Looks like Florida has won this one and the Stanley Cup! It was a great series though a disappointing last game.

So many needs and no meaningful picks available to the Bucks. They could get lucky at 47 but I highly doubt whoever they pick at 47 will be relevant for the Bucks. The Bucks also have Doc coaching so the rookie won’t play anyways.

My opinion is still the same he may be an option but he doesn’t fit the recent criteria that the Brewers have been looking at. He has some serious power potential but with a huge hole in his swing when dealing with off speed pitches. He will have to fix that to be successful. If the Brewers think they can fix that then he is an option at 20. His hit tool is what is holding him back specifically the issue with off speed pitches. If he were better at that he goes in the top 10 maybe even in the top 5. If he can’t fix that he has a top 10 pick power swing going in the later half of the first round because of his K issues. If he can stay at catcher that is. Kind of reminds me of a younger William Contreras behind the plate defensively before he came to the Brewers. So maybe the Brewers staff can fix that. Otherwise power wise he wouldn’t be bad at 1B or LF.

Stevenson would have been a Melvin regime type of player. His hit tool is lacking and he may K too much to get to his power. Stevenson is going to have problems hitting off speed pitches. He has a very big stride and tends to swing extremely hard. So if you think you can fix that sure draft him but otherwise he maybe someone who just never develops. Defensively scouts are split on him some say he is a catcher and others saying he is not. Very comparable to Schwarber power wise but he is not the hitter Schwarber is or was coming out of college. If he were a better hitter he would be a top 10 pick.

Devers is a DH or 1B but mostly a DH. Devers is not a 3B so no need to trade Chapman. If anything they may trade one of their 1B or DH but not Chapman. So Flores or someone like that would be who they would give up. You may get them to listen on Schmitt but that is probably a Misio+ package or a Peralta plus something else package.

Yelich has been producing for the past three years though. With him being just as good as Devers in '23 and '24.

I believe Boston won this trade with only having to take on Hicks salary. Harrison while he hasn't been great is still a youngish starting pitcher. Tibbs and Bello should have required Boston taking on some of Devers salary. Not exactly sure what the Giants are doing here.

The Red Sox must be taking on some salary because this doesn't make sense if they aren't.

Reportedly it is Hicks, Harrison and more. Hicks is a salary offset and Harrison is probably the best player going back to Boston.

As for as K's go the Brewers are in the middle of the league in terms of K% at 22% which ranks 14th in the league. With runners in scoring position the Brewers are in the top 10 when it comes to K% at 19.4%. The offense is definitely missing some power in the lineup but with more power comes more strikeouts. The Brewers have definitely moved more to a put the ball in play type of team over a team that hits for a lot of power.

I think Peralta will want more than $20mm per season. You are probably looking at something closer to $24mm a season and something like 6-8 years. I don't really want the Brewers to do this as paying $20mm a year to a pitcher is just not something a team like the Brewers should be doing. I would rather see that money spent else where and spread around. For a deal to work you probably have to give him a signing bonus for next season around $10mm which would push his contract for that season to $18mm. So a contract of something like 6-years $125mm plus a $10mm signing bonus sounds about right for Peralta. The 6-years $125mm would start in 2027. That would cover his age 31-36 seasons. I just don't believe that would be a good idea for the Brewers to do. One injury and you are paying Peralta $20mm to sit on the bench and recover and any down swing in his stuff and you are looking at a Suppan like contract for the Brewers. The best option for the Brewers is to trade him. The risk is far too high of an injury or regression of his performance than the reward is.

It is also a bad thing. When the Brewers have hit the ball hard there have been times I am like how did that ball not make it out or how did the fielder catch that it should have went above their heads. The ball is definitely not carrying like it should be. That can be good for the Brewers pitching but it is also bad for the Brewers offense.

Hitting someone just to put them on is just dumb. I don't care what message it sends. Getting the batter out and just playing the game is a better message to send. Instead you give them a free base you are sure showing them!

The baseball has changed again. MLB has confirmed the ball is creating more drag this season and isn’t flying as far. On average it is flying about 4 feet shorter this year than in previous seasons. MLB has admitted they haven’t made any changes on purpose this year. The players have also noticed this and have brought it up with the MLB commissioner who has admitted they have noticed a change also. Those weee definitely designed changes previously on the drag of the ball with what the MLB’s commissioner has confirmed recently.

I think the lack of production from Ernesto is the reason he will get at bats taken away and not Vaughn. -
This has more to do with Mitchell and Perkins coming back soon more than the recent acquisition of Vaughn. Both Mitchell and Perkins have more defensive value than Bauers which the Brewers definitely value more.

You are over valuing Civale. With his contract he didn’t have much value. The Brewers did better than I thought they would. I wouldn’t have thought they would have had to bring back a bad contract in order for a trade to work. Which with the added cash in the trade looks to be what his worth was. -

He definitely is not with his salary. His salary right now is limiting his trade value. I wouldn’t be surprised if the White Sox decline the 2026 option as it is only a $2mm buyout. Plus I doubt many teams will give up anything better than Rodriguez. The only way the White Sox get a better return is if they eat a majority of Robert’s contract or take on another bad contract in return. Robert has very little to no value right now. If the Brewers offered up Rodriguez for Robert right now without the White Sox paying any of Robert’s remaining salary I think they take it and run.
