  1. Not Tate's night. HR allowed then what walk, HBP and an awful awful misplay by E. Martinez at first, allowing 2 more runs and the hits keep coming - a "Single" off the ankle of Pratt. Should have been out #4 and he misplays it, and the ball clanks off his leg. Inning is going south quickly. Yikes a passed ball. It's 6-0, on a six run 2nd inning. Oh boy. After the deadline stuff today, expecting a good game by the Shuckers and Kuehner was going to be my therapy?? Now I need therapy for my therapy. Let's TRats, Muddies, and Shuckers please. EDIT: Removed Sounds who will not play as game postponed.
  2. Sure, I mean that is the net, but still misses that this is Quintana & Cortes for Miller. Cortes is not a scrub and not done for the year, so let's not forget that he SHOULD have value. Montgomery was done for the year and we just took on his salary to get Miller. We didn't offload Cortes in a pure salary dump since he was going to pitch in the MLB this season. So we either should have gotten more value from Cortes, and not had to add in a prospect to move him. Maybe there is more, and yes Quintana may not be a major prospect ever, but I think I just overvalued Cortes trade value I guess?
  3. I am with you Joseph, but just because someone may have a lot of money, doesn't mean they should buy $5 value with a $10 bill. Jorge Quintana should carry top-30 prospect talent in most systems, and using him to move Cortes is dumbfounding since Cortes is a MLB caliber pitcher. We should be taking on assets, not losing them, let along one who is top 50 in our system (and top 30 is many systems)
  4. Thanks. Yeah, I'm one of those "hold on to every prospect we have forever" types. But it the use of those prospects as assets. I still don't see how we had to pay salary and give up a prospect to trade Cortes who is a MLB quality pitcher, and the going price for pitchers is high. I get the moving salary and 40-man player out in Cortes, but the return should have higher, or the add on prices from our organization should have been lower. I'm still so confused (and slightly annoyed) at this trade.
  5. Did we truly trade Jorge Quintana. Again it's likely he will never be any impact at the MLB level, it is just the wasted asset. He is so young, high pedigree player, and being used to help offload a quality MLB pitcher??? Even with the Miller trade, still completely perplexed by the asset management. Quintana could and should have been a bigger chip is a deal to add a player, not one to make one go away.
  6. Ha. I didn't watch last night. My last night was Tuesday, thanks for reminding me, and those teams are still intact too 😉
  7. Ha. technically .... yes 🫤
  8. I will take solace in the fact that I can watch MiLB tonight. And knowing that the same group of young prospects I saw last night will still be on the teams tonight will help me get through all this mess....
  9. Wow. I mean Cortes has been injured essentially all year. But trading him for someone who is barely a roster filler is just surprising. If we couldn't get a UT or reliever on the market because the costs were too high, how was the team not able to get some of those costs back for a MLB caliber starting pitcher?? We will never know how these things pan out, but this is just so surprising when I think any reliver could have gotten a half decent prospect in this crazy market and a starting pitcher got us a 28 year old who was good at AA???
  10. OH wait, we actually did trade a pitcher 😬
  11. Hey at least we didn't trade away our closer right ..... 🙄
  12. Absolutely yes, but it is important to try to add someone of some value to that clubhouse to indicate that you do and want to try to improve in any way. I'm guessing the acquisition costs are too high, and the Brewers are prudently not wanting to sell Pratt, Henderson etc for a player who may benefit them for a few months, and those assets are best used for future teams (either as being on our roster or for a future trade with hopefully better return) Crazy trade deadline day, a lot of name players moving and some higher end prospects going too.
  13. I will take a stab, as Tyler Locklear is a lot like Tyler Black except Locklear has had production the past two years, so maybe more Blake Burke in comparison? It would like Tyler Black traded in '24. Juan Burgos seems like a Carlos Rodriguez comp, but maybe Coleman Crow at higher end. Older, more advanced, good stats, but not a top of the rotation guy, but mid rotation to probably back-end/middle reliever. Maybe Chad Patrick at best. Hunter Cranton is hard to comp since he was a '24 draft pick, but a college pitcher. So maybe more in line with Holobetz who we traded in the Priester deal. I would have said DeBerry but he has no where near the velo that Cranton is reported to have in write ups. But a fringe top 30 guy (or more like top 40 in our system). So highest end comp is Burke/Patrick/Holobetz, and low end comp is Black/CFRodgriguez/DeBerry. I will look forward to be proven wrong by the prospect gurus 😉
  14. Wednesday nights haven’t been the best it seems - I usually have a meeting and dinner so miss many of them and seems the last few weeks I’ve thought “Wow I guess I didn’t miss much” - but hey old brain so I may be wrong and the recency bias of tonight makes me believe it. i will have to look it up later just to see if my gut reaction is close, or way off base.
  15. I compared my list to the consensus and was pretty much in alignment with most picks, only a few folks was I more than 3 spots off - I was much higher on Luis Lara (I had him 8, where the group had him down at 15) and Brady Ebel (NR and would have been #21, and I had him at 14). Otherwise the group was much higher on Yoho (#18, and I would have had him 22-24). I either overlooked Bishop Letson, or really downgraded him due to shoulder injury (I think the latter) and he would have been #21 for me, but was still #12 on the consensus board. Otherwise Boeve and Meccage were only 3 spots different. We have really a consensus top 6 (Made/Pena/Pratt, followed by Henderson/Quero/Dinges) then it can vary quite a bit.
  16. It was frustrating to watch if you couldn’t tell from my incessant posts. Whoops. I was venting a little.
  17. Welp turned on to Shuckers to watch Hunt’s nice outing. And he’s out after 5 IP (rain delay in between) and 75 pitches. Root is in now. I’ll catch up later. But the DSL Gold now could be a 1-run loss from an organizational sweep.
  18. Can’t take anything away from Renz. He has a very solid debut. Impressive outing. Hopefully part of a nice group of A/ACL pitchers who can develop and advance together- Dorchies, Meccage, Hernandez, Dubanewicz, Tobias, Renz, Mercado. Nice group of teenagers.
  19. Home plate ump can’t mess this up. A. Reyes comes in and induces a grounder. Yup out #6 to finally end the game. Sheesh 🙄
  20. I’m sorry this ump has me just yelling at my screen. These are just pathetic calls. I’m not sure what else but embarrassing And another walk. Had two or theee strikeouts there. Going to have to get out #6 in this inning. 🙄
  21. Renz is not missing by much. But he is getting zero close calls. I mean nothing. Just poor form
  22. This ump is awful. I mean that’s the 2nd strike three he missed. And now a hit and a run. Game should have been over. C’mon you have to be better than that this is professional baseball. That is just a bad night of calling a game. Yikes
  23. Wow umps somehow blew the count. Really. In a real game, 9th inning and everyone including the Augusta announcer believed it was 2-2 and then strike 3. But the only one who matters is the home plate ump who thought it was 3-1 I don’t make this up then next pitch is a walk 🤷‍♂️
  24. Renz gives up his first hit, but then gets a K swinging. Two more outs to close it out Talking about closing it out, Seppings gets the K. And TRats hold on for a win.
