Wei Chung Wang 23. Victor Roache 24. Angel Ventura 25. Malik Collymore left a lot of players off who should be in the top 25. There is just a lot of talent in the Brewers system right now that could rank from 10-25.
  2. Good points. All games would need to be night games. I don't think attendance matters, we're only talking about one interim season. They would need a new, permanent home in 2018. I don't think the D-backs would allow for a AAA team to be placed in Phoenix even temporarily. The next best option would be in Tucson but the University of Arizona baseball team currently plays there now but that shouldn't be all that much of a problem to schedule around their games as that would only be for the 1st half of the season. Majority of the games would have to be at night.
  3. A trade like this would be kind of like what the Tigers did when they got Scherzer. If it only takes someone like Jungmann or Taylor why not?
  4. You are correct this is an old research paper but it is still very true today. https://www.aeaweb.org/articles.php?doi=10.1257/jep.14.3.95
  5. Montero is definitely an upgrade over anyone the Brewers have at 1B in the minors.
  6. This makes me very excited, Brewers and Bucks games are the only reason I haven't cut the cord yet. It's just like a regular TV service, so no games are blacked out. However, when I look at the channel lineup with my zip code it shows as FS Detroit. They have a seven day free trial, so I'm going to try and see. I'll be very upset if FS Wisconsin isn't offered but all of the other local FS are. The FS channels are only local and are dependent on where your IP address is placing you. If your IP address is placing you in Michigan you will only get FS Detroit. There are a couple of ways to change this you can use a proxy which I don't believe will work with PS Vue or you will have to get a VPN I haven't tried this but this is more likely to work than anything else but no guarantee on that. I just started my trial on this and I am not sure if you can or can not watch Bucks/Brewers games. There is a 7-day free trial I would just start the free trial on the day that you know there is a game that will be aired and see if it works on that day. The worst that happens is that it doesn't work and you can cancel the subscription at no cost other than the time you put in.
  7. The Angels are also somewhat in the same position that the Brewers are in though their spring training facilities have been updated recently. The Angels are in the same spring training facility that the then Seattle Pilots and Brewers were in originally. The Angels extended their lease at their spring training facility around or at the same time the Brewers did with theirs. I don't think the Angels have an out clause like the Brewers do. If the Angels have an out clause it would be wise for the Brewers to team up with the Angels to get new facilities or to update the Angels current spring training facilities.
  8. With MCW out for the season who plays the point now?
  9. How about the Brewers paying Garza's salary in order to get a better prospect? Garza and $5m for Austin Barnes!
  10. From what I have heard from family that lives in Peoria/Glendale/Surprise, this area is the next area in Phoenix that is anticipated to see a rapid amount of development. If that is the case, then perhaps the Brewers complex will be the spark that ignites that development. Nate, given your location is Phoenix, is this what you are hearing as well? I actually live in the area of where the new proposed spring training facilities are planned. It is growing but it is not as fast nor as strong as some are making it out to be. The other side closer to the 17 is definitely growing as there is a lot of construction on that side business wise. Mostly just housing where the spring training facilities would be.
  11. Maryvale is like Locust street area E of the 43 in Milwaukee. That is the best that I can think of. During the day you will be fine but do not be there late at night it is definitely not the safest part of the city to be in. To also clarify the proposed new Brewers spring training facility would be in the middle of no where in Peoria. The closest gas station to the new proposed spring training facilities will be about 8 miles away. The only thing that is close other than what would be on Happy Valley is a grocery store and a few small restaurants. This is the general area where the new proposed spring training facilities would be located at: link
  12. Schwarber from the eye test looks equally as terrible in the OF. Schwarber should really be a DH or a 1B he looks like Adam Dunn in the OF towards the end of Adam Dunn's career.
  13. I agree. I would rather see the Bucks play Ennis more at the point than bring in Lawson. At this point in the season what would it hurt to have Ennis play more at PG?
  14. If I am going after a catcher I would go after Austin Barnes from the Dodgers.
  15. I wouldn't give up on Parker but if there is a trade out there that brings in a better player with about the same type of control that the Bucks currently have on Parker I would make the trade. I still don't believe Parker is going to be a super star like player but definitely will be an all star like player or at least the very minimum an above average player. I still like the Monroe signing the Bucks just need a PG bad. I was hoping Ennis would be that PG but it looks like the injury has slowed him down as much as Parker's injury last year has done to him. Maybe Ennis can become that pass first PG Kidd is looking for and unlike MCW Ennis can actually shoot from deep at a decent rate at least he did at Syracuse. I also see Ennis with a higher basketball IQ than MCW. To me Ennis is a slower Brandon Knight with a higher basketball IQ.
  16. Nothing to back this up but it feels like the Bucks are having an extremely hard time at putting teams away in the 4th when they are up. No killer instinct at all. After the game last night it feels like they have been doing this all season long.
