  1. Not really surprised by this as ESPN is part of the ABC network which has started to just do no research at all and then maybe fix it at some later date or time. I wonder if reporters and editors know that there is this thing called Google.
  2. Because the Brewers have a lot of OF that can be your #4,5, and even 6th choice. There is Gindl, Schafer, and Ke. Davis all of which are about equal in talent to Kh. Davis. If you can trade one asset for an asset that you have an adequate supply of for something you have very little of then you need to make that trade. If you can get a solid player at a position of need for Kh. Davis, Gindl, Schafer, or Aoki you make that trade. Basically what it comes down to is if you can trade Player A for Player B and player B improves your team more you should be making that trade. Losing Kh. Davis in a trade where you get something in return that is more valuable to your team should be a trade that is made every opportunity that you get.
  3. With 8 games remaining it is extremely safe to assume that the Brewers will be picking in the 7-10 range. It is almost nearly impossible for the Brewers to be picking outside of the top 10 right now. With 4 more games left against playoff teams and 4 games against the Mets I am fairly certain the Brewers will be picking in the 7-10 range. It is actually unlikely that the Brewers will have a better record or the same record as the Phillies, Padres, or the Giants. The Rockies, Blue Jays, Mets, and the Mariners are all teams that look to be within range of the Brewers. I wouldn't be surprised if the Brewers got swept by the Mets in the final series as I believe the Brewers haven't played well in NY the past few years. I also wouldn't be surprised by a 2-2 record against the Mets. If the Brewers get swept by the Cardinals tomorrow this will only increase the Brewers chances of finishing in the 7th or 8th range. I don't believe the Brewers have a chance in catching the Mariners so at best I have the Brewers with the 7th pick and at worst with the 10th pick in the draft.
  4. No, no, no, no, no, and oh yeah what was my first answer? yeah it was NO. That would just be a horrible trade and a waste of an asset in Davis.
  5. I still like the idea of trading Weeks to the Royals for someone like John Lamb. With Lamb you are getting a huge question mark and depending on how much money needs to be moved from in the deal I believe it would be a fair trade for both the Brewers and the Royals.
  6. At my current job we are switching from a database where we get data dumps and then configure that data into reports into Excel. But we are going to be movng from that to COGNOS where we can build the report and it will just auto update every day week or monthly. I have some questions first are there any good books out there like Mr. Excel? Also is there any kind of classes I could sign up for that would take me from beginner to intermediate or advanced? Any sites that have some good tutorials unfortunately I can't use Youtube at work.
  7. The Rays make sense here. Not sure Davis gets you Hellickson but he may after the year Hellickson is having this year. Hellickson is also heading into Arb year 1 next year and he is a Boras client so it is not very likely he will sign an extension with the Rays plus the Rays have 3 putchers that will cost less and should give them the same or better value.
  8. Yuni should start every game at 1B because he can make runners tag themselves out! http://mlb.mlb.com/images/8/9/2/60594892/phillips_betancourt_high_five_1l0pxt8b.gif
  9. They did try and trade Lohse but there wasn't a big demand for starting pitching this year during the trade deadline. The offseason is where you can expect a trade to happen especially with the Royals losing Santana. Lohse is probably a better fit for the Royals than Santana would be for them next year as Lohse would fill in almost perfectly as a #3 or #4 pitcher for them. As for signing someone I would like to have Johnson, Kazmir, Volquez, or Jimenez on a 1-year or 2-year deal I would prefer the 2nd year to be a team option year but that won't happen. I don't see Hellweg or Nelson starting out on the major league roster next year unless they have a great spring as both need more time in AAA to work on their control. Of the four I mentioned I would prefer to have either Johnson or Kazmir as I believe both would be very tradeable during the deadline.
  10. See New York Yankees 3b of 2014...ARod suspended. Youkilis gone. Oh and DH? BRef lists Yankees DH as Hafner. 3 Players all of whom will be gone for 2014. Don't know who we could get from the Yankees. I guess it really all depends how much of ARam's salary they can handle to remain under the luxury tax threshold. But the Yanks are who I see working a trade with for ARam for 2014 season. The Brewers would have to pay at least half of Ramirez salary for next year plus the $4m buyout for the Yankees to be interested at all. Then there is the issue of the Yankees having basically nothing that they would trade for Ramirez. The Yankees minor league system is worse than the Brewers right now.
  11. I would say no as I believe Rogers had the higher upside than Bailey did in that draft. I still believe Rogers is the more talented player it is just that Bailey hasn't been as injury prone as Rogers has been. Rogers has shown to be as good as Bailey at times when he has been healthy but he has never been consistently healthy. Now Bailey is the better pitcher now but if I had to do that draft all over again I would still take Rogers with that pick given his upside and cost compared to Bailey's upside and his cost. Bailey has just recently figured out how to pitch successfully at the age of 26 in 2012. It is not like Bailey has been this dominant pitcher his whole career it has just been recently that he has put everything together. Bailey was in danger of being released well at least according to Reds fans and I don't see that being any different than if he were in the Brewers organization.
