  1. I must have missed Haywood and James when I was looking at their team contracts. But a trade that sends Redd and the #10 pick to the Wizards for Haywood, James, and Stevenson and the #5 pick would be interesting. I still don't see it happening but the Wizards offensively would improve with a team of Arenas, Redd, Butler, Jamison, and McGee/Songalia. Not a good defensive team but a team that will put up a lot of points though. The Bucks would be the real winners of the deal though. It gives the Bucks a lot of salary cap relief after next season to either sign someone in free agency or extend someone like Villanueva or Sessions long-term. Another trade that I think is a possibility is sending Alexander to a team in the 18-25 range and take Hansbrough who I think is more polished than Alexander is. They are both about the same player but Alexander has more potential though. If the Wizards stay where they are I believe they will take Jordan Hill.
  2. You just listed the other holes. CF, catcher, a starter and a closer. If you figure in Cameron and Kendall coming back next year that is about $8-12 million right there. If Looper doesn't come back you add in more money to pay for another starter which will be about another $5-10 million depending on free agency. Then you have to take into consideration do the Brewers make Villanueva a closer or do they resign Hoffman or another to be the closer? That is another $4-10 million depending on which way the Brewers go. If it is Villanueva then the Brewers will just promote someone from the minors to take a spot in the bullpen. $15 million would be near the top of what the Brewers should spend on one player next year. That isn't the whole salary for the next season that is about the maximum they should spend on one player for a year.
  3. Actually I am going to have to disagree on this. Any higher than $15 million for next year yes that would be too high for the Brewers to take on considering the other holes the Brewers will have to fill.
  4. Pedro Alvarez of the Pirates should be a good one also.
  5. There is no way the Wizards would be able to bring in a player for a draft pick with their current cap space. I just looked it up to make sure of that. Since most veteran guys have rather high contracts they would have to give up someone with a big contract. Arenas isn't going anywhere that contract is actually worse than Redd's. I'm not even sure Butler would be enough cap space type of a move to allow them to bring in a veteran. For Jefferson or Redd to be added to the Wizards the Wizards would have to trade Butler and Stevenson to even out the money. The Bucks could also do a sign and trade with Villanueva that would send Villanueva and the 10th pick to the Wizards for the 5th pick and another player with an equal or lesser salary. It is a stretch but a lot of other weirder things have happened before.
  6. I believe Lawson will be available for the Bucks to draft at the #10 spot or Flynn could be a possibility. Holiday is the only player the Bucks would have to trade up to get and none of the teams in front of the Kings though would be interested in moving down. But if Rubio drops to the #4 spot I could see the Bucks being able to do a trade with the Wizards and getting Holiday at the #5 spot in the draft by either trading away Jefferson or even Redd and the #10 pick for the #5 pick and Butler. I'm not sure on the money wise if that would work for the Wizards or not but that could be a possibility. Redd or Jefferson on the Wizards would help them with their scoring by getting them another option besides Arenas.
  7. Yes with Open Office you can open up all of the MS Office stuff with it fairly easily. When creating documents you can even save them as a MS word, excel, powerpoint, etc. document.
  8. The best available player. Redd is going to be out the first month or so I believe of the season so the Bucks are going to have to plug someone into that hole. I would take Holiday or Lawson with the 10th pick if either of the two are available.
  9. Did anyone else notice today that they announced Hoffman pitching after Hells Bells?
  10. But it is not for a few months of play. Hardy is under Brewers control through the 2010 season. 2011 is Hardy's free agency year not this coming off season.
