  1. You would have to have a defensive QB and there just isn’t a player on the team who is that. No the coaches wouldn’t be able to audible either.
  2. Should have been OPI but a good no call.
  3. Managers in baseball are overrated. They have an impact but not as much as fans think they do. Impact of a good manager is probably a +/- 3 games at best.
  4. Shocked?
  5. I was told the Badgers were going to be blown out? Where are those posters now?
  6. That was fortunate especially after that poor play calling and bad passes.
  7. I am not sure Boeve is a player you want to skip AAA with. I mean it is possible if he shows up in ST and forces the Brewers hands but I think there would be a lot of growing pains with Boeve. I wouldn't give Bregman a long term deal. I don't believe he would be worth it. Let someone like the Cubs sign him. I think Suarez from the Dbacks will become available as I think they will try and resign Walker who would cost annually about the same as Suarez somewhere around $13mm a season. Suarez has a $15mm team option which the Dbacks will trigger. I think Suarez gets traded and Lawlar starts the season out as their everyday 3B. What would it take to get Suarez from the Dbacks? I am not sure he has a $15mm option for 2025 but is a FA after. So that is just one years worth of value so I don't think he would cost a top 50 prospect but maybe a teams 10-15 ranked prospect like Burke, Bitonti or Lara types and then a lottery ticket. I don't think the Brewers would pay that and instead just go with someone internal.
  8. I am not surprised by Wilken. I still believe the Brewers want him to get more PA's to finish out the year. I am more surprised by Baez. I am a bit disappointed Baez got the call and not Pratt but that is more along the lines I would rather see Pratt play in person as I am only like 15 minutes away from the Peoria sports complex.
  9. Well they tried the top prospect route with Gilbert Lara and it didn't work out. When you are signing 16 year old's it is nearly impossible to project what they will become. They could have all of the power and all of the tools you are looking for but it is extremely hard to figure out how they will develop or not. Lara in 2014 was the #4 ranked international free agent and the Brewers spent $3,097,500 on him that year. I would rather spread that money out and try and get as many as the Brewers can get. The Yankees in 2014 signed 10 of the top 30 and 0 have reached MLB. Ronald Acuna Jr. signed for $100k that year and the Yankees spent about $34mm that year including penalties. The only two players the Yankees signed that year that I know of are Estevan Florial and Miguel Yajure. So even getting 10 of the top 30 will not guarantee anything. It looks good until you look like the 2014 Yankees international FA signings.
  10. Honestly probably both. The chase the play is something that is hard to coach against. This is especially true for more athletic players. It tends to take them longer to realize they can’t cover up their mistakes by their physical abilities alone. Coaching wise I think Tressel is fine. He just doesn’t have the linemen to do what he wants. The Badgers have the LB’s they want and the CB’s they want but they are missing the linemen.
  11. I think that was more of a poor seal by the outside defender. The play was going to the left but on the backside of the play there was no seal. So when the RB cut back there was a huge hole. You can see the outside player notice this but far too late. They were already engaged with the blocker and left their assignment. The safeties also over committed to the left side and left no coverage in the right hand side. If they did a play action off of this it would have been an easy TD to the receiver on the right. There was no high coverage to the right. All of the defenders were on the left side except for two defenders. This was more of a chase the play instead of reacting to the play.
  12. Brett Favre has Parkinson’s
  13. Yes I know. It is mostly an emotionally thing where I get disappointed. The rankings have actually caught up with this where teams are going after more positional players than pitching.
  14. The Brewers probably will get the early game though playing the Mets may boost them up to game two. The late game will definitely be the Padres. MLB early schedule has the Brewers as wild card A game for the NL.
  15. The White Sox sucked so bad they couldn’t even beat themselves!
  16. I get the go after positional players over the pitchers but I am always disappointed when I don’t see a top 50 pitching in the signings. 16 year olds are extremely hard to project out and there is far more risk. So I completely understand the go after positional players over the pitching due to the risk involved. I just wish emotionally that they would go after a top pitching prospect internationally.
  17. Vaughn or Sheets would be a replacement for Bauers. For Robert he would be the primary DH or fill in at LF for Yelich whenever needed. But I think the prospect cost will be more than what the Brewers will be willing to pay. I would only trade Hoskins for a salary dump. I wouldn’t include a prospect going back. Hoskins doesn’t really make much sense for the Mariners anyways.
  18. Not sure what they will be able to do in FA as they have Candelario who is dead weight at this point at $15mm per year for the next two years. They would have to eat nearly all of that contract get rid of Candelario. There is not much that they could do in FA that will be an improvement other than signing Soto but that is not happening.
  19. I was thinking maybe trade with the Mariners but there really isn't anyone to trade for there who would be a reasonable trade target. Woo and Rodriguez would take a Chourio like package to get them. The White Sox will have Gavin Sheets (Arb1) and Andrew Vaughn (Arb2) heading into arbitration in 2025. Vaughn should be around $5mm in arb2 and Sheets about $2-3mm in Arb1. I don't think either would take much to get the White Sox to trade them. The other option with the White Sox is to trade for Robert and have him as the DH or LF. The White Sox are going to want a ton for Robert so I don't think that is a possibility for the Brewers. I don't believe money is the problem for the Brewers it is giving up the prospects to get players that will be the problem.
  20. I am not sure a different manager is going to do all that much for the Reds. EDLC is not a SS IMHO and should be moved to the OF. India is not an IF and should be moved to the OF. India being a poor defensive IF is the reason why the Reds have been having a hard time finding a trade partner as the other teams see India as an OF/DH type which brings his value down and the Reds want the trade value as though he is a IF. To be honest they probably need to get rid of their GM or move on from some of their players like India and get what they can in return. They need an OF badly. They could have fixed that this year by moving EDLC to the OF. EDLC would be better defensively in CF or RF than he is at SS.
  21. At the low end Mitchell is Brandon Nimmo and on the high end he is Grady Sizemore for potential. I am not sure he ever gets to his full potential so a little bit better than Nimmo is probably where Mitchell ends up.
  22. Not really. He looked the same as he was in Chicago. He is still not all that accurate as a passer and once he starts seeing more pressure he will make the same mistakes he has made his whole career so far.
  23. A theory and not a serious one but they are opening up a spot for Woodruff to pitch in the playoffs!!!!!!!!
  24. MLB is never going back to the 3 division and 1 WC format. It is just not happening. If anything they will add more playoff spots which is the plan once the league expands.
  25. Braves and the Padres are the two teams that I wouldn't want to face right now. The Braves are looking like they are getting healthy again. I don't really want to see that team in the playoffs. The Padres are just as good as the Phillies and the Dodgers and in some ways better than them and a far worse match up for the Brewers. I would rather play the Phillies or Dodgers than the Padres.
