  1. This is really more about demand than anything else. Take the WNBA for instance the average ticket price for an WNBA game is about $20 and they average about 1.6 million fans per year. The WNBA also brings in $25m a year from their TV contract with ESPN. So in total the revenue that we know about is about $57m a year for the WNBA. That is less than what any single NBA team makes in one year. This is the main reason why female athletes are paid less than male athletes. The whole league of the WNBA provides less revenue than one team in the NBA. Also if you look at FIFA the reason the women's teams make less is because the men have a $400m pool while the women only have a $40m prize pool I believe it is. This is all tied into sponsorship's and goes back to my main point in my previous post of men's sports having a higher viewer rating than women's sports. It can be seen in the WNBA and any other women's sports. Outside of gymnastics women's sports is viewed less compared to men's.
  2. The WNBA'S whole TV contract is 1/10 of the NBA's the last I looked and could be lower. I believe the Brewers have a TV deal close to what the WNBA's is. The Brewers ticket sales are also above the WNBA's as a whole I believe. The last I looked the WNBA had an attendance around 1.3-1.6 million per year. Womens sports in general are less attended by both men and women. Men still are the #1 audience for sports the last time I looked at viewership for sporting events. Revenue for women's sports compared to men's sports are barely breaking even if at all. There just isn't a demand for the product that is put out there even when the product is far superior to the alternative. US men's soccer is an inferior product if you go by success of a team but still drives in more demand than the women's product. This would be a very interesting case study in economics.
  3. To be honest I would rather just stick with Hill and Bledsoe at PG than trade for a PG like Paul or others. If we could somehow get Beal from the Wizards that would be awesome but I don't believe the Bucks have the cap room nor the trade capital to make it happen.
  4. Prospect lists is a horrible way of evaluating value. After the top 50 you basically have the same player with the same warts it is basically just a guessing game after 50. You could even argue that anyone beyond the top 25 are basically the same player. Players beyond the top 50 are players who scouts like because of athleticism or some other non arbitrary reason.
  5. My thoughts exactly except I don't think Westbrook will command all that much more than what is rumored to be a package for Westbrook. If the Thunder want to wait until the trade deadline maybe the Knicks will step in and give them the picks that they would want. The only other team that seems intriguing for the Thunder would be Minnesota who could offer Wiggins and a couple of draft picks for Westbrook. I do agree Bledsoe is a better option with Giannis and Middleton. I would really prefer Beal but I am not sure how the Bucks could get him without trading Bledsoe to another team. Ideally a Hill, Beal, Middleton, Giannis and Lopez would be pretty freaking awesome. Depth wise the Bucks would be hurting but I am not sure there is a team in the East that could stop that starting 5. The Nets come close but Middleton and Lopez become the deciding factor in a 7-game series.
  6. Not really supporting this but there are some rumors the Bucks are interested in Westbrook. Possible deal would be Bledsoe, Irsan/Leuer, and draft picks to the Thunder for Westbrook. I think this would be a horrible deal as Bledsoe is similar to Westbrook in terms of how they score. Westbrook is a better scorer but Bledsoe is by far a superior defender. I can see why this would be appealing to the Bucks front office but Beal would be a better match.
  7. Whose guide are you using to get a surplus value for Turang, Ashby, Dubon, and Supak. The highest value for Turang I can find is 16.6. Not going to speak for And That but he is using OFP. I believe Turang's OFP has probably risen since the beginning of the year I am guessing that Turang is closer to a 60-65 graded prospect now and Ashby closer to 55-60 rating. That puts Ashby at a solid #3 starter and Turang as a regular or an all star capable player. This would increase their value higher.
  8. This is exactly why they damn well better have a new rotation arm by this time next week. Stearns would be irresponsible as a GM to NOT have a new arm by next week. I think he's way too passive to begin with...the fact he has done NOTHING to this point doesn't help his cause with me, and if not a new arm by next week, then I'm really done with him. Right now they have no one to replace him with but once Gio comes back I fully expect Houser to go from the rotation to the bullpen where he belongs. There really isn't a starting pitcher out there that I want the Brewers to go out and get as a rental. The Nationals have come back to life and that throws them out and the Mets are going to want a lot for Wheeler more than what he is actually worth. Bumgarner is out there but the Giants are not going to give him up for anything but multiple top 50 type prospects (not going to happen from any team). Boyd is going to cost way too much for the Brewers to get if they are asking for Tucker from the Astros their ask is way to high for the Brewers to even meet. The only realistic option for the Brewers will be Bumgarner and that is only if the Giants come down from their demands and if they do more teams will be in on him so that actually removes the Brewers again. The best the Brewers can hope for in a turn around from their starting pitchers is to hope Chacin and Gio will be better in the 2nd half than what they have been, more so Chacin than Gio.
  9. Not really a gesture as Woodruff fits the mold of a high K type of a pitcher that are normally picked for the All Star teams. In the NL Woodruff is ranked 5th in strike outs, 6th in K/9 and 6th in K%. I would say he is rather deserving to be picked to replace any pitcher who would have been held out of the All Star game.
  10. Well looks like a bullpen day for the Brewers. Houser really needs to be moved back to the bullpen where he was starting to shine. The problem here is that the Brewers don't have anyone to put into the rotation to replace him.
  11. Teams with the prospects and the need for Hader at this year’s deadline: 1.) Twins 2.) Astros 3.) Rays 4.) Braves 5.) Dodgers You can cross off the Rays, Twins, and Braves. These type of moves are things they don't normally do especially the Rays. That leaves you with the Astros and the Dodgers. I don't see the Dodgers going out and paying what it would cost to acquire Hader and I don't see the Astros doing it either. Again it is way too early to be trading Hader. This maybe an off season move but is probably more of a 2021 move. I just don't see a team trading away the talent needed for the Brewers to make a trade. This is the same issue the Angels had with Trout. There is basically no team out there that will even offer the amount of value to fulfill the kind of trade that would be needed.
