  1. This season on 3-0 counts batters are getting hits 41.7% of the time and walking 90.8% of the time. Taking a 3-0 pitch more than doubles your chances of getting on base. There's no reason to swing the bat ever. So wait you would rather have a walk than an extra base hit? Why take the walk when the extra base hit puts the player in a better position to score? Quick edit even after missing the strike at 3-0 this year on 3-1 counts batters are hitting this line: .375 .703 .675 1.378 Again another advantageous position for the batter. Every batter should be swinging at pitches that are in the strike zone and should not be looking at them when they are up in the count. I don't care if it is bases loaded bottom of the 9th and the count is 3-0. I want the batter swinging at that pitch if it is a strike the batter can handle. Anyone who puts up a take sign on that is just lunacy.
  2. Not swinging at a 3-0 count when you get a pitch to hit is the definition of stupid. 3-0 count splits: 2015 378 .948 .750 1.698 2014 353 .942 .697 1.639 2013 353 .948 .716 1.663 Yes you read that right the past three years on a 3-0 count batters have a 1.600+ OPS. If you are not swinging at a pitch you can drive you are an idiot and need to be benched immediately as you are not putting the team first instead you are putting the dumb unwritten rules of baseball ahead of the team. There is no logical reason to be sitting there watching a pitch on a 3-0 count NONE. Your own stats prove the point that you're trying to refute. Swinging on a 3-0 pitch is only successful roughly 36% of the time. Meaning if a batter swings at every 3-0 pitch they get they are still going to get out most of the time. And it would be even worse if you swing at every one because sometimes pitchers just can't throw strikes, so now you're swinging at crappy pitches when you could have just walked. By count 3-0 has the highest batting average so no. So you wouldn't want a .360 hitter????????
  3. What valuable pieces did the Brewers get for Sheffield? Are you talking about the great Matt Mieske? or better yet the ace Ricky Bones? or the hall of famer Jose Valentin? Which one of those were a valuable piece again?

  5. That is interesting and I would have went with Nelson over Pomeranz as Nelson has more team control left. I wonder if a Lucroy deal is on the table with the Red Sox and the Brewers are just waiting on the Rangers to find a third team or become serious with their offers. I actually believe the Brewers have given up on trying to get Gallo and the Rangers are just being reluctant on giving up any of their young pitching prospects.
  6. If the Brewers make the playoffs next year does that mean the rebuild is over? If the Brewers make the playoffs in 2019 instead of 2017 does that mean the rebuild is over then? I don't think the Brewers are ever going to be done or should be done with rebuilding. The Brewers should always be acquiring young talent when it benefits the organization so the rebuilding should never really be done and to answer the original question it will be done when it is done.
  7. Not really surprised by the Braun comments. Kind of what I expected what Texas is trying to do. I am going to assume the other teams behind Texas are Boston, Atlanta, Cleveland, and Houston. Interesting note on Jimmy Nelson I wonder if the Red Sox called and asked what it would take and felt Pomeranz was a better fit when giving up Espinoza.
  8. Why should Stearns be looking for guys in AA and above? That just doesn't make any sense at all. The Braves definitely have the pieces that match up for Lucroy. Allard or Albies would be awesome gets for the Brewers. Albies is still young at 19 and in AA and has played in AAA this year. A trade that brings in a haul of Albies, Sims/Soroka and Ruiz would be an awesome trade for the Brewers. With Albies you have a top 50 currently ranked prospect and you have a 3B who is in AAA right now holding his own in Ruiz. I would prefer Soroka over Sims as Soroka is more like a Gallardo type where as Sims who has the higher ceiling but has a much lower floor. That may even be an overpay for Lucroy right there. Obviously Swanson is not available and I actually like Albies over Swanson the Braves can keep Swanson just give me Albies. If anything the Brewers could sweeten the deal by adding Gennett to the deal which gives the Braves their starting 2B.