  12. For trying to be realistic this is rather unrealistic. The only part that is realistic is the last sentence. There is no way the Orioles would accept that deal or even think about doing that trade unless there was a starting pitcher with at least a #2 upside in that deal. Gennett and Davis are platoon players not everyday players so I don't see why the Orioles would want to give up 2 years of Norris for basically bench players. The Orioles already have someone in their farm system that is better than Gennett and is younger in Jonathan Schoop. Davis would struggle to find any playing time in the Orioles OF and would be regulated to a platoon role. I am struggling to see the reality in your post other than the parts about Weeks and Hart. I don't see Melvin trading for anyone as there isn't much to trade to get value back. Davis is probably the best player to trade to get value back if he continues on his hot streak which I doubt he will. Davis is a nice 4th OF but you would have to get lucky and have a team over pay for him the Rays would be an interesting team to talk to in terms of a trade. I would try to get a #3 type of a starting pitcher upside for Davis which would be a little bit of an overpay. Ramirez so far has increased his stock the Brewers would still have to pay the buy out in a trade but you could see a decent prospect or two in return for him. Ramirez might be the hottest name this off season as there is virtually zero quality free agent 3B. I don't expect a trade involving any of Gomez, Braun, or Lucroy though I would definitely listen on Gomez and Lucroy as Braun is just to toxic and teams are just going to low ball offer on him. One of Lohse or Gallardo will be traded if the right deal is out there. I doubt there will be though Toronto looks to be an intriguing trade partner for Gallardo but that would be a quantity over quality type of a trade. The market for Lohse will be smaller than Gallardo's so I don't see him being traded as the value in the trade wouldn't be enough to make the trade. Other teams that would be interested in Gallardo would be the Yankees, Red Sox, A's, Mets, Padres, Giants, Dbacks, Jays and the Rangers while for Lohse you have ???. I can't really think of a team that would be interested in Lohse maybe the Braves or the Royals but I believe both of those teams would rather have Gallardo than Lohse. Lohse is probably the least likeliest player on the Brewers to be traded and that has more to do with the teams than it will have to do with what Melvin wants in return.
  13. What about Josh Johnson as a injury plagued signing for next year? If he pitches good and stays healthy he could be a very valuable trade piece at the deadline which would help in getting another player into the farm system. Johnson would also not be blocking anyone in the minors at least not until later in the year at least as both Nelson and Hellweg need to work on things in AAA.
  14. I was just pointing out why D'vo is not eligible since Haniger was selected as the Brewers below AA level player and D'vo is currently in A+. I also think that it wouldn't be wise to have D'vo play anymore games after the season ends. I hope they do not send D'vo to any of the winter leagues but I fully expect to see D'vo in one of them.
  15. First the Brewers were never fairly solidly locked with a top 5 pick as the talent on the team even without Braun is better than the Astros, Marlins, Cubs, Twins, and the White Sox not to mention the Brewers pitching is actually better than those 5 teams. The Brewers are at about where they should be without Braun, Hart, Weeks, and a horrible year by Gallardo which is in the 6th-10th pick range. Everyone below the Brewers right now are either of equal talent or better. I fully expect the Giants, Blue Jays, and the Phillies to be on pace with the Brewers or better than the Brewers. The Brewers play the Cardinals 6 more times this month, 3 versus the Reds, 7 vs the Cubs, 3 vs the Pirates, 3 vs the Braves, and 4 vs the Mets. I am rather confident the Brewers will wind up with a pick in the 6th-10th pick range with the schedule that they have left to play. Thornburg is also returning to the rotation. It looks as though they were trying to limit his innings when they moved him to the bullpen as Gorzelany is now moving back to the bullpen and will only be considered as an emergency starter going into next year as he is going to stay in the bullpen. The Brewers also own the tiebreaker (get the lower pick) against the Angels, Giants, and the White Sox as all of those teams had a higher winning percentages than the Brewers last year. I don't see the Brewers picking outside of the top 10 as the schedule that they have left is rather difficult as all but 11 games are against playoff teams. The Braves series maybe a little bit easier as they maybe resting some of their players at that time. The Brewers would have to win both series against the Cardinals, sweep both series against the Cubs, and split the series against the Mets to finish outside of the top 10. I doubt the Brewers will be able to do that at worst I have the Brewers finishing with the 10th pick in the draft which is still a very good pick.
  16. Buxton sure looks like a complete player already at a young age. Also from that article:
  17. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/winterleagues/about/?league=119&id=player_elig Haniger is the Brewers below AA level player that they are allowed to send. This is why D'vo is not one of the players being sent.
  18. Ugh. RAFAEL. Not YUNIESKY. Rats. Yuni wouldn't be out for the year. You actually have to be able to get to a ball to throw it so Yuni wouldn't be out for the whole year he wouldn't even miss a game!

  20. Not sure why you keep on suggesting this but this would be a horrible idea. Gallardo would be a rather horrible relief pitcher as it is not his velocity that is the problem here it is that he keeps on nibbling which is why he gets high pitch counts and doesn't stay in the game as long as he should. It would be a disaster waiting to happen if he was moved to the bullpen. Gallardo in the bullpen is just not a good idea.
  21. I would seriously consider trading Davis. While his hot streak right now is nice I don't believe he would be able to do this over a course of a full season the same with Gennett. If a team offered a decent player for Davis I would take that offer. For example I believe the Rays could be a good match and I would take just about any of their pitching prospects. When I look at Davis vs Aoki I see more value in Davis in the trade market than what Aoki could bring. This is a type of a move the Brewers need to make they need to cash in on someone like Davis and get a position of need. Trading Davis would be the best option to get the kind of talent the Brewers need. I believe Davis could bring back a pitcher with an upside of a #1 but probably projects more as a #2 or worst case scenario a #3. While Aoki I believe at best you are getting a #3 type who has a floor of a #5.
  22. Sorry to hear about this but you have some time. Do you know where in the process the foreclosure is in? In Wisconsin the law states you can stay in the property until the confirmation order is signed. I am not sure since it is the county that is foreclosing on the property if this applies or not. This usually takes about 6 months from when the process begins until the confirmation order is signed by a judge. Maybe some of the lawyers here can help you out with this as I could only find this doing a quick search on google.
