  1. Cain could be promoted when Schafer comes back... Otherwise, this Huntsville team might rival the LaPorta, Gamel and Salome team from 2 years ago. Except with pitching!
  2. Ten starting pitchers on one staff... neat. I would assume they are still piggybacking starters, right? So I guess that would make sense... Prince didn't have the best A-ball season, but as a college draft pick, I wouldn't think it be a surprise that he is in Brevard this year. Especially if they want Gennett in A-ball. edit - added prince comment
  3. Like totally far out, fer sure! In college we had a program that would convert any text document into "Valley Girl" speak. It would almost bring you to tears reading a physics lab report converted into Valley Girl. Didn't have the guts to ever turn it in that way though...
  4. Haaaart's eyes... boom boom.... are watching you... boom boom.... but they can't see the slider mooooooove...
  5. But you forget, he came from St. Louis, so he is only used to classy fans!
  6. berniebrewer4life - sorry, I was misunderstood your post. I thought you were saying being nearsighted would help, not correcting the nearsightedness. Lots of people have played with glasses (hello Jimmie Gantner), but its the adjustment to them that takes a while. Even switching between my contacts and glasses is a difference.
  7. Lasik has a significant recovery time, up to 6 months for the vision to stabilize. I thought most sport activities could resume in a couple weeks. Except swimming, which would take the full recovery time. I know a few people that had it done and there were some slight changes over time, but not like things were changing day to day or minute to minute...
  8. I'm not sure how having blurry distance vision helps seeing something that starts far away and comes near. I'm near sighted and depending on how bad he is, he will see only a white ball at a distance and as it gets closer, the laces will become clearer. Near sighted doesn't mean you near vision improves. It means your far vision is blurry. So, no this won't help. However, if he is only slightly nearsighted, glasses may only help pickup the ball off the bat when he is playing defense...
  9. I'm a little concerned that Corey doesn't have his glasses/contacts issues worked out at this point. Having both personally, I know that its a tough transition to make. Things look different when you have glasses, sports goggles, contacts and naked eyes. Contacts can make your eyes water, cause discomfort leading to distraction. Your depth perception is a little different. I know a few adults that tried contacts and just couldn't get comfortable with them (I started in 7th grade). Glasses/goggle can smudge when you sweat (see Gagne), bounce when you run, also change depth perception (especially when in a batting stance, looking kind of sideways). And to this point, Hart hasn't found a comfort zone with glasses, goggles not arrived, and just starting to try contacts? Why did he not do Lasik as soon as he found out? I had high hopes that Hart would rebound this year, but this doesn't give me any confidence...
  10. That with his 6+ ERA in ST and a career ERA of 4.97... Not exactly what you look for in a BP arm, let alone a LOOGY...
  11. Somehow I jumped into the middle of all that and was wondering how Sabathia got added to our rotation battle... only to be disappointed that CC meant Craig Counsel... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif So would it seem that Parra pitching in MiLB games would indicate he has a spot? Or has everyone been evenly taking their turns? (Thinking that pitching the MiLB games that they don't need to see him pitch against MLB hitters...)
  12. That's because the Senators/Twins is the same franchise. It's not like the ridiculous Cleveland Browns fiasco where the new expansion Browns keep the former Browns franchise records and the old Browns move to Baltimore and leave their history behind. Maybe its because I'm such a homer, but I completely disagree. Why should I care what the Brewers did as the Seattle Pilots? I think that if a team moves, they leave the "legacy" behind. Maybe that will cause some teams to think twice about leaving. The Browns were a storied franchise that that owner moved for his own selfish reasons. Consider Baltimore as an expansion team at that point with a new start. Then when Cleveland finally got their "team" back, they retain the legacy. Exactly right. Washingtion Nationals should retain the Washington Senators legacy. Milwaukee Brewers, the Milwaukee Braves legacy. I consider Milwaukee to have won 1 WS and lost 2. That's the way it should be. The Los Angelos Angles of Anaheim.... oh never mind.
  13. JB, that was a good response to my Fielder/Mauer question. Sleeping through MicroEcon bites me again... rotten supply vs. demand.... So another question: How long will Mauer remain a catcher? He has already shown himself to be a little injury prone. Do you think he can play out his contract at catcher? Or will they move him at some point to save his knees?
  14. Welcome to BF.net rcon14 and CreamCity. While Gamel isn't ready mainly due to injury, he has carried a high OBP (.374) in the minors. Even with a poor time in Milwaukee last year, he had an OBP of .338. He is well suited for hitting in the #2 spot. He still has to prove himself at the MLB level, but based on his MiLB numbers, he would make a fine #2 hitter.
  15. FYI, for anyone interested, Mass reported (post #7) that Brae returned to action in a AA game in relief.
  16. Mass, that was the first mention of Brae Wright I've seen in a year. Do you know if the Brewers expect him to start in AA? Or just build up arm strength at this point? Thx.
  17. As a father, my diagnosis is that he is a spoiled brat.
  18. Maybe this deserves its own thread, but which player (no "homers" please) would you prefer to have on your team (salary aside): Fielder or Mauer? Fielder has the better SLG, OPS and is younger Mauer plays a premium position, is more injury prone, better AVE and OBP Frankly, it seems to be a wash to me.
  19. Yes, but in "6 weeks" (if he weren't injured) he could still be sitting on the bench. Now we know in "6 weeks" he will be at AAA... Not saying his injury is better than sitting the bench in MLB, just trying to stay positive.
  20. Silver lining = At least we know he won't be sitting on the bench behind MacGehee now when he is healthy. He will start at AAA. So will Heether or Green start at 3B in AAA until Gamel is healthy?
  21. If a team loses one of their top 3 starters, Suppan isn't going to make up that loss. They do what the Brewers did in 08. You plug in guys from your system and hope the injured guy comes back or you stay close enough to deal for a quality arm at the deadline. Most teams have one or two guys close to ready in their systems that they'll go with if a 4th or 5th starter goes down. Suppan simply has next to no value. Brewers will be fortunate if he lands a major league job of any kind so they can save the major league minimum portion of his contract should he be released. You mean like the Brewers did in '09? Plug in guys that were worse than Suppan? If we had a better playoff shot and deeper pockets last year, we wouldn't have suffered through that. We would have gotten someone to fill the spot. Not saying Suppan is worth $4mil (i.e. if MB pays $8million), but injuries on playoff contending teams can change the market in a hurry. And I would bet both Looper and Washburn are counting on that to happen.
  22. But it only takes one or two injuries for that to change quickly...
