  1. Living in MN, I'd be surprised if Ryan is traded away. They are tied for the last WC spot right now. And after last season's sell off, the fans revolted enough that the owners made some key management changes and have been careful to build back trust. Whether it is the right baseball decision or not, I think they are going to be buyers instead of sellers.
  2. Given the state of our rotation, 5 IP every start is valuable.
  3. Hot cakes instead of hot takes? If Murphy stuffs a hot cake into his pants, does it become a hot pocket?
  4. SP: Either Reese Olson or Rasmussen would be wonderful. Burnes is slated to be ready by the playoffs. Would you say no? Freddy Peralta would be great too. Shane Smith sounds like a typical fixer upper Brewer move. 3B: I was surprised how much Dubon had improved since we had him. Willy Adames if his contract doesn't come with. Luis Urias is out there, but not much of an improvement on Ortiz. Probably Caleb Durbin is the best option. RP: Hader is an easy one here. Tobias Meyers would be another reclamation project (i.e. the Jeffress Award). Or we could get Holby Milner back because it would hurt the Cubs. 1: Olson 2: Durbin 3: Hader.
  5. Titanic... blah. I had to pee three times during the movie. 2 might been excuses to just get out of the theater. ๐Ÿ˜‚
  6. Here is a future of many punny headlines such as "Buck Burries the Heat".
  7. Do you think the teams have a Venmo QR code for this? ๐Ÿ˜‚
  8. Or running into a wall? I hate to say it, but I think Bryce coming back is more of an indicator that they wanted a long BP/spot starter. SP depth is a mite thin at the moment.
  9. That was a nice complementing compliment. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  10. Well, they traded away their former GM...๐Ÿ˜
  11. If Jones was brought up so Perkins could go down, I'd agree. But since Lara is taking Perkins (and Frelick's) playing time in the OF, it looks like Jones came up for Hamilton. I'd be surprised (and massively disappointed) if Jones does anything in the OF.
  12. The correction wasn't much better... ๐Ÿ™„ Dallas also trades AJ Johnson to Memphis and a 2030 conditional first-round pick and a 2029 second-round selection to Memphis.
  13. What would you think about getting Arraez (FA after 2026) and moving Turang to 3B for the remainder of the season? It wouldn't be a permanent move, but would drastically improve our 3B hole right now. Sometimes you just have to be creative...
  14. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/49301627/khris-middleton-back-wizards-2nd-stint-6-team-sign-trade-deal Ohm Youngmisuk needs to learn to write: Dallas also trades AJ Johnson to Milwaukee and a 2030 conditional first-round pick and a 2029 second-round pick to Memphis. Now, I assume Memphis is getting the 2030 conditional first-round pick and not Milwaukee, but that is a horrible way to grammar a sentence!
  15. And they should take on bad contracts if it brings back future assets. They are below the apron, so they aren't really restricted to do much. They aren't going to bring in any big FA. Kuz comes off next year... Sure take on salary.. it isn't my money. ๐Ÿ˜‚
  16. I had a coach suggest I try hitting left handed... but mainly because it couldn't be any worse... ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜‚ I was the Joey Ortiz of my day... all glove, no bat.
  17. The 3 Plate Appearance Club Only a tiny handful of players in modern MLB history have ever stepped up to the plate 3 times in a single inning. Only one did it without recording a hit: Ted Williams (May 8, 1948): Playing for the Red Sox against the Tigers, Williams came to the plate 3 times during a massive 14-run 7th inning. He didn't get a hit, but he didn't make 3 outs eitherโ€”he walked twice and grounded into a fielder's choice.
  18. It doesn't take much to see that. The only reason Joey is on an MLB roster is his defense. He is head and shoulders better defensively than Hamilton - 3B and SS.
  19. The solution to Ortiz's hitting woes was to move him back to 3B? Not including tonight: I Split G GS PA AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS TB GDP HBP SH SF IBB ROE BAbip tOPS+ as 2B 12 31 25 5 8 1 0 1 5 0 0 4 6 .320 .419 .480 .899 12 0 1 0 1 0 0 .368 184 as 3B 143 512 446 56 104 22 6 10 58 11 6 50 108 .233 .313 .377 .690 168 12 5 4 7 0 1 .281 117 as SS 211 708 646 81 147 26 1 9 66 19 7 48 108 .228 .283 .313 .596 202 14 3 9 2 0 2 .260 88 Swap Joey and Bryce and then we'd really have something!
  20. So $200k down is about exactly what I did for my last house - about half. An equivalent house to rent is about $3k/month compared to my $1k/month mortgage. Thus $2k/month savings - about 12% APR of my $200k investment or the typical S&P average. That disparity will only increase since my mortgage is fixed... and rent won't be. When I originally put $10k down on my first $90k house, rent was about the same as my mortgage ($400/month). But then $10k doesn't make much/year either. It's more about keeping your mortgage payment under your rent. That doesn't happen initially... but happens in the long term. Plus, my $400k house is currently worth $800k after 9 years. I do tend to buy houses that need some love and use sweat equity to improve them. Nerdwallet has nothing on me... ๐Ÿ˜‰
