  1. High draft pick, high draft pick, high draft pick...
  2. They said the same thing about K-Rod...
  3. Yes, I agree everybody makes mistakes. I think one of the things that bothers a lot people is that if they made a mistake of taking drugs, and they were randomly tested at work, they would be fired. I think you are thinking of recreational drugs. I wouldn't mind a few of my employees enhancing their performance... With some, I've been trying to do that for a while now!
  4. I'm mad at MLB for leaking confidential information. I'm mad at ESPN for reporting on rumors without facts. It doesn't matter that they eventually get it right, it smacks of tabloid, not jounalism. I'm mad at Braun for taking PEDs. No PEDs, no lies. Suspend them all. But at the end of the day, they are still humans that make mistakes. Celebrities that make mistakes (you don't see my mistakes). I will continue to be a Brewer's fan. And if Braun remains on the team, I will continue to cheer for him. I've lost some respect for the guy, but at the end of the day, he is a human, too.
  5. I think the intention is that having Gennett with the club improves Rickie; Either by motivation or simply by getting more days off.
  6. I'm remarkably sanguine about the whole thing, but the way the suspension shakes out having Braun suspended in a season that's already lost doesn't really effect me. That's perhaps the selfish way of looking at it, but there it is. This is where I'm at also. One of my first thoughts was, "At least Braun's suspension will help the Brewer's get a high draft pick and won't screw up next year.
  7. KHrush Davis returns! I'd like to see him get some extended time in LF.
  8. Axford, Gonzalez and Aoki to Detroit on 7/25. I can't think of a recent mid-season trade between two teams that involved two players going to one team, let alone three.
  9. There were a lot of oddities in that list... But Damien Manifico's picture was a great one!
  10. Khris Davis to Milwaukee post-Braun. Davis comes in this time red-hot. Excellent. I was just reading last nights Link Report and thinking of this. I hope he gets some extended time to see what we really have.
  11. [sarcasm]Whoa... come to a MD addition group and throw that out??? Are you a Cardinals fan too? Can we vote on banishment? [/sarcasm]
  12. Outfielders: Scott Podsednik (1996) Don't we at least get partial credit for this one?
  13. Luke Dykstra? Almost a lock to be drafted by the Brewers, right? Or at least Jack Z...
  14. While it sucks to enure this season, its exciting to get a chance to draft in the area where we picked up Weeks, Braun and Fielder.
  15. [sarcasm]Why surprising? Its a Brewer theme this year...[/sarcasm]
  16. In a 132-pitch effort to oust NC State, Johnson threw 132 fastballs So we should expect to see him on the DL soon?
  17. It is amazing, is it not. No matter how you look at it, our management seemingly loves to over pay for poor, old players. How many times will we pay $2 to $4 mill for a player that seems a shoe in to perform worse than a 400k rookie. I find this a very ironic statement for this year. Because many of the vets we have playing right now are due to either injuries or poor play of our younger players. Yuni B was a direct result of Green and Bianchi both being injured (not to mention Gamel & Hart). Lohse was signed because our young pitchers were performing poorly in ST plus Roger's injury. We signed several BP guys, but they really aren't blocking anyone in AAA either. And I think everyone of those guys has turned up roses this year. Several AAA BP guys were given chances due to injury, but none of them really held up. So we had to sign K-Rod. In the OF, Khris Davis and Logan Schafer were targeted for the backup OF spots. And Gindl is getting a chance now. So I'm not sure how anyone can complain about the Brewers using vets over in-house options (at least for this year). The only possible exception there was Alex Gonzalez and they corrected that mistake too.
  18. Sweet! So, who should we start to cheer on next? Did you click the link in my previous post? Sorry, no, I missed that. I generally don't get too much time to dig anymore, so I appreciate everyone here that can and providing the cliff notes.
  19. Probably some real pluses and minuses in having your Dad being a professional scout while you are trying to become a pro player.
  20. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is some "wiggle" room to be over budget where the only ramifications would be a fine. Then at some point, a loss of draft pick the next year, right? Anyone know what those limits are? Or is that sealed in a Top Selig Secret envelope?
  21. As of right now, here are the unsigned picks left: 12. Trevor Seidenberger - LHP, TCU 14. Hobbs Johnson - LHP, North Carolina 15. David Denson - 1B, South Hills HS (West Covina, CA) 16. Corey Miller - RHP, Pepperdine 19. Josh Matheson - RHP, Minnesota State - Mankato 20. Ryan Yarbrough - LHP, Old Dominion (Norfolk, VA) 22. Johnny Davis - LF, West Los Angeles College (Culver City, CA) 26. Ky Parrott - CF, Herndon HS (Herndon, VA) 29. Nick Eicholtz - RHP, Cambridge Christian HS (Tampa, FL) 30. Luis Aviles - SS, Southwest Miami HS (Miami, FL) 32. Ryan Deeter - RHP, UCLA 33. Charles Leblanc - SS, Georges Vanier Secondary Sch. (Toronto) 35. Jesse Travis - RHP, Southwest Mississippi Community Col. (Summit, MS) 36. Jesse Weiss - 1B, Kenyon College (Gambier, OH) 37. JaVon Shelby - SS, Tates Creek Sr HS (Lexington, KY) 40. Kenneth Meimerstorf - RF, Bishop Gorman HS (Las Vegas, NV) Any picks people are personally cheering to sign? I'm guessing (while being completely ignorant about details and backgrounds of each) that David Denson is going to be a tough sign. 6'4" 245 1B out of HS. I would think he would head to college and up his stock. I saw a local news piece about Josh Matheson from Mankato. Sounded like he was intending to sign (in fact I'm a little surprised he hasn't already).
  22. Aoki has a .9 WAR with a .297 / .369 / .392 The key is probably what team would be looking for a lead-off hitter. At .369, Aoki is light years ahead of those other guys. If you team is heavy on SLG and needs balance that might also trigger a trade for Aoki.
  23. Anyone think that I'm crazy for wanting Eillis back as PG and ship out Jennings? One unexpected outcome of the Reddick trade was that Ellis played more PG and honestly, sounded like he did pretty well at it. (I don't actually get to watch the games, but listen to some and follow the commentary) That would be contingent on him coming back on a reasonable contract of course... Thoughts?
  24. I don't disagree... but for comparison's sake, the 15th rounder David Denson is 6'4"/245 & doesn't turn 18 until November! Dude is already a monster. Well, sure. But Denson is a 1B. If you can stick at CF being 6-3... wow.
