  1. Because it wasn’t a bad send. A bad send is when the catcher is sitting there with the ball and the runner is out by 2-3 steps. That play the runner was just barely out. It was a close play at the plate. If it is close it is always a good send regardless of the outcome.
  2. He was not. It was an extremely close play at the plate. The tag came from behind on Yelich. Which means the ball arrived just about when Yelich was in his slide. It is a good send as that is a 50-50 chance of being safe or out.
  3. Not really. It took a perfect throw and a perfect tag to get Yelich. Outcome was bad but the send was right. It was a really close play at the plate. A half second more and Yelich is safe.
  4. Probably was out but not enough evidence to overturn.
  5. Plenty of teams would take that bet on a 1-year deal. Hader only gets to $20m if he has a dominant September. Meaning he lowers his ERA and he gets more saves. If he continues on his current path it would be $15-18m. At $18m for one year there are plenty of teams who would be interested in Hader.
  6. Managers have very little impact on a season. At most you are talking about one or two game swing that a manager in baseball impacts for the whole season. This isn’t the NFL where a head coach has about as much of an impact on a game as the players do. The impact a manager has on a baseball game is just minimal at best. I don’t believe Counsell will be fired unless there is a new GM and even then I doubt he would be fired. Counsell also works really well with the front office and the analytic team. So there would have to be a serious issue that comes up for him to be fired. Not winning the NL Central is not a serious issue.
  7. I highly doubt the Padres will non-tender Hader. If anything they will trade him to someone like the Red Sox who need all kind of pitchers. The Padres are not going to just release Hader. It makes no logical sense for them to do that.
  8. In arbitration for relievers the biggest stat that is looked at are saves. Everything else doesn’t really matter. ERA is used but it is not a big determining factor in arbitration for relievers. It goes saves —> strikeouts —> ERA. With that being considered even if Hader sucks for the rest of the year he will still be getting $15-18m. If he recovers and is dominant in September a $20m arbitration figure is still possible.
  9. Wolf out for the year. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/college/uw/2022/08/29/wisconsin-badgers-backup-quarterback-chase-wolf-out-serious-knee-injury/7928401001/ Deacon Hill is now the backup QB with Freshman Myles Burkett moving up to the #3 QB.
  10. Right but I am confused about what my post had to do with their defense? Also Northwestern’s Oline looked really good. Maybe it was just Nebraska’s Dline is bad. But they looked real good in pass protection and run blocking. They created a lot of holes for the running game and there was basically no pressure on their QB the whole game from a pass rush.
  11. It is possible that Gasser and Rodriguez will not be selected but I think Knarr is a real possibility and Robinson I think is a lock as he is only a reliever. It is hard to predict if the Dominican and Venezuelan players will be on a winter league or not for their home countries. So that eliminates a few players for the Brewers. Most probably won't be reserves or make the teams out right. There is also the WBC next year and some of the players are probably going to want to play for their home countries if they are able to. Nationalism is a lot higher in the Caribbean, South American and Latin American countries than it is in the US so playing for their home country in the WBC is far more important to them than US players. That will also need to be taken into account. I always have the hardest time finding the pitchers for the Brewers that they will send to the minors so I just took the top ones that I thought had the best chance given all the variables. Will probably be wrong on most of my picks though I think Black and DeVanney are probably locks well as long as Black is healthy he should be a lock. May need to remove Mitchell depending on if the Brewers make the playoffs or not.
  12. It can be very difficult in judging players who are 16 and what they will do once they hit the minor leagues. Lara I believe was a top 5 or top 10 during his signing period. A lot of those guys flame out as it is impossible to tell how a 16-year old is going to pan out when they are signing. Just look at the MLB draft where players are 18+ and how many of the top picks don't even make it past AAA. Demi always had the power that you fantasize about in a baseball player. The problem he had is that he could never get to that power in a game as he was never able to make enough contact. Baseball is an extremely hard sport to break into. An injury to your wrist that wouldn't hurt you in the NFL can basically end your career in MLB. It is extremely difficult to make it from HS --> College --> MiLB --> MLB or HS --> MiLB --> MLB. For the players from other countries it is basically Little League --> MiLB --> MLB. A lot of the players are going to just not make it. I think the Brewers saw this and instead of spending all of their money on a few players they decided to go the route of signing as many as you can and hopefully you don't roll snake eyes on all of them. This is also the time when the Brewers were emphasizing power over all other aspects for hitters when drafting or signing international players. In the previous draft of the Lara signing the Brewers drafted Gatewood, Harrison, Stokes and DeMuth in the first 5 rounds. I believe Stokes was the only one that didn't fit that power profile that the Brewers were going after.
