  1. Average police response time is something like 3-5 minutes. This is also not something new for Miller Park I know of a few people who have snuck in and have taken selfies and other pictures on the field and in the dugout. I know of one person who did a pretend AB and circled the bases. The security tends to be very relaxed when it comes to things like this and will normally stop you before you can get on the field but they can't be every where all the time and most of the time if you are not doing anything crazy they will just ask you to leave.
  2. I would go in the opposite direction and have more umpire's on the field. Kind of like how the playoffs are ran where you have two OF umpires. I would also expand it even further than that and add one or two umpires for disputed calls. The umpires would then be able to see it in real time and then have the replay to judge safe or out and fair or foul. You would still need a home plate umpire at all times as you need one to be able to see many of the nuances of the game which includes catcher interference, foul tips, fair and foul balls, a foul ball hit off the foot, bunt attempts, check swings, hit batters by a pitch, relaying the count and outs to the batter catcher and pitcher and safe or out calls at home plate. There will always be a need for a home plate umpire they just don't need to be calling the balls and strikes anymore. To be fair the home plate umpires job is already one of the more complicated things in baseball as they need to keep track of the lineups and substitutions, calling balls and strikes, calling foul tips, calling foul balls, determining if a batter was hit by a pitch, catcher interference, safe and out calls, balk calls and batters interference.
  3. No thanks on drafting based on position it generally doesn't work all that well.
  4. I don't see J.D. Martinez opting out but Castellanos is more than likely going to opt out and I would put that one at an 80% chance that he opts out. Of the free agents that I think the Brewers have a chance at signing I like Turner, Profar, and LeMahieu. My off season plan: Profar 3-years $27m Turner 3-years $57m Taijuan Walker 6-years $96m (team option for the 5th year option with a buyout of $9m and a mutual option for the 6th year with a buyout of $5m) Released: Arcia, Claudio, Peterson and Pina Options declined: Braun and Sogard This should put the payroll after all of the arbitration and pre-arb salaries around $110-115m. This probably won't happen due to COVID and no fans this year but if it is looking like there will be fans next year I wouldn't be surprised if the team goes on a little bit of a spending spree to bring in some excitement for next year especially if this year doesn't end on a high note.
  5. 30+ free throws in one game for the Lakers nahhh the refs have no bias at all we have all seen this before..........
  6. Nearly all of the doors at Miller Park are unlocked majority of the time. The freight delivery where the players come in is notorious for being unlocked and not all that well guarded. I worked for my family's business one summer and the freight guy delivered our delivery to the Miller Park loading dock we were on the other side of Miller Park and were wondering where our stuff was all day. Finally got a call from the Miller Park security group at about 3-hours before a game started and they said we had to get our stuff out of the loading dock as the players were having a hard time getting in. Positive note I got to meet Prince Fielder he even asked if he could help us move the stuff. We had to bring in the excavator just to move the stuff. I still laugh about this every once in a while whenever I see Prince. My grandfather was like you aint lifting this stuff up big guy.
  7. Even the Reds? The Reds suck. They really do. They got hot a week ago. They'll probably drop at least two this weekend to the Twins. That team is not very good. Of the teams in the Central both AL and NL only the Twins (102) and the White Sox (116) have a WRC+ above average.
  8. Not really the case as the stadiums are about the same dimensions wise since the 80's.
  9. Zero chance unless Giannis is involved.
  10. It would be the third year in a row that the Cubs have played horribly going down the stretch and into the playoffs apparently getting rid of Maddon didn't fix this issue.
  11. Probably the nicest person in the NFL Gale Sayers has passed away. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29951448/chicago-bears-hall-fame-running-back-gale-sayers-dies-age-77
  12. Road Warrior Animal has passed away. https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/wwe-road-warrior-animal-dead-60 Probably my favorite tag team of all time.
  13. Questionable? It wasn't anywhere near the strike zone. The umpires this year really must want robo umps calling the strike zone because they have been absolutely horrible this year at calling balls and strikes. It is time to end the umpires calling balls and strikes it is just dumb to allow one person to impact a game this much.
  14. Depends on the plane if it is a B-17 or B-25 count me in. If it is just a regular transport plane no thanks. If I had the money I would go to Russia and pay to fly in a MiG.
