  1. The Milwaukee Bucks? Seriously though I really can't think of another team that has drafted as poorly as the Cubs have. Even the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, and Angels have drafted better than the Cubs. Notice most of those teams are in a large market area. I would have to say that the Cubs are the worst big market team drafting wise.
  2. I believe it is fair to say right now Anthony is not going to be an elite player. He will be a good player but not an elite player. The Nuggets would also will be able to draft a PG at that spot and when Iverson leaves after the season they will still have Redd and a lot of cap space to work with. That is why the deal works also they get Simmons who could re find what he lost. Right now I have this feeling that the Bucks are going to screw something up and draft someone they shouldn't like another Yi.
  3. To be fair Counsell has been doing well above what anyone would think he could do at the leadoff spot so far. He has been getting on base nearly every game since he was put in the leadoff spot which has been really nice I doubt that this success will continue but it has been nice to have Counsell on the team.
  4. You do know the saying Damned if you do and damned if you don't. Right? That is exactly what I was referencing with that. I thought it was extremely obvious to see that in the post. I guess I need to be more clear.
  5. The Cubs organization has been doing this for a long time. The Cubs actually scalp their own tickets and sell them to make a profit. This is also not something that MLB can control and it is not used for revenue sharing either. It is a smart move by the Cubs actually since they are getting more money. I forget where the ticket booth is but it is off of the area where Wrigley is but the Cubs organization does sell its tickets at a higher price to the public.
  6. And if Yost doesn't go with Hall in that situation you have all the Yost haters out there screaming for him to be fired because he let Branyan hit and not Hall. Yost made the correct decision and going with Hall and not anyone else. Hall hits lefties better than Branyan and it was a good call by Yost to have Hall bat for him. The reason behind this are the stats just look them up you will see Hall has better stats against lefties than Branyan does.
  7. Because Hall is one of the better bats that was on the bench against a left handed pitcher. The outcome was the same that would more than likely have happened if Ned would have just let Branyan bat there. More than likely Branyan K's in that AB.
  8. Oh please no. I don't wanna hear the Cubs fans talking about how they could have won it if they were healthy. I would rather have them lose the division, in the playoffs, or the World Series healthy than them losing it unhealthy.
  9. You are voting on the player not the team so OBP to me doesn't really make sense to me to decide a vote for a player in the All Star game since you are not voting on the team but the player. OBP helps the team out more and you are counting on your teammates to hit you in compared to HR's which is more of a player stat than a team stat. To me anything that is a team stat shouldn't be looked at when determining an all star player since it is about the player and not the team really.
  10. Yuck Mason starting at SF. He is to small to play SF but yet he is to slow to play SG. I like Mason off of the bench but when he starts he isn't that great he is a good off the bench role player though. I also don't see the Heat trading Wade ever. Plus I'm not to confident Wade can come back to form where he was before the injury. I'm not sold on Sessions being a good PG either. I believe he will be a key player off the Bucks bench next year though. I still think a Redd and Simmons to the Nuggets for Martin and Anthony would be a good trade for both teams. With the Bucks trading a future #1 pick to the Nuggets. I'm not sure you would have to have the future #1 pick but it would sweeten the deal more.
  11. Well the Indians just signed Morgan Ensberg.
  12. The Giants and the Padres are what everyone thought they were old and not enough talent to win. Plus having Peavy and Young go down for the Padres was a killer blow for them especially when they rely on their pitching and defense to win games for them their offense is not that great either which is why they have been struggling. The Giants are in rebuild mode and I don't think anyone really gave them any kind of chance to be competitive. The Dodgers are underachieving right now Brad Penny and others on the team are not playing like they should be. The Diamondbacks are coming back down to Earth after that hot start. I still think that the Diamondbacks are the team to beat in the NL West and in the NL.
  13. Wolf would be a better pick up than Maddux or you could possibly get both in a trade. What about this for Maddux and Wolf. Brewers send: Gwynn, Bush, Gillespie, and Crabbe Padres send: Maddux, Wolf, and a player to be named later I'm not sure I would send Gillespie over to the Padres but if we could get both Maddux and Wolf it would be a nice rotation of Sheets, Suppan, Maddux, Wolf, Parra/McClung/Villanueva. It wouldn't be the best rotation in baseball but it would be better than what we have right now though. Plus we really wouldn't be losing much in terms of prospects. The Padres would like to have Gwynn and get Crabbe back. Gillespie doesn't look like a CF to me and we already have a lot of corner OF that would be blocking him.

  16. You are in the minority though a rather small minority of fans that vote based on how well a player is playing. 25% will just look at HR, RBI, and Average to determine who they should vote for. 60% will just vote for their teams players. 10% will vote for a popular player. 5% will vote on players deserving to be in the game based on OBP and other stats. Just a rough estimation but it is probably more than likely true to what it would boil down to.
  17. When you take a taxi make sure to tell the person driving the cab to not take the freeway if at all possible. It will get expensive real fast if you take the freeway. I also agree that the Mirage has the best buffet of any of the casinos on the strip. I don't know how young you are or what kind of music you like but the Mirage's night club is one of the best and the one at Ceasar's is also nice. Margaritaville is also a nice bar I believe it is on the strip I believe it is near the Mirage I can't remember right now.
  18. Is this the one everyone is talking about that they hate? I can't stand this commercial it drives me crazy.
  19. Braun was moving out of 3B at the end of the year anyways. The sign that Braun was moving to the OF was the team not picking up Jenkins contract. If the Brewers really thought Braun could play at 3B they would have kept him there and kept Jenkins also. The Cameron signing might have happened anyways depending on how comfortable the Brewers brass was with Hall playing CF again.
  20. With Wang going down I think Melvin should explore a trade with the Yankees and try and see if he can get Hughes, Melancon/Cox, and a low level prospect. I think we could get both Melancon and Cox in a deal but I'm not sure about that. I have said that we could probably get Hughes and Kennedy but every time I see Kennedy pitch I see a lot of Dave Bush in him. Kennedy maybe better than Bush right now but I don't think he will be any better than Bush in the future.
  21. Chien-Ming Wang of the Yankees will be out for 6 weeks and in the MLB article it says he would need a couple more weeks to get his arm ready for pitching again which would put him returning around August or September. Does this mean that the Yankees are now done for this season? Or do the Yankees make a big trade for a guy like Sheets or Sabathia? MLB Link NY Times Link
  22. Yuck I hate the NFL's replay system. But I do love the NCAA's football replay system. It takes it away from the coaches and gives it to the guys upstairs who can see if there needs to be a challenge or not. You would see managers using this to get a bullpen guy some more time to warm up or stall a pitcher/batter. Not really something I want to give to a manager I would rather have an official upstairs do this like in college football.
  23. The human element isn't going anywhere with instant replay. A human still has to view the instant replay and the call sometimes is wrong when someone looks at the instant replay. Also with the instant replay that is being suggested the majority of the plays that will be called will still be under human control. Balls/Strikes and Safe/Out plays will still be called by a human umpire and will not be determined through instant replay. The human element in baseball with instant replay will not be going anywhere it will still be there. I don't get this argument at all since the human element of messing something up will still be there. I just don't think umpires should be the ones making the calls when they are 200+ ft away from a ball that they could easily miss read the play. Plus the umpires already gather around in a group during a game to determine if it is fair/foul or if it was a home run or not. The instant replay wouldn't take up any more time than what they already do.
  24. This will still happen since you will still have the plays where the umps can blow the call at any of the bases and the strikes and balls will still be human determined.