  11. I don't believe it is pushing it with Scarpetta being in the bigs in 3 years he should be in AA next year and AAA the following year the third year he should be rather close to being on the major league club. Also 2B and SS will be filled within 3 years SS should be filled next year by Escobar. Even if Escobar isn't the starting SS next year that means the Brewers have signed Hardy to an extension and Escobar is probably traded for some pitching prospects. If Escobar is the starting SS next year Hardy would have been traded for you guessed it pitching prospects. Even if Scarpetta and Braddock are not ready in 3 years which could be a possibility you can still get the starting pitching you need through trading Hardy or Hart. I believe Hart could bring in a #4 or a #5 pitcher. The Brewers have a lot of options they can explore this year and even this next offseason . Yes Webb is going to cost more than Peavy that is obvious with the trade situation the way it is. If Webb is healthy he brings in more than Peavy. I believe the Brewers can afford Peavy both financially and talent wise b/c I believe the Padres have painted themselves into a corner like the Twins did and they are going to have to take the best available package for Peavy. It is going to come down to the Cardinals, Cubs, and Brewers I believe and maybe maybe the Reds. The Reds would be interesting I think since they could offer Bailey who I think the Reds have lost confidence in. Who else would be added into the mix with the Reds I don't know but I believe the Reds are a real dark horse for Peavy.
  12. I really like Parra and I get all the money value and win value stuff but as a fan I would rather have Peavy, Gallardo, Bush, Braddock, Scarpetta or Peavy, Gallardo, Braddock, Scarpetta, Jeffress in three years than Gallardo, Parra, Bush, Braddock, Scarpetta. I believe we would lose Bush if the Brewers get Peavy but I believe Braddock and Scarpetta could easily replace Bush's value to the team. This is assuming the Brewers are able to pull off a Santana type of a trade with the Padres which I feel is very possible. But if the option presented itself and the Brewers had to choose between getting Peavy or Webb I would choose Webb over Peavy in every situation. It really does depend on the trade for Peavy though. If the Brewers are able to pull off a Santana type of a trade where the Brewers send Jeffress, Gillespie, Dillard, and a player to be named later I would be fine with that. If the Brewers have to trade say Scarpetta, Braddock, or Odorizzi along with Jeffress or Parra then I wouldn't go with it that is just to much to give up for Peavy. I believe Webb would cost more than Peavy for the simple fact that Webb will be easier to move for the D'backs than Peavy will be for the Padres.
  13. This looks to be an off season move not one the Brewers would make during the season unless the Brewers have a lot of faith in Escobar offensively.
  14. At best that trade was equal to what the Twins got for trading Santana.
  15. I was thinking Jeffress, Green, Anundsen and Dykstra/Brewer. But in my dreams it was Hart, Jeffress, Annundsen, Dykstra and a player to be named later for Peavy and Giles. I'm not sure if that was a good dream or a nightmare.
  16. In the next 3 years we'll have holes at 1B and RF. CF I am not worried about and 3B can be filled by a couple of players along with catcher. At SS it is going to depend on if the Brewers sign Hardy long term or not. If the Brewers don't it will be Escobar at SS. At 2B you have Lawrie, Green, and Dykstra all who could be studs at 2B or duds you never know really. At C you have Lucroy and Salome I am not worried about C really one of them will be the starting C in 3 years. At CF you have Cain and Schafer an OF of Cain Schafer and Braun while not the greatest OF will be as good as the OF we have now. You could even move Gamel to the OF if need be Green or Lawrie would be at 3B then though. The only position the Brewers will have to fill really is at 1B and that still could be filled by Gamel. In 3 years there are a lot of possibilities. Positional players I feel rather confident in the Brewers having enough to replace players lost in the next 3 years. Starting pitching even if we give up Parra and some positional players for Peavy it still looks good. Braddock, Scarpetta, and Jeffress could be the Brewers future 3-5. If the Brewers have a rotation like this in 3 years Gallardo, Peavy, Braddock, Scarpetta, Jeffress would it be any better or worse than Gallardo, Parra, Braddock, Scarpetta, Jeffress? Assuming it would only be Parra and some positional players for Peavy would either of those three starting pitching rotation be bad? There is a lot of different ways this could unfold. Peavy is the sexy name right now like Sabathia was last year. If Webb becomes available you would have to give up about the same maybe more to get him. Even Holladay would cost as much as Peavy will in talent. The others available for trade are the same pitchers the Brewers already have on the roster. I believe the Brewers will make a move but it will be more like what the Cubs did last year to get Harden than what the Brewers did last year to get Sabathia. I believe the Brewers will get someone who has been either injured or in a down year and has another year or two left on their contract.