  15. Kind of reminds me of Syria. While there were bombs and rockets being dropped on a city that was really close to Damascus there were still parties going in Damascus. I will have to search for the images again but there was one someone posted on instagram that shows an explosion just outside Damascus but the party still went on at the club.
  16. I don't think there is a way to incentivize people to stay isolated. It would be a whole cultural shift and change and it is a little bit too late for that as people become set in their ways. The elementary age kids will probably be more accepting to socially distance themselves when testing positive but the current age group is just not going to happen. Sorry wasn't attacking you just attacking the model and the model builder on not putting this in a model. To me it is just someone being lazy and not putting it in as we have data that shows this age group is rather risky. It is the reason why insurance models for these age groups weight heavily on high risk. It just doesn't make any sense to me why you would model something knowing this age group tends to participate in activities that are high risk and then expect them to isolate themselves when having a positive test. The data for STD's alone shows us that this would be a false premise and would need to be included in the model. It just doesn't make any sense to leave this out in the model unless the person or people behind the model didn't want to include it for some kind of agenda which happens a lot in these models.
  17. It is just naive to not model in something where the majority of the age group think they are invincible and can do anything with very little to no consequences. That age group tends to rebel against everything and anything which also includes common sense. Just putting it at 10% of that age group not following any kind of guidelines or mandates which would also include knowingly infecting other people should put you within your error threshold. In this age group there have been studies about STD's being knowingly transmitted. So there really isn't an excuse to not have this in the model all of the data points are there. In this age group you have plenty of data that shows people who have HIV and knowingly that they do have it but yet don't tell their partner or continue to participate in activities where transmittal is very high. If you think this age group is going to act differently because of a pandemic that is not naive but just poor modeling on the modeler.
  18. Generally speaking kids are petri dishes of diseases. I wouldn't be surprised if the elementary aged group have already achieved an immunity to it or close to reaching it. Not saying they can't get it but they may have built up some immunities where it mitigates it to being a mild cold or a mild flu. There has also been some recent studies to see if the flu vaccine may actually be hurting Americans more than it is helping. At least the theory is that the countries that do not hand out a flu shot each year are showing a faster turn around and are not seeing a resurgence of cases. Though this hypothesis may be wrong it does have some scientific merit to it.
  19. The Middle and High School age group is basically the same as the college aged group in terms of social interactions. There really isn't much of a difference between the three groups when you are looking at social interactions. The only difference would be workforce involvement and the College and High School aged groups basically share this with a small percentage of the Middle School aged group sharing this also. If you are modeling something and you don't take into account people in the United States defying a mandate your model is incomplete. Just looking at the history of the United States you have to take this into account. The United States has been a very rebellious country when it comes to mandates on freedoms as this can be seen in almost every single generation. The only years where there were very few rebellious times you have to go back to the 40's and part of the 50's but the rebellious age then came back starting in the 60's and hasn't stopped since.
  20. That kind of makes sense that Middle and High School would have a break out as the ages you are talking about in Middle and High School are closer to an adult age. These are also the ages when puberty hits and you start to see more intimate interactions in this age group. There is also more affection being shown by Middle and High School aged people than you would see in the elementary aged people.
  21. Christian McCaffrey also out for a few weeks with an ankle injury supposedly. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29937403/carolina-panthers-christian-mccaffrey-likely-multiple-weeks-source-says
  22. I mean there were like 17K people there. I think the odds were pretty good that someone was going to get it in the next week. I'd be shocked if it was only one. Unless they start leading to outbreaks I don't see how one fan ending up with it leads to anything. The last part was more tongue in cheek and more along the lines of the knee jerk reactions that have happened so far this year. I am certain that when the teams that don't have fans in attendance see this they are going to be more cautious and probably extend their no fan rules if another situation happens which it will.
  23. Uggg I hate all of these remastered games that are hitting the video game market. I get why people want them but it just seems very lazy to just rehash and resell a game with just improved graphics. There isn't really anything new being added to these games other than updated graphics.
  24. Not sure why you walk Yelich in that situation. Yes he is Yelich but he hasn't been Yelich all season it would have made more sense to pitch to Yelich there than to walk him but that is why Matheny is coaching for the Royals and not a team that has a chance to make it to the playoffs.
  25. A fan tested positive for COVID-19 that attended the Chiefs game last week. Countdown to the NFL going 100% no fans in 3....2....1.......
