Joe Crede could be a possibility also. I believe this is his last year with the White Sox? I believe he could come rather cheap compared to Blalock. Blalock is younger though and a left handed bat. The best option is if Hardy accepts a move over to 3B. Or if the Brewers could land a AAAA type of a player in a deal that sends Hardy for a young starting pitcher.
Trading Hardy for Cain is overpaying. If you trade Prince for Cain should get you fired as a GM for even thinking that. Anything less than a Lincecum or Kershaw for Fielder wouldn't be acceptable.
The amount of love for the Cubs in here is making me sick. I'm so sick I have a feva and the only cure is a Brewers win. Yes I know that was cheesy but I just can't handle all this Cub loving.
Yes nearly all meaning not everyone but almost everyone. Teams are not going to do it against a hitter who is a slap hitter batting left handed because as you can see with Counsell and Fukudome they don't follow the normal left handed hitter philosophy. To break it down even more this happens more with power hitting lefties more than your average lefty. Adam Dunn gets the shift a lot also. Not all teams do the shift though I know a year ago a team refused to do the shift against Prince and it ended up hurting them a couple of times.
Deja Vu all over again. Remember last year the Padres decided to let Peavey rest instead of starting him against the Brewers on the last day of the season. We all know what happened then.
Hardy's hit chart. Fielder's hit chart Braun's hit chart The answer to your question why Fielder has a shift. That is an easy question to answer it is because he bats left handed. Nearly every single left handed hitter has an infield shift like that. Most of the balls hit by a left handed batter go to the right side of the infield when they hit a ground ball. If you want proof of this look at Berkman, Ortiz, and Howard. They all have the same pattern as Fielder has. Nearly all left handed batters have the same pattern for outs to the right side of the infield and that is why teams shift to the right when playing these hitters. This year Braun has actually improved at hitting to the opposite field but he still doesn't walk as much as Prince does and as you can see Hardy has the majority of his outs to the left side of the infield. The reason I used Miller Park for the stat is because that is where they have played the majority of their games at and thus get more opportunities to show a pattern.
What about Ron Dayne's fumble killing a national title bid when we were ranked #1 or #2 and we then lost to an unranked team and the season then went down hill from there. That has to rank up there in a bad game. I believe this was Dayne's first fumble of the year also.
The design of the Xbox360 case is flawed and is the real reason why the system over heats so much. The inside design of the case for the 360 is one of the worst designs ever for cooling a system down. When you open up the 360 and a PS3 you will notice that the cooler for the 360 is about 1/4 the size of the one in the PS3. The PS3's cooler is about 2 times the size of some decent coolers for a PC. This is all the reason why the PS3 costs so much Sony actually put the time in to the case to make it efficient at cooling the case. Also you can notice that the fans are a better quality than that of the ones in the original 360 and even the newer 360's. The fans on them are still small RPM fans that I wouldn't even use to cool an old PC that has a Pentium in it. I own both the 360 and the PS3 so I'm not really biased each way for either system. It is just that Microsoft dropped the ball on the 360 case design while Sony made a solid design. I don't own a Wii but I'm guessing it is very similar to the Game Cube and not much changed with the Wii and Game Cube design.
1.) Prince Fielder and J.J. Hardy to the Dodgers for James Loney and Clayton Kershaw. 2.) 3 team deal: Jeff Francouer to the Royals, Corey Hart to the Braves, and David DeJesus plus a low prospect to the Brewers from the Braves. 3.) Rickie Weeks to the Tigers for Placido Polanco. 4.) Prince Fielder and Rickie Weeks to the Angels for Ervin Santana and Brandon Wood. Some of these are off the wall and I don't expect them to even come close to being true at all. I wouldn't mind any of the trades if they were done at all. I would really like #1 or #2 to happen. I see #3 as a possibility and #4 as not going to happen ever.
Hmmm so where are we going to find a 35-40 HR guy like Fielder to replace him with? A lot of people forget Fielder is far more advanced than both Hardy and Braun at the plate. Prince has the patience and the understanding of taking what the pitcher gives him compared to Braun and Hardy. Both Hardy and Braun are free swingers and will chase pitches regularly. Fielder is more advanced than both at taking pitches and going with what is given to him. Braun and Hardy not so much. Defensively Fielder is a liability that is a fact. I don't see Fielder being traded in the off season since his market value is lower than that of Hardy's and Escobar's. Not because of production or talent either. Hardy and Escobar are playing positions that are in high demand. I bet a team will blow the Brewers out of the water for Hardy or Escobar. More so for Hardy than Escobar though.
