  1. Hooray defensive substitutions! Kudos to Yost, even if Durham might have been able to turn that. He also could have bobbled it or thrown it away.
  2. I keep reminding myself that in all likelihood, Torres will blow another save at some point this season. Please let it not be tonight.
  3. He cut his own hair in the clubhouse. I'm sure it was a case of having a pack of crazy teammates around egging him to add the extra touch. Braun buzzed his head the same day, only he passed on the lines.
  4. I think he was refering to "attacking" the first pitch, not the nature of the hit. Ambush as in quick strike.
  5. Sure does. He's had them at least since the beginning of the Cardinals series.
  6. Atta boy Hart and Hall! Let's pad this thing and lock it down. I want that share of first.
  7. I'm gonna go ahead and crown him...my all-time favorite Milwaukee Brewer. Thank you Ryan Braun!
  8. It's time to start scoring some runs on this homestand. Let's go claim a share of 1st place!
  9. I'd put this one in the "due diligence" category.
  10. The original reports that two other two minor leaguers were George Kontos and Phil Coke were false. Substitute those two with Daniel McCutchen and Jeff Karstens. I'm no expert on minor league prospects, but apparently this upgrades the haul for Pittsburgh.
  11. I can play if you guys have a spot. I pitched for the inaugural Brewerfan team two years ago before my season was cut short by a prior commitment. I pride myself on limiting walks. That said I felt I had a down season control-wise in 2006 even though I walked a respectable 1 batter / 14.30 batters faced. I keep the opponent in single digits and I think my best is ahead of me. If there is no spot at P or I fail to win the job, I've been playing L/LC in my summer league on a team I just began playing with this summer who had a pitcher who'd been with the team for years. The only negative is that I'll be in Florida Sept. 3-8. If we go Tues/Thurs I think I'd only miss one game if I'm reading your summary correctly. Here are my stats from 2006... http://www.brewerfansoftball.net/milwaukee/statistics06.htm
  12. I remember one of the pitchers relaying to Jim Powell how when they watch the film and gameplan for the next opponent, Kendall is right there next to them working on it. That pitcher made it clear that they were on their own last year. Estrada was nowhere to be found. There is no one that will convince me that the pitching improvement this year is by chance.
  13. If we win you gotta like the fact that we did it without anything from Braun. Maybe he'll lead us to a win later in the series on a night everyone else is quiet.
  14. I gotta say I hope I eat crow for this one. I apologize for the uproar this comment caused. However, I'm pleasantly surprised by the passionate reaction. I'll admit, I expected a bunch of people to chime in with agreement. I guess I figure everyone is bitterly expecting to be let down as much as me. It's nice to see a collection of firm believers in the face of past history.
  15. Going on record...don't agree with batting Torres at all. I'd rather take two chances at getting a hit to go up 2, and have a different reliever in the 10th than leave Torres in there banking on holding a 1-run lead.
  16. In his defense, I was the one who started the whole "this one feels like it's over" vibe.
  17. If Counsell was in defensively at 2nd base in the ninth there, then that sac fly is out number three of a 3-2 Brewers victory.
  18. Be honest, who else here knows that this game is already over.
  19. I'm not gonna make a prediction, but I just wanted to point out my sheer amazement at the fact the Brewers are one 9th inning 5-run blow up in Arizona shy of currently having a .500 road record. If they can win 38-40 road games this year I'll gladly take it.
  20. 1250's just peeved because Tom H. is a fixture on 540.
  21. I think they'll target one of the following... Eddie Guardado Damaso Marte Ron Mahay Will Ohman Forced to pick the one they'll get, I'll go with Ron Mahay. Mahay for Hernan Iribarren + Robert Hinton
  22. Starting pitcher - check LH bat - check Relief pitcher - fingers crossed
  23. Counsell should be brought in as a late inning defensive replacement for both.
  24. Please keep the novelty suits packed quietly away.