  12. Haven't used Google Wifi. I have this setup in my house:
  13. Castellanos is a real butcher in the OF. Other than Kris Davis he might be the next worst OF in the game. Anything he contributed with the bat would be given away with his glove. He's basically a DH.Thames has been doing a pretty decent job at 1B the last 3-4 weeks. I don't think 1B is a position of real concern against RH pitching. LF-CF-SS seem to be the biggest problems going forward. Castellanos is playing RF which is normally a harder spot to play of the corner OF and his uzr/150 is -6.8 in RF while Braun's uzr/150 in LF is -6.2. Going from Braun to Castellanos in LF to me is not a concern. I believe that Castellanos may improve on his defense in the OF if he were to move to LF in Milwaukee compared to RF in Detroit. Castellanos offense will more than make up for his defense in LF. Braun moving to a platoon spot with Thames will improve 1B and LF at the same time. Offensively it adds another #4 or #5 type of a hitter to hit either behind Moustakas or Thames. Castellanos would immediately become the 5th best hitter on the team. His improvement over Braun and Braun's improvement over Aguilar would be a significant jump in production.
  14. Braun should be a 1B/DH because defensively that is where he should be playing.
  15. Off topic but every time someone writes DDV all I can think of is this:
  16. I think a platoon partner for Braun makes sense that also helps at 1B. Castellanos makes the most sense depending on cost. Arcia or Dubon at the #8 or 9 spot in the order is fine don't need to upgrade there. Pina is fine as the backup catcher. The biggest hole is at 1B and LF which can be covered by 1 move if done right. The next biggest hole is at starting pitching but that is going to cost way too much. Relief pitching is probably the best bang for your buck here.
  17. I could definitely see a team like Houston who has a great farm system and a deep major league roster being willing to offer a ton for Hader. As for Yelich maybe one of these teams with deep prospect lists would be willing to offer a ridiculous amount. Never would I suggest trading either Hader or Yelich just for the sake of making a move. Maybe a team would be willing to make us an offer that we just couldn't turn down and we should be open to that possibility. The chances of us moving either of them anytime soon is remote and I was just throwing the idea out there for discussion. For the Brewers to trade Hader to the Astros it would cost the Astros Whitley and Tucker and I don't see the Astros even entertaining this even for just one of them.
  18. That 2021 option obviously gets declined by the Brewers and it really should be after this season. Braun is done being a regular everyday starter. He is at best right now a platoon 4th OF bat who should be a DH.
  19. I don't see the Brewers trading Hader as the Brewers won't get the return they need for him. With 4.5 years of return you are looking at an ask of 2 times what the Cubs gave up for a half of a season for Chapman. Who is going to pay that? The same with Yelich there would be a lot of interest but I don't see a single team that would give up a Sale+ like return for Yelich.
  20. How bout making changes only when warranted, based upon real time monitoring of all the players. Another words, working a little harder at that site to be more accurate. Serious question > how do you think a front office would value Rasmussen right now? Grisham right now? That is near impossible to keep updated. I don't believe a teams valuation of either player has changed all that much. Fans tend to over value and under value players based on recent success or failure.
  21. I thought the Reds ballpark played similarly to Wrigley where it is near impossible to hit HR's early in the year. I might be remembering incorrectly.
  22. Dave Nilsson in '96 Thanks - it was only partially rhetorical, but looks like our favorite Aussie still holds the title! He is actually the only Brewer to do it. The list is very small for this about 50 or so times this has happened in MLB so if it does happen you are basically watching history as it is not all that common. In fact one of the rarest was in 2002 when Bret Boone and Mike Cameron hit back to back HR's in an inning twice. That has never happened previously or since.
  23. Mey, with the two Lopez's, Ersan, Wilson(I keep accidentally typing Henson when I want to say DJ Wilson) and maybe/maybe not Leuer, I think the tank would have seen a lot of DNP's. I would have liked him better than Robin Lopez though. That didn't make much sense to me. I did just see something about the Bucks are working on something else. An optimist might think they're working on adding a nice 2 guard with the TPE and maybe using DDV or someone to throw in, but my guess is it's something like Pau Gasol will sign for the Vets Min on a non-guaranteed deal. After this flurry, if we go into the season with this squad, I'd be fine. Especially since the POTENTIALLY turned Brogdon into a 12 million dollar trade exception, a 1st and 2 sends. Still would rather have Malcom, but there are a whole lot of players who could help us at that price. Like maybe THIS YEAR would be a good year to trade a promising young player at the deadline for someone like JJ Reddick as opposed to the year they were just a contender to lose in the 1st round and gave up a 19 year old future all-star. I'd be pretty shocked if we added anyone else that really tipped the scales one way or the other at this point. I would have replaced Ersan with Kaminsky if at all possible though that would have been rather tricky to do. I would still have gone out and got the other Lopez as I don't see Kaminsky as a true C more of a PF than a C. I wonder if the Bucks could possibly get someone like Trey Burke or trade for Avery Bradley. Maybe Ersan for Bradley but that would leave the Bucks overly guard heavy if they did that trade. I would still like to see another guard who can play the point as I am not confident in Hill staying healthy the whole year and I think Burke can play a bit of the point.
  24. Yeah offense again. Maybe the trick to the offense hitting is to have them get no hit for the first few innings.
