  1. What a difference a week makes. This is why I'm getting worried. Not because it's 6-0 in an April game, but because we have 3 starters with almost no experience and I expect this kind of bipolar performance to happen often.
  2. 0-49 after last night, new MLB record. Despite the fact that he has a huge contract and more money than I will ever see, I just can't help feeling bad for him. Sending positive vibes Chris!! Brewers should offer something for him and agree to take on $2 million per year. We can hope a change of scenery has some miracle effect while having a contest for worst 1B ever.
  3. There is an article from a day or two ago that goes into the deep analytics and makes the case for both, and from a strictly statistical standpoint Harden wins an it's not all that close. He wins a lot more categories when you stack them head to head. I think the writer ends up coming around to saying Giannis should still win. But this hands down it's Giannis thing is where I simply won't agree. And still won't if he ends up winning 3-1. The guys voting for Harden are right to do so if that's what they believe. It is not like voting for Paul George.
  4. Some teams are playing Saturday and I don't know that we have anything else yet
  5. That's such a cop out. Yes they have to get clicks, but that has not stopped the MVP pick from being super obvious in the past. I think it's a lot more likely given the offensive production he's put up and that the players voted on Harden, that a lot of people think Harden is the MVP. I really doubt that other than Skip Bayless and Colin Cowherd, guys are out there pretending Harden should be MVP to get clicks. I get a little nauseated by the constant WI fan media hates us stuff. It is made in to being such a larger factor than it is.
  6. They did, 44-39%, but overwhelmingly picked Giannis for "team to build a franchise around," no doubt partially due to age as I don't think Harden was even 2nd place there, but I think it circles back to what MVP is, which has always been fairly ambiguous. I won't be surprised if Harden wins but I will be fairly surprised if Giannis wins 75/25.
  7. Ugh, do we have to do the media conspiracy thing with everything?
  8. I don't get the Hiura thing. I hope he makes me look like an utter fool. But this is a player who is still very clearly developing to me. Which the team has said. He is putting up decent, but not other galaxy numbers at AAA, and I just don't see him as a guy that will come up and start tearing the cover off the ball. An .800 OPS at 2B would be excellent, IF he does that, but the reverence for him would lead one to believe we have Mike Trout down there or something. I know there would be some shuffling around if he became a starter this year, but Moustaskas at 2B is a vastly better option right now and it's not close. I understand there are whispers of Aguilar being the odd man out and opening 2B. But right now, I don't see a really urgent reason for Hiura to be in Milwaukee where he won't be playing every day, which by all account he needs to be doing.
  9. K, then we definitely disagree there. The consensus I've read almost universally is that this is the rare year where they are truly 2 deserving guys. I think your sentence about "hardly been less question marks" is way off the mark. I for one won't be the least bit surprised if Harden actually wins nor will I view it as a great injustice. If I had a vote it would be for Giannis, but Harden has been such a prolific scorer I respect any voter that picks him.
  10. Shaq or Duncan could not carry a team to the finals the way AI did, Eastern conference or not. Both had a lot of help moving an offense along. They're HOF players, but they don't really create the same kind of scoring opportunities. Kobe probably, but this is going a little bit off the rails. AI and Harden have high volume because they need to to win in their environments. I doubt that Philly team could win 50 games without Iverson taking 40 shots. The talent just wasn't there. I don't know why you're trying to convince me Giannis is the MVP though. I've said about 10 times now that I think he is. I think you can make that case without the same old arguments about volume and "what ifs". He is a more well rounded player that alters the game completely on both ends. The reality is Harden is amazing on that team and if he does win MVP he's earned it for being a remarkable scorer. The narrative here is going to be small market railroading etc., and I just think it's weak.
  11. I'm honestly not sure I've ever ordered via phone so I don't know. I do know, that as of 2017, they did not charge at the box. I've been SSH since then and they do waive the fees even if I just shoot an email and say "I need xyz for this game"
  12. OK, but they do need it, and he's really good at it. I'm sure you could have put Iverson on teams where he would have made them worse, but the reality is maybe 1, 2 or 3 guys in the NBA could have taken that Sixers roster to the NBA Finals. Using hypothetical scenarios for why a guy shouldn't win MVP doesn't hold a lot of water imo.
  13. I believe they do waive them at box though
  14. This is the classic MVP debate though. Personally, I think holding that against a player is weak. I think going after Harden for playing half the sport is fair, and that Giannis alters an opponent's strategy completely in a way that Harden does not. To me, that's an MVP. But arguing he shouldn't win because the situation makes him put up monster numbers has always been a bit of a weak thesis IMO
  15. I think that's a little simple and dismissive of a guy who is one of the greatest scorers the NBA has ever seen. I personally think Giannis is a better player, but I wouldn't feel it is some injustice if Harden wins. It's kinda similar to the criticism of Iverson in his prime, a lot of which I was saying back then, but in hindsight I respect his game more and view them both as guys who were so good at scoring they were able to make winners of otherwise meh teams. I don't think it's fair to say he can't win MVP because Golden State and Toronto and Milwaukee wouldn't need him to do what he does.
  16. That would surprise me because I think either one is a valid choice. I am expecting at most a 60-40 split.
  17. Almost all places waive fees if ordered over phone. The fee is basically charged by the software provider.
  18. Harden is extreme volume and efficiency. He's an absolute machine offensively, and Giannis is the all-around player. Harden won the anonymous player poll, which leads me to think the same is going to happen with MVP. A close vote, but tenure + scoring + Houston being trash without him will win out.
  19. Bullpens are volatile but the Brewers won 96 games last year with a run differential of +95. Look at the other division champions and you can see how differently that team was built. Just saying there wasn't and probably isn't a whole lot of margin for error. The pen basically has to be very good or they have to score a lot more runs or a little bit of both. 8-3 with a RD of -1 is not very comforting. It's April 9 though.
  20. I actually don't think Giannis is going to get the MVP. Harden is going to get it because PPG is king in the NBA. And he has been a superstar longer.
  21. Jeffress wasn't overused. But I agree there is reason for concern. I've been keeping it in, but a lot of reason to believe 8-2 is a bit of a mirage. Run differential hasn't been very flattering. It wasn't last year either, but the pen made that passable. I'm not sure we can expect that again.
  22. That exchange with Carlos Rogers has been made way too big particularly in this thread. His whole point in sharing it was that Rodgers made jokes he would never be able to take himself, which in retrospect, is probably 100% true. Since Jennings has admitted his whole beef began with Rodgers not wanting to keep him in GB, it makes a lot of sense that story would stick with him. But he is sensitive. On the second part, those guys share stories when called and asked. If Colin Cowherd calls him and invites him on the show, why isn't he going to say yes and answer some questions? Jennings is working as an analyst, so it makes little sense for him to reject air time. But I don't put he and Finley in the same category. One has, for the most part, simply shared his experiences in GB and admitted a little bit of bad blood. The other is, frankly, not very bright, and just venting spleen at the nearest tape recorder.
