  1. Football has become nothing other than a barrier between the end of the Brewers and picking my SSH rewards/games.
  2. I've been at that point for a couple months now. It doesn't work. You always come back.
  3. The thing is that 86 wins is a hot streak for Philly, NY, and the Brewers. That finish would require their winning % to be 7% better than they've been all year. And all three of them won't do it, probably one will, maybe two. Even the Cubs would have to finish the final 32 at a slightly better clip to hit 86, but they would be the favorite to do it since the margin is smaller. It's a mediocre field, with the former three teams hovering 4-7 games over .500 for months now. I can't see one of them suddenly jumping to almost 20 over.
  4. They play each other a lot though. We play the Cubs a lot. We play the Cardinals a lot. Seven of the Cubs/Cards last 10 are against each other. The Cubs play the Mets. The Phillies have two series with the Mets and play the Braves seven times. The Cubs, in the lead, are right about on an 86-win pace. So the teams below them would be playing pretty well to hit 86. I think 86 will do it this year. 87 maybe, but I think that'll be the line.
  5. 32 games left so no outcome is really needed yet. While last year's run isn't going to happen again, they were 6 games out of 1st on August 28 and entered Sept. 2 in third place. It FEELS like they need to win 2/3, but the reality is this thing is close enough that one random 6-7 game streak in Sept. could really catapult them into the playoffs. My guess is they need to finish 19-13 to be WC2. That would be 86-76.
  6. It's because of the versatility of a draft pick. If you trade for Tony Gonzalez he is a tight end. A draft pick, if hit, fills any need. So if you just get lazy giving award 3rd round picks, that is a fairly high pick that could fill any hole, a position high enough that good players routinely come from, whom you're paying relative peanuts for at least 3 years.
  7. That is fine and I couldn't care less about him coming back. I am just not buying it. He wouldn't slam the door shut, Irsay wouldn't slam the door shut. Both Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson would have kept playing if they could have gotten Detroit to let them go. Luck won't have that issue if he decides to give it another go. Maybe he is really done. He may be exhausted now, but he won't be in 2 years. He will feel fresh, and he won't be 38, he'll be 31-32. His intelligence isn't relevant to me. I am skeptical that level of competitor with that level of talent won't get the itch after some time off and time to recuperate.
  8. Nothing really surprises me anymore due to how teams treasure draft picks. There are bona fide studs who get dealt for thirds. Just in Green Bay alone we've seen Daniels and Sitton unable to be traded.
  9. It isn't far fetched at all. I don't buy that he's done. He is 29. 18 months off and his body will feel good. I do not believe he won't get the itch before turning 35. It's happened before, but I'm skeptical here. It would be SUCH a Patriot thing.
  10. Yeah, that Schoop deal was widely hated the second it was made.
  11. Belichick will talk him out of retirement in 2-3 years and they'll enjoy sticking it to the Colts once again.
  12. Awful, underperforming players who are roster bubbles don't usually fetch 6th round picks. I will also be genuinely surprised if Kizer makes the team. Zero accomplishments and zero performance thus far with GB, or Cleveland for that matter. He has to do something in the last game. I'd bet good money he's released if he doesn't.
  13. Took 2/3. They will need 4-5 straight soon, but not the end of the world.
  14. I feel like you were watching entirely different replays than I was. I didn't see a single angle that wasn't blocked in a way that it was impossible to see when he was tagged in relation to when he touched the base. I think it was close enough that you could say the tie goes to the runner but I would really like to see the replay you saw, because the ones I saw showed basically nothing, other than the fact it was basically a tie at the bag. I'm at the game, so maybe. I'm really not a home cooking fan, but the replay on the board was CLEAR that he was safe.
  15. It was close live. On the video he was indisputably safe. So "not close" that I really can't comprehend how they stuck with it. Not bang bang at all and I've seen many others on replay I'd consider toss ups. That was no toss up.
  16. I just do not understand how that's called out after challenge. Is it some kind of respect the umps thing? That was not even close on video.
  17. Again, replay is pointless if we're letting blatant incorrect calls stand.
  18. If I'm being honest the unis remind me of theater actors playing sperm in a sex ed video we had to watch in 7th grade.
  19. This has been re-hashed here already, but while it doesn't matter who the QB is if Rodgers breaks his collarbone, it does matter if he sprains his ankle or has a concussion and someone can give you a shot to cover 1-3 games. Does anyone think Kizer is that guy? Does anyone think Kizer is that guy if Boyle is the only other option? I don't see a place for him on the team. He knows the playbook I guess. But I can keep six QBs and if they all stink it doesn't solve my problem. Brock Osweiller and Matt Cassel are FAs. Are they stiffs? Yeah, maybe. But if Rodgers goes down and this team is any good as advertised defensively and running the ball, those are guys that can move the chains. No clue what $$ the Packers are working with for a one-year deal or what those guys would want. But I would all for signing them if it is possible. Rodgers has been hurt enough in his career (many forget he essentially missed 2 games the year they won the Super Bowl) that it's astonishes me they never have a lick of depth at the position. I totally understand that you can't commit capital to a backup when you have to pay the starter that much, but I can't believe those guys are THAT out of budget. Kizer is making over a million, they really can't afford an extra $2-3m to possibly avoid the disaster they've already seen unfold numerous times? I don't get it.
  20. 12 of the next 15 are at home. 7 of the next 15 are against the Cubs. Then a 4-game set with Miami and 3 more with STL. If this thing is going to turn it pretty much has to start happening now.
  21. When were the Packers bitten by keeping two? I'm genuinely asking. It felt like they kept 2 most of the McCarthy era. Taysom Hill? I think a bit much has been made of that/him. He's kind of just a glorified gimmick and I don't think he would have done much for GB. I would rather keep 7 wideouts than Kizer. If they're dead set on keeping 3 QBs take a flyer on someone else. This guy doesn't deserve a job just because we decide to keep 3 QBs. Whatever "it" is he doesn't have it.
  22. Does anyone still think Kizer is making this team?
  23. I remember having this same problem a few years ago when someone gave me one but I don't live that far away. At this point I'd rather save them for another season. Then just use them at a window when you're already there for a game. Or I'd just get gear. I know the gear is "overpriced," but I've always thought the quality and selection is better than anything you get elsewhere.
  24. This is almost too good
