  1. Has anyone played Dragon's Dogma?
  2. I actually prefer the Brewers playing for a losing record here on out. The Brewers need to beat the Marlins for that #10 pick. Plus the Brewers are not that all far behind the teams that would be in the 5-8 spot.
  3. Aren't NTCs fun?! I appreciate that Melvin tends to stay away from NTCs. Iirc, only Gallardo & Braun have them right now. You forgot Hart, Wolf, and Lucroy also have limited no trade clauses. Lucroy's and Wolf's no-trade clause are limited but do not state if they can block to certain teams or not. From Cots: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/?page_id=71 Randy Wolf lhp 3 years/$29.75M (2010-12), plus 2013 club option 3 years/$29.75M (2010-12), plus 2013 club option signed by Milwaukee as a free agent 12/9/09 10:$9.25M, 11:$9.5M, 12:$9.5M, 13:$10M club option ($1.5M buyout) performance bonuses: $0.125M each for 190, 200 innings $4M of 2010 salary deferred $0.25M assignment bonus if traded limited no-trade clause Corey Hart of 3 years/$26.5M (2011-13) 3 years/$26.5M (2011-13) signed extension with Milwaukee 8/2/10 $1M signing bonus 11:$6.5M, 12:$9M, 13:$10M limited no-trade clause (may block deals to 15 clubs) Jonathan Lucroy c 5 years/$11M (2012-16), plus 2017 option 5 years/$11M (2012-16), plus 2017 club option signed extension with Milwaukee 3/26/12, replacing 1 year deal signed 3/12 $0.5M signing bonus 12:$0.5M, 13:$0.75M, 14:$2M, 15:$3M, 16:$4M, 17:$5.25M club option ($0.25M buyout) if Lucroy qualifies as a Super 2 after 2012 season, salaries increase to $1.9M in 2013, $2.3M in 2014, $3.3M, $4.25M in 2015 limited no-trade protection
  4. Yes and you will probably be the one exploding the most.
  5. Angels look like a perfect fit. MLB-ready pitcher = Garrett Richards SS prospect = Jean Segura 1B prospect = C.J. Cron I would rather have Richards, Segura, and Cowart over that package. I would even take Cowart over Olt.
  6. Because the Braves have stated they were unwilling to give up a significant piece for a rental. They obviously saw Delgado as expendable and not a significant piece if they are willing to give him up for Dempster. I do not see why the Braves would have given up Teheran for Greinke when they could just give up Delgado for Dempster. As for Delgado I see him more like a right handed version of Manny Parra which means like every pitching prospect in baseball they could take many different directions. The out come for both Parra and Delgado early in their careers looked (looks for Delgado) good. I still wouldn't want a package to be centered around Delgado though that type of a deal would have been a Melvin type of a trade.
  7. This is a good trading partner for the Cubs but on the reverse it would be a bad trading partner for the Brewers. The Braves were not going to give up Teheran in a deal for Greinke which leaves the Brewers with a very uninspiring pieces. If the Brewers would have traded Greinke to the Braves and only got Delgado and another prospect not named Teheran it would have been a very bad and poor trade by Melvin.
  8. The best AB against Chapman was by Gomez and Braun makes Gomez look like Ted Williams. Funny.
  9. I would rather have Cowart than Segura.
  10. Why? It is not like Hanley would just be a rental you would be getting Hanley for the next two years and he could easily be put back at the SS position. For a total of about $33m dollars for 2013 and 2014 that is not a bad deal. The Brewers would have to think about extending Hanley after his current contract is done and if they could lock Hanley down for about $17-19m a year that would be a nice punch in the lineup with Braun and Hanley for the next 5-8 years.
  11. I think the Rays would value Maldonado rather highly. How highly is the question and I don't believe they would give up someone like Cobb. Maybe they would give up something a little bit less than Cobb. Maybe someone like Felipe Rivero or on the high side Chris Archer. Though Archer maybe pushing it and is probably somewhat untouchable. Over at raysprospects.com they have Archer as their #1 prospect. I would think that a realistic option would probably be Felipe Rivero or more realistically Alex Torres.
  12. Might want to try: http://www.nationalrrmuseum.org/en-Us/about/hours/default.aspx
  13. Last year he had an injury and the year before that he was rather young for where he was. Not sure there is anything different. What I would like to know is if that knee injury is hampering his catching at all.
  14. I would be all over that deal. I'd actually prefer both Cowart and Segura and leave out Morales (as he's almost 30 and not sure if he's fully recovered from his devastating injury). But if that was the offer, I'm on it. Could always just flip Morales either in the off season or to another team for another prospect or two. Boston would be a good fit in the off season as I don't see Ortiz resigning with the Red Sox. I would take Bogaerts straight up for Morales.
