  1. Charlotte is the only city I can think of that would make sense. Atlanta and New Orleans (a big maybe) are the only other southern cities that could support a MLB team. I don't really believe New Orleans would be a city MLB would be looking at I could see Charlotte but thats the only one I can think of. Las Vegas and Portland are the other cities that could have a MLB team. I could see a Mexico team before those two teams though even though a team from Mexico probably woudln't be able to compete financially with the other MLB teams but then again I doubt there would be a problem of getting fans to come to the games like in Florida and other cities.
  2. Replacing Iribarren with Duffy yes replacing him with Nelson no. Iribarren is the same player as Duffy he just can play more positions than Duffy. With Nelson you at least have some power and more plate discipline. Having Iribarren instead of Nelson wouldn't be a wise decision when we already have someone like Iribarren in Duffy.
  3. Is Manny Parra following the Dave Bush style of pitching? Shaky in the first couple of innings and then finishing strong. It is nice to see Manny calm down and actually trust his stuff and not over pitch. Great start by Manny today.
  4. Nelson really needs every day at bats right now and there is no where in the lineup that he could be getting those plate appearances. I love Nelson I just don't believe he is at that stage of his career where he can come off the bench and get a base hit. Coming off the bench and getting on base is probably one of the most hardest things to do in baseball. I just don't believe Nelson has had enough experience in the majors to be relied upon as a pinch hitter. I would feel more comfortable with Hinske than I would with Nelson. This has nothing to do with Nelson and the way he has been playing. The Brewers really do need another player like Counsel who can come off the bench and be able to get on base. I just don't see that in Nelson, McGehee, or Duffy. Nelson or McGehee would be the odd man out and I don't really want to get rid of Nelson but there comes a time when you have to make a hard decision. You either go with the younger player or the veteran. I would just feel more comfortable with Hinske coming off the bench than Nelson or McGehee.
  5. Yes I have seen more and more of that lately also. I don't mind if people are coming down near the 8th or 9th inning when some people start leaving the game for whatever reason it maybe. I'm about to explode on the people who will not sit down and are either talking on their cell phone or are to drunk that they don't even know where they are. On Saturday there was a Cubs fan and whenever the Cubs would make an out she would stand up and put her arms up and then wouldn't sit down until about two pitches into the next at bat. Please don't stand up when you get a call and say hey I'm at ..... and then keep on standing and waving also please people stop visiting with your friends or family and standing in the aisle this is not the local bar there are other people at the stadium trying to watch the game if you want to visit please do so at Fridays, near the concession stands or with your butts sitting on the seats. On another note there really needs to be a cut down on the amount of alcohol sold to an individual during the game. I don't know the solution to this problem though other than no alcohol inside the park but that really shouldn't be the answer. OK rant over.
  6. I stole this from the Doumit thread and it really deserves its own thread. I don't believe the Pirates would be looking at Nelson unless they are going to trade Adam LaRoche at the deadline for something. Nelson really wouldn't get much playing time with the Pirates and Nelson is out of options so they wouldn't be able to send him to the minors. Onto Hinske though. I believe Hinske is the veteran bat the Brewers should be looking at to acquire. The team really needs someone who can come off the bench and be able to hit. Duffy, McGehee, and Nelson are really not those type of players. Hinske would be more like Kapler was last year for the Brewers. I'm not sure who the Pirates would want in a trade for Hinske. I doubt it would be much though.
  7. Found this on youtube today.
  8. You are describing Dave Bush here almost to a T. Really the comparison of Dave Bush and Ian Kennedy is very accurate. Bush has done well in Milwaukee and he has been showing why he is the teams #3 starter. I really don't see why so many people don't really like Kennedy that much. Yes his stuff isn't all that great but he is a #3 starter at best and he is very comparable to Dave Bush.
  9. I still believe Kennedy is more of a Dave Bush type of a pitcher. What is so bad about an at best #3 guy in the rotation. You can't have an ace at every spot in the rotation. Kennedy will be fine once he leaves the AL East and I believe he would thrive like Bush in the NL. He wouldn't be the greatest starter in the world for the Brewers but he will be someone that will be cheap and affordable for the Brewers. Yes the Yankees hype their prospects all teams hype their prospects. I don't see Kennedy as a #1 or #2 type starter that the hype machine was making everyone believe Kennedy would be. At best Kennedy is a #3 starter I would put him in the rotation over Suppan and McClung right now if the Brewers had him.
  10. anyone get a picture of Braun hitting that HR? The part where he sticks his tongue out is what I am mostly interested in if anyone was able to get it.
  11. Not a zero chance. Rivera played 1B for a game in Boston I believe. I'm sorry my memory may not be spot on with that but I believe Rivera did play 1B at least once last year in an interleague game I'm just not sure if it was at home or in the Boston series. Fielder is going to play DH for at least one game during the interleague games.
  12. Jurassic Park and I second the Star Wars suggestion for movies I would like to see added I wouldn't mind seeing Independence Day also even though I never really liked that movie all that much.
  13. Hopefully Lawrie's defense can keep up with his bat. I could see Lawrie up in AA around June or July and then spending either all of 2010 in AA or the majority of the year in AA. Mid 2010 is the earliest I could see Lawrie in AAA I don't believe his defense will be able to keep up with his bat though and that will hold him back in AA for a little bit. Lawrie should be ready by the time the Brewers would have to make a decision on keeping or trading Weeks though.

