  2. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/07/rosenthal-on-.html "The Brewers' Yovani Gallardo and Kyle Lohse wouldn't figure to be in high demand, but their respective contracts make them attractive to contending clubs. The upcoming free agent market will be thin in starters and guys like Garza, Josh Johnson, and Ricky Nolasco will want at least three or four years. Gallardo and Lohse are under club control for two more years at below market salary - Lohse makes $11MM in 2014 and 2015 while Gallardo makes $11.25MM with a $13MM club option for 2015."
  3. The best part of the Nolasco deal is that it takes one of the only remaining starters off the market. Gallardo and Garza are the top 2 available starters now, and there are a lot more than 2 teams that need starters. Him going to the Dodgers isn't a bad thing either since the D'Backs, Padres, and Rockies are all possible or rumored suitors for Gallardo.
  4. That sounds like the best thing ever. I'm jealous.
  5. http://mlb.mlblogs.com/2013/07/04/d-backs-no-interest-in-moving-skaggs/ Apparently the D'Backs have no interest in trading Skaggs.
  6. Just make sure to get Skaggs, and everything else is gravy. It would be awesome to get Davidson too though. I'd really try to get him in this deal. Skaggs and Davidson would be absolutely incredible.
  7. San Francisco is the best fit in my opinion. Need an OF and a leadoff hitter with Pagan hurt.
  8. Axford and K-Rod are getting traded. Ax will go strictly due to the amount of money he'd make next year. Henderson will be a lot cheaper option as a closer.
  9. I'm just glad Halton is up, because I'm sick of seeing Yuni play so much. I was also sick of the stupid platoon at 2B, so this works both ways. Now if Yuni gets released we'd really be getting somewhere.
  10. The Yankees now lost Teixeira for the year too. They're gonna be desperate for bats. I would think they'd have interest in Ramirez even though he's still a bit injured. Desperation from a team is what the Brewers need.
  11. Excited to see what this kid has. At least this is something to look forward to for a change.
  12. Best case is that they'll be careful enough with him until the AS break, and then the 4 days off will get him close to 100%. Then hopefully he comes out raking for the 2 weeks before the deadline.

He definitely won't be back after the all-star break. The people that speculated he may miss the whole season could very well be right.
  14. Here's a full article on the subject. Melvin seems to be firmly in control. It'll be interesting to see what happens. http://www.sportingnews.com/mlb/story/2013-06-24/mlb-trade-rumors-july-31-deadline-yovani-gallardo-jesse-crain-oliver-perez
  15. Anthony Witrado ‏@WitradoSN 2h More Melvin: "It's not a slam dunk that I'm going to trade Yovani or Kyle Lohse, but you never know. A lot have to consider (about future)." Anthony Witrado ‏@WitradoSN 2h Brewers GM Doug Melvin on Yovani Gallardo: "The (trade) package from another team has to be something that will wow me." This is good news to me. Melvin always downplays things when he's out there shopping players. I think he's shopping both Gallardo and Lohse. It's encouraging that a rebuild seems like a possibility. Melvin has lots of leverage here, because he can always wait to trade either guy. Obviously their value is higher now though, which is why he'll explore it if a good offer is out there.

  17. Narveson was taken off the 40-man simply because they didn't want to add him to the big league roster. He has no options left, so outrighting him was necessary. Likely nothing more to it than that. They weren't just out trying to create space on the 40-man.
  18. No one in this draft has star potential written all over them. Much less a guy like Franklin.
  19. This is really a non-issue. They saw no point in calling someone up for one start. Estrada will be back to take this spot the next time through the rotation.
  20. I think 2 of the 3 get traded, but I'd definitely be willing to deal all 3. They should all be shopped. If there's a really reliever-needy team, they could definitely be packaged together. I definitely agree with that.
  21. Frankly, if the Brewers are looking to deal Axford and K-Rod and keep Henderson, then one of those two should be closing. K-Rod has a bigger track record, so I'd probably be getting Ax saves to boost his value. I could actually see Henderson get traded. He could probably bring back a lot more just based on salary and controllable years. I don't see him being a long-term answer as closer anyway, and I doubt the Brewers do either.
  22. Agreed. That article is pretty far off base as far as prospects go. It's pretty much impossible to predict trades though. Especially when prospects are involved. A better way to go about an article like that would be to key on which teams would be interested in which players, and then highlighting some of those teams top prospects. Just a way to look at some players the Brewers could potentially have a shot at.
  23. We could get some higher level pitching prospects, but not at the level of Gausman. That's just never gonna happen.
