  1. Playing one-one-one as a CB on the outside and getting burnt often will do that to a person. He made some great plays too, but its hard to forget the bad ones when its so obvious.
  2. I was thinking more of the Chmura era, but I do remember a lot of backlash around Lofton too. To say it has anything to do with racism is ridiculous, but certainly about attitude and culture. Donald Driver, Bart Starr, Reggie White, Gilbert Brown were all fan favorites. Yes, they all played well, but they were leaders, helped in the community and built up their teammates. Its the typical midwest ethics expectations. Come in with focus on self, big mouth, and self interest and we typically push that away. For the criminal/moral portion, there certainly is an expectation there too. Yes, we have had some bad guys, but they rarely stay long. Especially if they don't clean up their act. Normally, there has to be some effort on the player's side to show remorse and improvement if he is going to stay. Remember it was in the 80s and 90s (and probably earlier) that people turned a blind eye towards football players that were stars and did horrible things off the field. So being a "Packer people" was taking a stance against that. Mark Chmura pretty much cemented it in my mind to be a Packer fan and not a Packer player fan. My Jersey has 00 on it with my name instead of a players name. When Rodgers retires or leaves, I will remain a Packer fan. If Bakhtiari becomes a wife beater, he can go. I stay.
  3. I don't now about "good", but certainly much maligned in GB and probably better than thought of. It didn't help that they passed on Troy Vincent out of UW that became an all-pro CB.
  4. I don't know if its completely off to call him TBuck 2.0. There are a lot of similarities. While they called him a physical tackler last night on the coverage (and showed the requisite tackling clip to back it up), most of the scouting reports state that he doesn't like taking on blocks and isn't all that willing to tackle. And its not all about height, its about the size of his body. He is rather slight without a lot of opportunity to bulk up. TBuck is a worthy comparison. Doesn't mean that it was a bad pick, but it's certainly a concern. I still like the pick (and especially trading down for him). I would've been more upset with Hughes, who is a short and slow CB. At least Alexander has speed. That and now we can get a jersey with my son's name on it (without ordering it special).
  5. And part of my point was why do we need anyone besides Josh Hader in the "Hader role," particularly someone who's stuff isn't close to equivalent? Because part of draft and develop is replacing people you have. Who knows what or where Hader will be in 2-3 years.
  6. I wouldn't rule out an OT in the 2nd either.
  7. I do remember an article right after they hired Pettine that he likes having a tall CB on one side and a short/fast CB on the other. Assuming that helps with match-ups. So this makes sense in that light. So... trade up into the first again?
  8. Not bad. Trade a 3rd round pick for a 1st next year + 5th and 7th this year. Pick a guy many thought they would take at 14...
  9. BTW, "Trade down" is not necessarily the winner of the poll. The question is "Who do you think the Packers will take in the 1st round?" Doesn't specify #14. Several of us could still be right. #14 was the intent of the question. My poll, my rules.
  10. Are you trying to troll? Yes, most of us have G&G googles, but that is common with many fans.
  11. I was thinking Jackson at 27 also.
  12. Trade down was the winner with all options on the board (except for Ward).
  13. I'm going to LMAO when the Packers draft down and pick someone everyone thought they would draft at 14...
  14. Who says they convert him? I'd guess he plays the in-the-box safety with Jones at nickle LB. Find good players and put them in the position to play.
  15. Wow! Bucks out rebounding the Celtics. Had to come write this now before it changes...
  16. I don't care how good he is... I just don't get a G at the 6th pick. Can a guard really impact the NFL game that much anymore?
  17. Ryan Braun - [sarcasm]GG candidate![/sarcasm] - Great play though!
  18. I guess Damarius wasn't good enough... (yes, I know he is moving to safety)
  19. Why do we need to pick? We have both! But ignoring the specifics on the players and focusing on the "power vs OBP" portion: There is a place for both "types" and certainly need for a balance. So really it depends on what you need to balance the team.
  20. To be fair, he did say "Hader role", which would be 2-3 inning reliever. But not necessarily comparing him to Hader directly. At least how I read it.
  21. I hope good things for Cleveland. They have stunk for a long time and in a lot of ways, the city is similar to Milwaukee and GreenBay.
  22. I'll document the draft selections here. Feel free to discuss them here also.

  24. Sorry, "work" happened... Trade down is now an option. For those that picked "other", it would be interesting to hear who you think they will draft. Edit - Oops.. adding an option reset the votes. Drat.