I would rather sign Corey Patterson to a deal than trade Suppan for Pierre. Speaking of Patterson. Did anyone notice that Patterson had 2 good years when he wasn't with Dusty Baker. Notice these are not great years but it was two decent years with the Orioles not great but not bad either. His OBP needs to be higher but I do love those steal numbers. Those are not great either but they are decent. If Patterson could walk a lot more he would be a better player. SEASON TEAM G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 2006 Bal 135 463 75 128 19 5 16 53 21 94 45 9 .276 .314 .443 .757 2007 Bal 132 461 65 124 26 2 8 45 21 65 37 9 .269 .304 .386 .690 His OBP sucks but he should never really be a lead off hitter anyways. He is a #7 or #8 hitter. 2007 was Patterson's best year. Maybe Patterson should rethink about where he wants to play. If I was him I would play anywhere but where Dusty is coaching. Mike Cameron has a higher OBP though. Cameron is about the same OBP wise as Pierre is career wise. Pierre has a career .346 OBP and Cameron has a career .340 OBP.
Prince and Braun being hot at the same time. That is a scary thought. Hopefully Hart, Cameron, and Weeks can at least contribute a little bit this last week. Going to need more than Hardy, Braun, and Fielder to win this.
I just want to see what Rickie can do outside of the lead off spot. Yesterday he looked real good out of the lead off spot. I know Hart has a horrible OBP but other than Weeks who else would be someone you could put in the lead off spot. I believe putting Hart in the lead off spot may spark him offensively and get him out of this funk that he is in right now.
I would just like to see Cameron out of the lead off spot at least for awhile now. He looks lost at the plate right now. I would rather see Hart trying to get bunts down at the lead off spot and have him take some pitches instead of picking on the first pitch each time.
Not like it would have mattered really. The MVP franchise would have become a console only franchise just like Madden and other sports titles have become. If you are looking for a PC Baseball game you are going to be waiting a long time. Basically you either play MVP 05 or nothing on the PC. I doubt EA will make a MVP baseball game again for the PC even if they did acquire 2K games. I still liked the 2K series baseball over the MVP series. The MVP series always felt more arcade like than the 2K series.
Or take him out of the lead off spot at least. I would rather see Hart in the lead off spot right now. At least Hart can't kill a rally with no one on so that is a plus. I wish Dale would switch the lineup here. Lineup should be: 1. Hart 2. Someone 3. Braun 4. Fielder 5. Hardy 6. Weeks 7. Cameron 8. Kendall 9. Pitcher I just wish Kapler wouldn't have gotten injured it would have been nice to see him filling in for Hart.
Detroit is looking to cut payroll after this year and the same with Atlanta they may not even offer anything to Glavine. I don't see Atlanta going after Sheets this off season. I also don't see the Giants signing Sabathia either unless they somehow are able to trade away Zito and his huge contract.
A question that I have about replacing Weeks with Durham is when Weeks is put back into the lineup when facing a lefty or whatever Dale decides to do where do you bat Weeks? Do you keep him in the same spot that Durham is in? Move Hart to the 2nd spot in the lineup and bat Weeks 6th?
What is your over and under on Bill saying Ned Yost as the manager during a game this week. So far this game I have counted three so I'm going to say that Bill will say it at least another 10 times this week.
Was that suppose to be in blue? I hope it was. I believe if the Brewers do not make the playoffs this year the Brewers are going to go after a coach that has or had experienced coaching a major league club. So I'm guessing Mattingly would be out who I wouldn't mind seeing the Brewers go after. The list is short and I think you could see Kremblas as a manager for the Pirates or the Reds next year. For the Brewers if they don't make the playoffs maybe a guy like Black, Brenly, or Valentine are the targets for the Brewers. I don't think Valentine is going to leave Japan though. Brenly could be a huge possibility next year. I just don't see the Brewers going with someone with no experience at the major league level and that is why the Brewers let Kremblas go. He would have been a great manager for the Brewers but I just don't see the Brewers committing to another manager with little to no experience as a major league manager especially with the clock winding down on the time that the Brewers have to compete for a World Series. The young talent isn't going to stay cheap forever and there is no way we will be able to or should even try to keep all of the players. I just hope it is not Ned or Simmons next year managing this team.
