  1. Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale The #Cubs, who thought they had a deal with Sanchez, are still waiting. The #Tigers are indeed being given last chance to match.
  2. Well, Garza and Sanchez at the top of the rotation is better than what the Brewers currently have.
  3. Sounds like Cubs are signing Sanchez. Game on. Lol. But seriously, their rotation will actually be decent now. A combo of Sanchez and Garza at the top is better than what we currently have.
  4. Yeah, I wouldn't count out anything quite yet. Still not optimistic though. We'll see how it plays out. I could see a trade happening. Not sure if that would involve dealing Hart or prospects though. If it's prospects that would scare me.
  5. Except of course for last year, when we eventually went with a rotation of all young guys and competed. Last time I checked that wasn't for a full season. And we also had Marcum for part of that run. I'm talking about a full 6 months with a young rotation. It's highly unlikely. Not impossible, but not likely. You can bring up the A's from last year, but they also had a bullpen that performed. Right now our bullpen is looking weak too. That's also just one example. I'm sure they can all pitch to the level of a solid 4 or 5 starter, but I'm skeptical about them all holding up for a full season and pitching well enough to keep us competitive. The Cardinals and Reds are both better right now within the division alone.
  6. If we're going with a rotation of all young guys, we need to aggressively start shopping Hart and possibly others as well. Because we'll have no chance to compete.
  7. Honestly, I agree. I think we could get Marcum on a 1-year deal most likely too. Maybe 2 if necessary, but I don't see how he's that bad of an option at this point.
  8. I agree. I'd probably give him a 3 year deal, but only if it's at a lower AAV. I'd prefer to not give him $13-14M. I think he could be a solid #2 though. Would likely go with Fiers and Rogers in the rotation and start Peralta out at AAA then. Narveson could be long man in the pen.
  9. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/boston-red-sox-free-agent-right-handed-pitcher-ryan-dempster-hot-stove-121212 Sounds like the Red Sox are serious about Dempster. Deal could get done.
  10. Choo in CF is gonna be hilarious. Although the Reds lineup is incredibly good now from top to bottom.
  11. Here's the one my friend made. I think it's pretty cool. http://i47.tinypic.com/zwf5s8.jpg
  12. Idk, I'm a big fan of Ziggler. I think he and Cena will have a great match. Big Show and Sheamus is kind of played out. I'm looking forward to seeing The Shield. Don't really care about the US Title match, but the IC Title one with Barrett and Kofi could be good. There's also a Tables match with Sin Cara and Mysterio vs. Sandow and Rhodes, so that could actually be interesting. Not the best PPV, but not the worst either. I think there will be some good matches.
  13. Can't see it... Sorry, should be fixed now. Showed up for me.
  14. Here's mine. What's everyone think? http://i49.tinypic.com/19ulnk.png
  15. There's no way we can sign both. Don't have the money. That's not even worth a discussion. I'd rather have Jackson, but I'd take Dempster if it's for no more than 2 years.
  16. Such a terrible trade for the Royals. I'd be so pissed if I was a Royals fan. Rays make out like bandits. That kind of package should've brought back Price at minimum. The Rays will be a force to be reckoned with for quite a few years now.
  17. I'm confused why everyone keeps saying this? Is the logic that the money they would have used on Greinke they are going to give to Hamilton? Yes. It was widely speculated that it was one or the other for the Rangers. Now Greinke's gone, so it's Hamilton.
  18. I'm sure Dodger fans are relishing the fact that they took him from the Angels, who gave up 3 of their best prospects for him. Gotta make this deal that much sweeter for them. And for us too.
  19. Which is why I prefer Jackson. I don't see how 2 years is that big of a risk though honestly. I wouldn't go 3. I don't think he should be completely pushed aside.
  20. It's also funny that Greinke is getting this boatload of cash to be a #2 starter behind Kershaw. Imagine what someone like Verlander or Hernandez would get on the open market right now. The Dodgers also apparently haven't ruled out also signing Anibal Sanchez, which would be absolutely ridiculous.
  21. Well, things can sure change in a day. The best part of this news is that Hamilton will now likely return to Texas, so those rumors can end. Also, the Dodgers payroll is now close to $225 million.
  22. Sounds like Greinke is close to a deal with the Dodgers. That likely means Hamilton back to the Rangers, which makes me a happy man.
  23. Apparently he's close to a 6 year, $145 million deal with the Dodgers. Crazy. Highest paid RHP of all-time.
  24. This has been known for awhile now. I doubt Melvin will budge on not going over 2 years, especially for an older player like Dempster. However, if the 3 year offers never come, I think Milwaukee has the upper hand for the same reasons Ramirez ended up here. I'd probably prefer Edwin Jackson at around the same price, just because he carries less risk.
  25. Don't get me wrong, I'd definitely prefer Jackson at this point if he can be had at a reasonable price and length deal. I just think Dempster will prefer being in Milwaukee for much of the same reasons Ramirez signed here. I think that will prevail in the end if all the offers are similar, and he doesn't get 3 years from anyone. Not sure how signing Dempster would end up turning out. It's definitely risky, but if it's 2 years at a decent price it's not that bad.
