypto has another drop in it yet just like the market. Probably won’t see a jump up until end of December or mid January. May see a rally for both the market and Crypto for a few days and then see another dip or two before recovering around Christmas and New Years.
  15. Weeks was never the same after his wrist injury. Wrist injury's can kill a players power as you can't make the twitch movement as fast with your hands to catch up to 90+ mph fastballs. Even with that if I am the Brewers I am willing to take on that risk in trading Woodruff for Kirilloff. The Twins will need to include more than Arraez to get something more than a #3 type pitcher. Actually I am not even sure there is a #3 type pitcher out there on the trade market. If the Twins are shopping Arraez and just Arraez they are going to have to sell low on Arraez and get someone like Lauer or Houser. I don't think the Twins are going to find what they are looking for by shopping Arraez and they will need to include someone like Kirilloff to be able to make a deal happen. I think best case scenario for the Twins would be a Arraez for Garrett trade with the Marlins. I am not sure the Marlins would be interested in Arraez but that is literally the only fit I could find where it is just Arraez and not including someone like Kirilloff in a trade package.
  16. Canterino would be the third piece in the deal. Would be Arraez, Kirilloff and Canterino which gets you close to Woodruff's value maybe replace Canterino with another pitching prospect. But does that really make the Twins better? I don't think the Twins will get what they want with just Arraez they will need to include more to get someone better than what they already have.
  17. I don't believe he would. Arraez is about a 2 or 3 win player. That should give him a value of about $15m in surplus value while Lauer is about a 1-2 win player which gives you about $4m in surplus value. That is a $11m difference even if you up the amount on Lauer as he is a pitcher you would need to nearly triple his value for a one-to-one trade to work. I don't see the Brewers and Twins lining up anymore. I thought they lined up perfectly last year before the Brewers traded for Renfroe. I also think the Twins would be looking at Woodruff or Ashby and not Lauer or Houser. A Woodruff deal with Arraez in it would need to include more like Kirilloff and someone like Matt Canterino.
  18. No he hasn't said anything as I don't believe it has been brought up. I am assuming he would want starting SS money to make the move. The same happened with Machado I believe when he moved from SS to 3B. Turang at 3B offensively I would be fine with. Defensively he fits better at 2B/SS. On June 1st it would give him 126 days on the roster from June 1st to the end of the season. That would be cutting it close I think. So yeah maybe the 2nd week of June would definitely keep him from being a Super 2.
  19. For Super Two Status for 2022 it is set at 2.128 years of service time. So I think around June would put them in a safe spot to get that extra year of service time. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/super-two-status-set-at-2-128-years-of-service.html We won't know what 2023 will be set at until November of '23. I don't believe Turang will be on the opening day roster with Toro being included in this trade. I think Toro, Brosseau and Urias will platoon at 3B and 2B to start the year. I wouldn't be surprised if Urias is the permanent 2B if he is playing well. Third base could be an issue though with Toro and Brosseau. I am not sure Turang would be able to fix that as I don't think he profiles all that well at 3B offensively. I think at best you could have a Mark Loretta type with Turang at 3B though with less power and more speed. It maybe best to extend Adames and give him SS money to play 3B and move Turang to SS with Urias at 2B.
  20. I had a dream or a nightmare a few days ago of the Brewers signing Contreras to a 5-year $90m contract. Just saying……
  21. Gallo should be in the Brewers price range. He could be a good buy low type of a player. Duvall could be another buy low option if he is healthy that is.
  22. Hmmm I remember someone saying the Dodgers would have no interest in Adames.

  24. Middleton assigned to G-League.