  9. LOL softball team that is funny oh wait you are being serious.
  10. I wonder if this will be in the team store. Seems like this would be a popular item.
  11. Don't be surprised if Lucroy is traded to the Braves. While the Braves are not competitive this year they are looking to be putting a competitive team on the field next year when they open their new stadium. Plus with the young pitching staff that they have getting a veteran catcher like Lucroy will be something they will be looking for. I don't see the Braves trading Teheran or more accurately I don't see a team giving up their #1,2, and 3 prospects plus more to get Teheran so he is going to be in their rotation next year. The Braves are going to be big spenders in the up coming free agency and they are going to be the ones making the biggest noise during the winter meetings. If the Braves do the trade during the deadline: Brewers send: Lucroy and Gennett Braves send: Kolby Allard or Ozzie Albies, Lucas Sims or Mike Soroka and Rio Ruiz Why the Braves do this Dansby Swanson will be on the Braves team next year and they are opening up a new stadium next year. I think the Braves are going to try and get Lucroy before the off season when they will have to compete with more teams. Right now the Braves are dealing with a reluctant Rangers team in parting with their prospects an Indians team that looks to be competitive but may miss the playoffs and finally the Red Sox who are looking for pitching right now but if they can't find it will go with a bat and Lucroy fits here as they are set at nearly every other position. The other surprise team that could be in on Lucroy are the Astros but like the Indians they may not be a factor in the playoff race.
  12. It is but that was the last credible rumor
  13. The last real rumor about Lucroy was in the off season with the Cubs and the Cubs looking for a 3rd team to trade with to get Lucroy. The Cubs did not want to trade any of their prospects to the Brewers.
  14. Actually AA players are usually better than their AAA counterparts. The majority of baseballs young talent lies in the AA level. If you are just trading for players in AAA you are more than likely going to be getting players who are fringe MLB players at best. Players in AAA are normally either there for a very short period of time, are blocked, or are just roster filler players. So yes the Brewers need to be focusing on A and AA players. Plus we are talking about Aaron Hill here he is not part of the Brewers future. The Brewers did pretty well for an aging infielder who is having a nice year. I thought they were only going to get a AAAA player and that was it. Basically a player you would be advocating for that is in AAA. The Brewers right now need to focus on A and AA players. If a player is in AA that normally means depending on how good the player is that they are only about 1.5 years away from being in the majors. Depending on the player it could be longer or shorter.
  15. The Brewers sure do have the Nationals number this year.
  16. Under(2) Hill Carter It is a sellers market but the number of buyers for what the Brewers have just do not match up for Lucroy or Braun. Very light return and this forum implodes when these are the only two trades that happen.
  17. Durant to the Warriors. http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/kevin-durant-leaving-thunder-to-join-steph-curry-warriors-things-to-know/ Ummm yeah so right now it looks like the Warriors are the best team in the league by far. If the Bucks sign Wade you would have to expect MCW is gone as their just isn't enough room for him on the roster if Wade is signed by the Bucks. Right now with the two signings I don't see much playing time for him especially the way Ennis played towards the end of the season. I think Ennis is going to be the starting PG for the Bucks.
  18. I would replace Devers with Michael Chavis. I like Chavis better than Devers as Chavis is more likely to stay at 3B than Devers is. From the recent looks that I have seen of Devers on video and reading some scouting reports he sounds more like a 1B. Hopefully Devers is able to tap into his power potential because his defense at 3B is Ryan Braun like right now. Chavis offensively reminds me a lot of a younger Rickie Weeks where all of his power potential is in his bat speed. Unlike Weeks though Chavis still needs to learn the strike zone and be more patient. Offensively he is probably more along a 15-20 HR a year type of a player with a lot of doubles. Chavis defensively is a future gold glove caliber 3B he reminds me of Nolan Arenado defensively. He has a strong and accurate arm and great footwork at 3B like Arenado. I wouldn't mind a trade like this: Espinoza, Chavis, Ockimey, and Raudes for Lucroy and Smith. Espinoza is obviously the headliner here with Chavis. Ockimey and Raudes could be big gambles I really like Raudes as he is only 18 and he already knows how to pitch. His stuff isn't there yet and he could add some more velocity to his fastball which currently sits in the low 90's though he works through the game around 88-92 but generally stays around the 88-90 mark. He should be able to through adding some strength add a few more MPH but his command is what is great as he has a great feel for 2 of his 3 pitches he just started throwing a change up a couple years ago. Raudes curveball is a plus potential pitch and he can throw the curveball where he wants. Raudes reminds me of a young Gallardo. If Raudes hits his potential you have a solid #1 or #2 type pitcher or at the worst you have a solid #5 type pitcher Mike Fiers comes to mind here. I believe Raudes and Ockimey could be the real steals of this trade. Ockimey looks like he has some serious power potential he maybe the Red Sox player that is more untouchable than Espinoza or Devers. The reason Moncada is untouchable is due to how much the Red Sox have invested in him more so than his prospect ranking. Dombrowski though hasn't found a prospect that he won't trade in the right deal yet but I believe ownership would kill a deal that included Moncada in it due to the amount of money the Red Sox gave him. The only way the owners of the Red Sox would allow Moncada to be traded is if they were getting a lot of value coming back or at least half of what they gave Moncada to sign. If Harper or Trout are not coming to the Red Sox then Moncada is not going to be traded unless there is a significant amount of cash coming to the Red Sox.