  17. The Brewers are not even the top team to be looking at Penny anyways. I believe the Phillies will go after Penny which I believe is a mistake but I believe the Phillies are the front runner in acquiring Penny and not the Brewers.
  18. A more accurate trade would be Counsell or Iribarren for Penny. Penny would have been a good pickup in free agency for the Brewers but not in a trade. Basically when you trade garbage you get garbage in return. There is no way Penny is worth any prospect. If the Brewers are trading Hardy to the Red Sox Lars Anderson and Clay Buchholz are coming back to the Brewers not Brad Penny. Brad Penny right now is worth a D prospect which would be Iribarren. There is no way the Brewers trade any pitching prospect to the Red Sox for Penny that is just not going to happen.
  19. I was thinking about Webb being moved also but it would completely depend on his health. Plus his option for next year is rather inexpensive and I believe the D'backs will hold onto Webb this year and trade him next year if they are out of it next year. It all really depends how healthy Webb will be and if he can pitch this year. That team option for next year is not that big of a deal for Arizona just like Lee's isn't that big of a deal for Cleveland.
  20. Without trading Jefferson away the Bucks are stuck with him until at least the trading deadline. The Bucks will also be losing at least one of Sessions or Villanueva both of them would be a cheaper option than Jefferson would be and would contribute just as much as Jefferson did. It is not about free agents it is about keeping the players the Bucks need at a reasonable price. If the Bucks sign both Villanueva and Sessions expect them to either trade their pick away or pick a foreign player who is not even interested in playing in the NBA right now. I doubt the Bucks are going to go over the cap limit this year so the Bucks are stuck with the decision of signing one of Sessions and Villanueva and a draft pick or both Sessions and Villanueva and no draft pick. Now do you see where I am coming from with talking about Jefferson being traded? It had absolutely nothing to do with free agency and everything to do with signing the correct pieces in Villanueva and Sessions. Sessions and Villanueva > Jefferson.
  21. No. If Gamel is going to be up in the Majors he needs to have some regular playing time. The Brewers can't be wasting Gamel by sitting him on the bench.
  22. I don't believe Redd sucks it is just that Redd is not a number one option and for the amount he is being paid I don't see the value for the Bucks. I still wish the Bucks would have been able to trade Redd away last year and were able to draft Mayo who I believe will be like Redd just a lot better defensively and cheaper. I just don't see Redd leading a team to the playoffs on his own. Redd is a role player who scores and that is about it. When you are the Bucks and you don't have the other pieces and you are paying Redd all that money to lead your team through the playoffs you have to trade him and get what you can for him. The Bucks really need to rebuild the team. I would keep Bogut, Sessions, and the rest of the younger players while trading away Jefferson and Redd. The Bucks really should have traded away Jefferson for an expiring contract. The salary cap space it would have created would have been perfect for the Bucks. I wouldn't mind keeping Redd until the end of his contract with Jefferson out of the picture. Having a team of Sessions, Redd, Villanueva, Bogut, and whoever at the other position wouldn't be a horrible team certainly not one that would win a championship but one that the future would at least look bright with Sessions and Bogut.
  23. Can Kouzmanoff play the OF? I would rather take Giles but Kouzmanoff would be OK also. I wonder how his stats would look after getting out of the NL West. Right now they are not so good.
  24. Sarge posted this in the IGT today. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=2689415 Molina untucked his shirt before getting into the dug out he also forgot some of his equipment. Maybe he should have just stripped down completely to let that ump know who really is in charge during a game!
  25. 4 @ FLA (3-1) 3 @ ATL (1-2) 3 vs COL (2-1) 3 vs CWS (3-0) 3 @ CLE (1-2) 3 @ DET (1-2) 3 vs MIN (1-2) 3 vs SF (3-0) 3 vs NYM (2-1) 17-11 A little optimistic there I believe.
