  1. Funny. That's exactly how they're describing Brett Phillips. He sounds like a more disciplined Carlos Gomez. No knock on GoGo, just think we found a great replacement.
  2. Mets package screams Doug Melvin, Astros deal screams Ray Montgomery
  3. No. The problem is that you place absolutely zero value on defense which in turn completely invalidates your ideas. The fact you still think Braun can play 3rd in the majors is proof of that.
  4. Geebus, can we just rename this the "How many different ways can I word this to say the same thing" thread? BTW, I'd like to see Melvin given his retirement papers too but enough already.
  5. His post said Braun for Syndegaard. For both Braun and Gomez he said we should be able to get ALL of their young prospects.
  6. Hard to stomach this topic. Trying to keep my sanity with everything else that actually is wrong with organization, I just have to chalk it up to random chance that the small minority spoke up. The double whammy of someone disliking BA followed by someone liking BS was just too much to respond to right away.
  7. Yes, we do know. The answer would without any hint of a doubt be - NO.
  8. The mere suggestion of moving Braun back to 3B should be a bannable offense at this point.
  9. Because you like front runners? The Spurs have been my team since the mid 90's. Before they became front runners. Thank you. Eh, that's precisely when they became front runners.
  10. Let's see - Brewers potentially suffer another sweep tomorrow which would send them to 4-18. Managers are often fired on off days and the Brewers have an off day on Thursday. Hmm, just thinking out loud here...
  11. This is worthy of banishment or at the very least a timeout. We'd lose just as many games if not more with Yost managing this pitching staff.
  12. I didn't think it would require this, but I'l say it again with a link... http://www.csnchicago.com/cubs/greg-maddux-could-be-great-manager-if-he-ever-wants-job Gimme Mad Dog, you can have your Gardenhires Counsells and Valentines.
  13. "With the first pick in the 2016 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft the Milwaukee Brewers select, Riley Pint right hand pitcher from St. Thomas Aquinas High School." "Brewers draft Pint!" I'm very optimistic that such a scenario would make this current season all worthwhile.
  14. And the tepid response to the question illustrates exactly why we're so low in the organizational prospect rankings. If all your hope is concentrated in the lower levels, it's damn near impossible to crack the top 20.
  15. There's a whole lot of revisionist history going on in here. I'll just leave it at that.
  16. Maddon has already spoken on this. He wants to manage next year. And wants big $$$. He was even asked about the fact that his agent is contacting teams without current openings. He said what teams decide to do is out of his control. Given the fact that he doesn't want to take a year off and that there is no doubt a high number of teams that would love to have him, I think its very likely he'll manage in the majors next year.
  17. Could definitely see the Braves as a surprise team but not the Jays. Starting to brace myself that it's gonna be the Cubs though.
  18. Also, even Tampa has come put publicly and said Maddon isn't going to the Dodgers. The fact that Tampa execs even commented on it tells me they know where he's headed.
  19. I'll just use the word "reportedly" to pass along what I'm reading. Maddon wants to go to a big market and both the Dodgers and Mets brass have already commented on record that they're sticking with their current mangers. Maddon's agents reached out to a specific 5 teams to let them know that Maddon would be interested if they magically had an opening. It's a safe assumption the Brewers weren't on that list. Again, Maddon wants a big market. Do the math. Big market - Dodgers, Mets = Angels, Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs. And since the first 3 of those aren't getting rid of their guys, that leaves the Cubs. Yes there are other big markets and Maddon's list wasn't a 1 team list but it sure sounds likes Cubs to me.
  20. They were negotiating right up until the point Maddon opted out. Well, that could still theoretically be part of the process then, couldn't it? No. Not in this case. He's gone. And literally by the minute the signs pointing to the Cubs are multiplying.
  21. They were negotiating right up until the point Maddon opted out.
  22. What kind of public commitment have the Cubs made to their manager?
  23. Knock me over with a feather, Buster Olney just said he loves this trade for the Brewers.