  19. Wade on a 2-year deal wouldn't be all that bad if the Bucks can trade MCW.
  20. I have soured on Devers a bit. I like Chavis at 3B more than I do Devers. I am not sure Devers is going to be able to hit enough to stay at 3B offensively and is probably better suited offensively at 2B. Espinoza would be a real prize in any trade with the Red Sox. I believe adding in Nelson allows the Brewers to get Espinoza plus others. The Brewers and Red Sox match up nicely for a trade more so than any other team besides the Rangers.
  21. This statement maybe true in bizarro world. If a 3.60 ERA is someone who looks like a non tender candidate in 5 or 6 years then someone needs to tell the Red Sox that they need to DFA David Price now before he gets to the end of his contract!!!!!
  22. Here is an article back in 2011 from Baseball Prospectus. With Arnold in the front office now I wouldn't be surprised if players are slow tracked through the minors especially pitchers. Batters on the other hand will be fast tracked through the minors. This is of course if the Brewers follow the Rays example of moving pitchers slowly through the minors and hitters quickly through the minors. Though this doesn't really change all that much as the Brewers were already doing this. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/u/images/MiLBPA.png http://www.baseballprospectus.com/u/images/MiLBIP(1).png
  23. The average age of a MLB rookie is 24.4 years old or at least it was the last time I checked. So no 26 is not old for a rookie by most standards. Plus if you are coming up as a rookie at the age of 26 which would be perfect for Milwaukee as that player is going to be very inexpensive for their prime years. Meaning once the player hits free agency in their 30's you can just let them go. Hitting .230 in the Minors and hitting for power will keep that player in the organization. Teams don't give up on players who hit with power no matter what their batting average is. Take Carter for example and countless others. If the player is just hitting .230 with no power and poor defense then yes they will more than likely be gone.
  24. I wonder if a Lucroy and Nelson to the Red Sox for Espinoza/Benintendi, Kopech, Chavis, Ball or Ockimey. Basically it breaks down to Lucroy brings in Espinoza/Benintendi and Chavis while Nelson brings in Kopech and Ball or Ockimey. Nelson is a solid #3 pitcher who can be put in the Red Sox rotation now and for the next few years cheaply. If the Brewers put Nelson on the market right now he is going to command at least 1 if not 2 of a teams top 10 prospects plus another in the 15-20 range. The market is completely bare of pitching this trading deadline that players like Nelson will have an extreme price tag which is more than they are actually worth. Will a team pay for this maybe maybe not it all depends on how desperate a team gets. Since Nelson is controllable for beyond this season he fits in well for any team that is going to be trading for him as he won't be a rental and is still relatively young yet. Another team that would be a fit for a trade like this would be the Dodgers. Lucroy and Nelson to the Dodgers for De Leon, Verdugo, Barnes, and Imani Abdullah. The Dodgers need starting pitching after Kershaw as everyone behind him has either been ineffective, injured, or coming off injury. This is another spot where Nelson slots in nicely as the teams #3 or #4 starter.
  25. The Braves have made Teheran available but their askingame price is around something like Moncada, Devers, Espinoza and another piece. Which means you are going to have to pay if you want Teheran and the Braves are not budging on their asking price for Teheran. The A's may put Gray on the market but as soon as they do that they are going to be looking for 2 players from a teams top 5 plus another in the 10-15 range. These players are not going to be cheap. As for Guerra he has some value but not all that much. If you are lucky you might get a young AAAA player for him.