  17. And that is why I said in that trade the Rangers would want the Brewers to take on Hamilton. There just wouldn't be enough playing time and they would need to find 3 40-man roster spots. Hamilton won't have value until at least the all star break and just about any team will take a gamble on Hamilton at just over $6m is not much at all. Plus he is only signed through 2017 at worst a team is looking at Hamilton as a DH for $6m which is well under what you could get in free agency. So Hamilton has some value how much will be determined on how well he plays this year. Taking on Hamilton and gambling on him being good or at least decent is something the Brewers should be doing. Taking the gamble and if it pays off gives the Brewers more prospects and it is not like Hamilton or anyone like Hamilton will be blocking anyone of any importance. At worst you have him blocking Middlebrooks at 1B no big loss there.
  18. I have been thinking about this a lot lately. If the Kings in the off season said we will trade you Cousins for the 2016 1st round pick and Parker/Giannis would you have done that? Remember George Karl had Ray Allen traded for Gary Payton so crazier things have happened!
  19. I would think in that situation the Rangers would probably want the Brewers to take on Hamilton or someone else from their roster. Financially it wouldn't hurt the Brewers in that situation plus the Brewers could put Hamilton at 1B against righties and then sit him against lefties. He would basically become Lind 2.0 for the Brewers and should bring back a good piece or two at the deadline or after the season. I just don't see enough playing time for Davis and Hamilton in Texas and you would really be hurting Davis's value as he needs a lot of PA's to get in a groove for him to be effective offensively. Don't forget the Rangers also need to get playing time for Profar and Gallo is going to be on the Rangers at some point in the season if he is not in this trade. If it were Luc/Smith/Davis to the Rangers I would say one of Gallo, Brinson, Tate and Mazara, plus pick two from this list: Morgan, Forbes, Guzman, Trevino, Parks, Leclerc and one of Profar or Hamilton. I believe the Rangers would prefer Hamilton over Profar as they would be short on depth at IF positions if they trade Profar and with the addition of Davis you start to add to the depth that the Rangers have in the OF so losing Hamilton wouldn't hurt as much as losing Profar would be for them. I wouldn't be mad if the Brewers had to take on someone like Hamilton from the Rangers as it would give the Brewers another asset to flip at the deadline. DH and a 1B/OF could be very valuable going down the stretch and you could possibly get another 75-100 ranked prospect in the system for Hamilton at the deadline. The worst that could happen is that Hamilton stinks and the Brewers need to pay him just a little over $6m for 2017 not a bad deal at all.
  20. So 9 teams are interested in him. My guess on the 9 teams that are interested: 1. Dodgers 2. Yankees 3. Cubs 4. A's 5. Reds 6. Brewers 7. D'backs 8. Rays 9. Nationals
  21. There is plenty of value for the Brewers. Guerrieri being the biggest value in another year Lucroy alone wouldn't even get Guerrieri you would need to give up someone like Arcia to get him. Betts is a really good hitting catcher and if he is able to stay at catcher his value will be that of Lucroy's. While Seitzer is someone that the Brewers can put at 1B now and share time with Carter at 1B and possibly even take over. Seitzer brings a lot of OBP to a team that is going to need a lot in the future. Peterson can be a real boom or bust but I am willing to bet on him becoming a boom either at 1B or in the OF. While Zunino has been rushed to the majors he just barely has over 100 games in the minors and most of that was in AA. Zunino would start out in AAA for the Brewers and actually be allowed to develop instead of trying to develop in the majors. If Zunino develops for the Brewers that will be 2 players who would rank in the top 25 of any prospect list. Betts is another player who can develop into a top 50-100 type player. With Peterson being a big question mark he is another top 100 type of a player. The only filler player is Seitzer and he is a very good filler type of a player.
  22. How about this? Lucroy to the Mariners for: Mike Zunino, Alex Jackson, and Peterson Jackson and Khris Davis to the Rays for: Taylor Guerrieri, Richie Shaffer, Chris Betts, and Cameron Seitzer. Brewers get Zunino, Guerrieri, Peterson, Betts and Seitzer. Mariners get Lucroy and Shaffer. Rays get Davis and Jackson.
  23. The Brewers were also in on Moncada and Abreu. Its not like they haven't tried.
  24. I think you could attach the DH at least in the NL to the starting pitcher. Once the starting pitcher is removed from the game (other than by injury) the DH then goes away. This would still have an impact on the strategy of the game in the NL at least. I think you would see more Pedro Alvarez's of the world getting DH spots and veteran players staying around a little longer in the NL especially ones where their defense has completely collapsed but still hit for a decent amount. I doubt teams would employ .600 OPS fill-ins. The Brewers for example would have Khris Davis or Santana to play the DH spot along with Carter and Braun to fill in at times. These players just like in the AL are going to be high slugging players.
  25. By chance was this article written by Clancy?