  15. I wonder if the Angels would do this kind of a deal: Morales, Cowart/Segura, and Richards for Greinke and the after the 2nd round comp pick. I would rather take Morales over Bourjos as Bourjos is rather redundant for the Brewers. I would rather have a platoon of Schafer and Gomez over having Bourjos on the team. Between Cowart and Segura I would take Cowart over Segura as I am not confident in Segura sticking at SS. If the Brewers were confident in Segura sticking at SS I could see them taking him over Cowart but to me I believe Cowart is the better talent. In A+ Cowart currently has a .962 OPS and I really believe that he will be a great 3B in the majors and I believe his a more sure bet than Segura is. I am more high on Cowart than I am on Olt from the Rangers.
  16. I would prefer Drew over Escobar. I believe it would cost a lot less to get Drew than it would to get Escobar.
  17. You could get a laptop for around that price but you would want to be updating and buying a new one again rather soon. I would go with an Ultrabook as they are smaller and thinner and don't skimp on the keyboard size. This is about the cheapest I could find an Ultrabook which is very much like a Macbook Air. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834127667 If you are dead set on something smaller and thinner but don't really want to pay for the price of something like an Ultrabook or a Macbook Air you might want to look at a Tablet and using an attachable keyboard with it. Asus makes a Tablet with a keyboard already attached to it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230425 Or you could do this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834127536&cm_sp=Cat_Tablet-_-YTVideo-_-YT34-127-536 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823169009 Total would be just under $500 not including shipping though Newegg at times has some free shipping offers.
  18. Feliz is basically off the table as I don't see the Rangers trading him at all for anyone really. With that the Brewers need to get back at least a player who fits in the first round or early second round pick area in the draft. With the new CBA teams that lose players in FA and offer that player a qualifying contract do not get the signing teams 1st round pick. The signing teams 1st round pick just disappears with the new CBA. The team also losing the FA does not get a second pick (compensation pick) with the new CBA. The team losing the player gets a pick somewhere between the 1st round and the 2nd round. I am actually leaning towards the Brewers not trading Greinke at all as I don't believe any of the teams interested in Greinke are willing to give up any talent that the Brewers would look at being an adequate return for Greinke. So if Greinke does not resign the Brewers basically get a compensation pick for losing Greinke.
  19. I find it rather boring and dull. The characters feel very dull and uninspiring to me and the main character feels like someone fused O'reily, Beck, and Olbermann together into one person.
  20. The only made up rumor that I have seen touted here is the Hart for Cain rumor which is blatantly false where there was no research done because if any research would have been done it would have been clear to see that the rumor was blatantly false and never even existed in the first place. For example the only real rumor on the internet or anywhere was Hart for Sanchez which is very blah yuck disgusting etc. I'm sorry but Niemann would not have been a good trade for the Brewers. I am not sure why you and others are fascinated with him he is not all that great he is a #3 pitcher at best and probably better suited as a #4 or #5 pitcher. Now for Jackson yes that would have been a good trade but I do not see why the Rays would have been interested in Laporta at that time for Jackson as Laporta wasn't ready yet and the Rays were looking for someone more advanced than Laporta. To me Laporta was a very questionable prospect and Melvin actually got the best talent from trading Laporta. To be honest Laporta was nothing special as he had a lot of holes in his swing and he still does to today. As for your Teixeira type trade comment name one other GM that has made a trade like that. If you are expecting a GM to make a Teixeira like trade you are only setting yourself up for disappointment those trades are rare. The only way Melvin would have been able to do that would have been trading Prince after his second year with the Brewers or trading Braun now or in the next two years. To be honest the Brewers haven't had a good minor league system to trade for the type of players you want Melvin to be trading for in a long time. In order for that type of a trade to be done it would have had to of happened when Hardy, Weeks, Hart, and Fielder were in the minors. The only trade that probably should have happened was the Fielder for Cain trade. That is the only trade that should have happened but I highly doubt Mark A would have signed off on that trade.
  21. I don't believe Lucroy was in the discussion it was Brantley versus Green. For the Indians it was lucky that they selected Brantley over Green as Green looks to be at best a platoon or utility player in the majors though Brantley doesn't look to be anything more than your typical 4th or 5th OF as he is not all that great defensively in CF which limits his value as an OF as he just doesn't have the power to be an everyday corner OF. I would definitely take Brantley over Green though.
  22. I was excited about him last year before he injured his knee. Still would like to see him play a full year before I get excited again. That knee injury may mean he has to move out of the catcher position at some point in his career though. The question mark on him then will he be able to hit enough at another position probably 1B, 3B, or a corner OF spot along with the defensive concerns more so at 3B and the corner OF spots.
  23. Wow that was a late strike call by the ump. BA called it before the ump even singled it.
  24. I am not a big Eovaldi fan and I am guessing that the Dodgers are high on him as I haven't seen him in any trade talks. Lee and Gould have been in talks for Carlos Lee or Jed Lowrie from the Astros. I believe the rumored trade for Jed Lowrie was Lee and Gould from the Dodgers and I believe it was just Gould or Lee for Carlos Lee. A player that I really like in the Dodgers organization is Allen Webster. If the Brewers could get Webster and Pederson/Gould it would be a rather good trade for the Brewers.