  13. Impressive that Yelich hit a HR against a LHP. Since he has been swinging over just about everything against LHP.
  14. The Badgers won’t be able to sleep walk through the West this year. Nebraska looks to be a better team at least offensively this year. Northwestern doesn’t look all that bad either and their offensive line looks really good.
  15. Watching the Northwestern and Nebraska game both teams look more athletic.. Also why are the players moving around before the snap? Don’t they know that is not allowed?
  16. I use this for hand soap it smells good and doesn't give me a skin rash like other liquid soaps do: https://dukecannon.com/collections/hand-soap-repair/products/liquid-hand-soap-naval-diplomacy The only thing that sucks is that is the more popular one that they make so it is constantly sold out.
  17. The minimum number of players a team must send to the AFL is 7-players. Of the 7-players 4 have to be pitchers and 3 have to be positional players. The AFL starts on October 3rd. https://ballparkdigest.com/2022/06/18/important-2022-arizona-fall-league-dates-announced/ I know a popular name is going to be Chourio but he maybe ineligible if he is a reserve player on a Venezuelan Winter League team. Here is who I think will be going to the AFL. Position players: INF: Tyler Black (He will have to be removed from the IL before he can join the team) OF: Garrett Mitchell INF: Cam Devanney Pitchers: RP: Cam Robinson SP: Carlos Rodriguez SP: Brandon Knarr SP: Robert Gasser These are the seven that I think have the best chance to make it to the AFL. I think the Brewers will give Frelick some time off as he has played the full year in the minors while Mitchell has had some time off due to injuries. I think Wiemer will also be given some time off to heal as it doesn't look like he has fully healed from the injury he suffered last year in the AFL. For the Venezuelan and Dominican players the Brewers have it is hard to say if they will be a reserve for their home countries teams. I wouldn't be surprised if Chourio will be on a Venezuelan Winter League team which will make him ineligible for the AFL.
  18. You are setting yourself up for disappointment if you think Frelick is going to be up with the Brewers any time soon. I don't believe he will be up before the 31st of August and if he isn't up before then he probably won't be up at all with the Brewers. The only way Frelick is playing for the Brewers before the 31st of August is if there is a serious injury to two or more OF's on the Brewers roster. Right now Ruiz is ahead of Frelick for being called up. If there aren't multiple injuries in the OF over the next couple of days don't expect Frelick to be playing for the Brewers anytime soon. I think the Brewers will either wait for September or next year for Frelick to make his debut with the Brewers. If Frelick isn't added to the 40-man by the 31st of August then he is not coming up at all. The 31st is the deadline for players to be playoff eligible unless there is an injury and the MLB commissioner approves the player being added. Frelick not being on the 40-man roster is probably the reason why he won't be called up. He could replace Davis but I don't think the Brewers will make this move even though Davis is a wasted roster spot right now. Ruiz will be the first one to be called up and I think he gets the call and plays on 9/2 against the Dbacks.
  19. I keep thinking today is Friday……..
  20. I am going to put the chances of Frelick being promoted at about 3%. He may not even be brought up in September. I think Ruiz is ahead of Frelick at this point and I would put him being called up at about 5%. If you are expecting Frelick to be called up you are setting yourself up for disappointment. It is just not going to happen anytime soon. Maybe the Brewers call him up on 8/31 but I wouldn't expect it. If he isn't called up by 8/31 I doubt he gets called up at all.
  21. Playoff eligibility is based on when the player is added to the 40-man and they have to be added by August 31st at 11:59 PM ET. Rosenthal is already on the 40-man.
  22. He has none. You would have to trade him to a team that he would approve to be traded to. So Dodgers or maybe the Angels. You won’t get anything back other than another bad contract.
  23. I will take it as Yelich barely ever lifts a ball against LHP. He grounds out more against LHP. I wouldn’t be surprised if Yelich drops below Hiura’s OPS line against lefties by the end of the year.