They both get a lot of outs through the ground ball which if you have a good infield defense the pitcher will shine. One thing to note with Wang though is that his LD% increased 3.8% while his GB% went down by 3.4%. I know Wang didn't pitch the whole year last year and he could have improved on those lines. Though Wang's FB% stayed within his career norms in 2008. Another thing to look at is Wang's decrease in his GB% each year that is a warning sign when you have a pitcher who relys heavily on the ground ball to get batters out. Relying on last years numbers for Wang isn't a good idea though but I do believe Wang hasn't fully recovered from his injury last year. I don't see Wang returning to his old self untill at least the mid 2010 season. Wang really wouldn't help the Brewers out this year. Capuano has as much of a chance to help out the Brewers this year as Wang would. That is just my opinion though. Wang and Duffy is not even as good as Cameron alone and if you factor in Suppan into the equation it gets even more lopsided. If Duffy was right handed I would sign Edmonds. Edmonds/Duffy and Wang would be better than what you would get out of Cameron in the long run. Also Cameron wouldn't get Wang alone you would have to send something else to the Yankees to get Wang back in return. Wang just came out of his 2nd year of arbitration I believe. The only way I would trade Cameron plus is if we could somehow get Swisher back in the deal along with Wang. Yes I know I'm dreaming and I doubt the Brewers will get a deal done with the Yankees this year if the Brewers are in the race or not for a playoff brith.
  15. 1.5 year old laptop means you probably have a lot of dust, hair, and other garbage built up inside of your laptop causing it to overheat and shutdown. Your laptop is saying, "hey stupid how about you clean me!" kind of like when someone writes wash me on the back of a car when it is all dirty. Condensed can of air should do the trick in cleaning out your PC. If you are not comfortable in opening up your laptop then take it to a PC repair shop and have them clean out the inside for you. It will probably cost you about $50 I'm guessing on that price though. Most laptops can be brought back to life after cleaning out the inside of it.
  16. Don't increase your auto insurance to the $1 million mark leave it as is. Take out a $1 million umbrella which is rather cheap instead. Your rates will increase higher than what the premium for the umbrella will be. The rental car isn't always a waste of money depending on how much it is. If it only raises your premium up $1-5 then it is worth it if it goes above the $5 mark I wouldn't get it. The rental car coverage is great if you get into an accident and you need another vehicle to get to work or to school. If you don't have another vehicle at your disposal you should take the rental car coverage.
  17. It looks like they have fixed some of the problems they were having with their servers. There are still some minor problems with their servers but so far so good.
  18. If Braun has to go on the DL do the Brewers bring up Gamel? Would Gamel play 3B or LF? or would Hall play LF and Gamel at 3B. The other option is to have Nelson play LF and then replace him with Duffy later in the game.
  19. The window was never open. Jayson Stark on Zach Greinke "But in retrospect, every one of those rumors looks bogus now in the rearview mirror -- because as an official of one team says, Royals GM Dayton Moore "never wanted to trade Zack Greinke. We had numerous conversations. And he always gave us the impression he was going to do everything he could to keep him."" Link.
  20. If any of you have ever played Goal Line Blitz before it is like that except baseball instead of football. MMO baseball It is a fun and somewhat free game to play with.
  21. You could use a stop-limit order at a price to protect your gains. Lets say you bought the stock at $1 and it is now trading at $5. You would like to get back at least 3 times what you paid for the stock so you would put a stop order at $3. If the stock goes to $3 or below it will trigger a sell order. This way you protect your gains while still having the luxury to cancel the stop-limit order if the price goes even higher.
  22. No Escobar has a lot of value I just don't see the Brewers trading that value. If the Brewers can not sign Hardy to a long term deal I don't see why the Brewers would trade Escobar.
  23. That is why I said I don't see them taking a deal centered around Escobar. With all the reports pointing towards pitching that is the way I am looking at it from the Padres point of view. The reported Braves-Padres deal had Escobar + a lot of pitching prospects. I don't see A. Escobar with Gillespie and Scarpetta as being something the Padres would be looking for. The Padres would be looking for Jeffress as the starting point with the Brewers. Escobar would probably be in the deal but if it is with Jeffress I don't see the Brewers moving on something like that. It would be one or the other in terms of Escobar and Jeffress and the Padres would take Jeffress 99 times out of 100. I'm not claiming I know what they are thinking just going by what has been presented in the past as known information on Peavy and the Padres. The Padres are looking for pitching prospects which is kind of a no brainer for the Padres. Plus I doubt the Brewers would trade Escobar especially if a deal could not be done with Hardy. Adding Peavy and losing Escobar would be a wash at best for the Brewers. Yes the Brewers receive an Ace like pitcher in their rotation but they lose depth at SS. Remember in order for Peavy to come to Milwaukee the Brewers would have to pick up his option in his final year and give him a full no trade clause. That isn't really smart for the Brewers to do. How I am looking at this is as a pure speculation and nothing more. I am looking at the pieces the Padres have in their minor league system and looking at the Brewers minor league system. Scarpetta wouldn't be enough with Escobar and others the Padres would be looking for more pitching in that deal. I don't see how or why the Padres would want Escobar and Scarpetta as the center pieces in the deal along with the other players in the deal. If anything I believe the Padres would be more interested in Jeffress than Escobar.
