  1. Or watching him sulk on the sidelines... seeing him get hurt... seeing him focused on making headlines... nope, nope, and nope. Yep, I would second this if we are making a trade.
  2. Looks like its happening. Still pending physical, but good enough for me: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/03/brewers-sign-dan-jennings.html
  3. A few more pitchers and I'd pick the Brewers, but I'm pretty sure it will be the Packers.
  4. Why not both?
  5. I'll second McCray at RG. I thought he did really well last year. Surprisingly well. Murphy also. Grab another LT in the 4th round, transition him to RG/RT and we are good. I'm not ready to give up in Spriggs though. We will see how he does in camp.
  6. I hope to have better things to do in 4 years that discuss Cobb signing with the Orioles. Especially in the Chris Archer thread...
  7. Before the season, he didn't even pitch in 2017. Nuts... I thought I had vetted all of them... I did just dust this off after 1.5 years. New job and moving to a new city will do that to you.
  8. Well, his son lost his best player to sexual assault...
  9. Wow... Burnett's contract was 3 years for $14.5M. Hard to see him walk away at that price.
  10. Sweet release! I finally have some closure (of the Cobb thread that is...)
  11. Yes, Perrin and Brown were in my top 25, but couldn't crack the top 10 RHSP list. I'm hoping for Missaki, but given his arm issues I have little faith that he makes the MLB squad. When I did the ratings, I debated Williams at RP or SP, but left him at SP. Its a small chance they use him at SP anymore, but I'll give up that hope when he is pitching out of a BP this year (MLB or AAA).
  12. Which one? Dad or the son?
  13. See how good my predictions are? One already came true!
  14. As part of my top 25, I have a spreadsheet that organizes all the players I ranked by position. It gives some interesting insights to our minor league strengths and weaknesses. Don't worry if these aren't ranked the way you agree with... the point is to show depth. RHSP depth is the strength as 10 of my top 20 and 12 of my top 25 are RH starting pitchers. LHSP conversely was really weak. I think Kodi will bounce back, but still better chance as a reliever. Kirby and Lemons have a chance, but are a long way away C - Interesting depth, but no can't miss prospects. But I'm guessing at least one of them makes the MLB level. 15. I just noticed how deep we are in RHSP. My top 25 has 12 of them. At catcher, we are deep in talent, but not the "can't miss types", so they tend to be lower ranked. It will be interesting who comes out ahead this year. My Breakouts: KJ Harrison, Ernesto Martinez Jr, Zach Clark My Bounce backs: Kodi Medeiros, Lucas Erceg, Phil Bickford Good bye to: Clint Coulter, Yadiel Rivera, and Tyrone Taylor
  16. Clay was actually pretty good last year. One of the few defensive bright spots.
  17. I would assume that is part of losing the head coach. There isn't any real leadership at that point since everyone knows the guy in the "interim" seat isn't going to last.
  18. I wouldn't have minded Burnett back this year, but not at his asking price. To get paid like an elite player you need to elevate those around you and I didn't see him do that in the last couple years. He wasn't one of the "problems", but he wasn't one of the solutions either. As others have said, this is normal football turnover. At least we have Jones, Evans and Brice as depth. None of them are stars (yet), but not much different than Burnett either. If signing a "Tramon Williams" is all they need to do to avert disaster than we have it pretty easy. Bashaud Breeland is an interesting option. I'm guessing he resigns with Carolina after his foot heals, but I wonder if the Pack can make a play before then? Not sure how risky it would be to waive that injury to sign him, but something to consider. Ross Cockrell is another possibility. Or we could look at Tramon and/or Eric Reid on the less expensive side. Expect a CB with one of the top two draft picks for the Pack this year and most likely a second later (if TT were still running the draft, i would say certainly another CB). Add in King (who played well last year when not injured) and Rollins (slot CB). It will be interesting who out of Brown, Pipkins, Hawkins and Waters can step up their play after another year's experience (and hopefully better coaching). Yeah, I wish they were all all-stars back there, but its not like the stable is empty either.
  19. Updated. A few DSLers made the list this time. Ratings added for no other reason than just to show where there is some separation between groups of players. It was really close between Hiura and Burnes, but it came down to Burnes being closer to the MLB level and therefore, less risky. 20. He certainly doesn't have what he used to, but I doubt this has anything to do with inability to get separation. Jordy has never been a quick twitch guy. He is a long strider and normally runs longer routes. When your QB can't throw accurately past 10 yards, he certainly isn't going to be a good fit. I'm pretty certain he is going to fit into the Raiders scheme very well this year. I'd put money down that he will be above average this year. But even so I was a bit surprised by his contract. I was thinking more in the $5M range, but hey, someone thinks he has gas in the tank. It would've been nice to keep him at $5M this year and let him retire a Packer.
  21. Remember that QB that led his team to the playoffs 7 times in 10 years? Then was inducted to the Hall of the Very Good? Nah, me neither. People remember the teams that are epic failures at winning their championships. The Vikings and Bills have lost 4 Super Bowls without winning any. The Cubs were known for not winning a WS in 100+ years. Now that curse is broken. We have waited long enough for one...I wish to be excluded from the "no championship club". Here in MN, Twins fans make fun of me for being a Brewer fan. I remind them that they cheer for the Vikings while I'm a Packer fan. So its a draw...
  22. Ditto. +1. There is only one reason we play the game. My answer might be a little different if we ever won one... but we haven't. I've followed the Brewers since '87 and we have only had a few good seasons in those years. I can take another 9 years of bad baseball for one WS victory. Easy choice.
  23. Wes Obermueller has the upside of being a #2 or #3 pitcher! All he need is a .... blast. Those 12 year old threads resurrected have me all confused now...
