  1. And on the flip side, Kyle Schweitzer for the Barons has been absolutely shut down against the Shuckers. 5 IP, and only allowed 2 hits and gave up 3 walks, but 5 Ks, and the Shuckers have had nothing going since those first 2 innings. Liranzo battling in the 10th to try to get 2 more outs.
  2. It is LIranzo, and 95 mph heat on the outside part of the plate and the first man is out with a K. That's huge. Oh no, BUT, a HBP, and runners at 1st and 2nd now, 1 out.
  3. Mona Ks to end the top 10. But a big 11-7 lead now. And the Sounds have to get 3 outs, before they give up 4 runs. Sounds so simple, so incredibly simple. Yet this is baseball. Nothing is easy. Let's see if Liranzo comes out again or another pitcher.
  4. My first time watching Josh Maceijewski - and looking good. 2 clean innings. SOlid relief for him so far.
  5. Wilken very patient at the plate gets his 2nd walk. He's had a bunch of walk recently. EMJ Ks in Charlotte. He took a rip. I mean he swung on strike 2 like he wanted to hit a grand slam with the bases empty lol. And back in Birmingham, Miller GIDP to end the inning for Biloxi on a weird play. 1B came off the bag, Miller never touched 1st base, and he ran around, then the fielder just stepped on the bag. OK. In GameDay it just grounds into a double play.
  6. And Oliva rips a HR to make it 11-7. Sounds ready for extras tonight!
  7. Missed most of the action tonight. Was it bad Miz, or just one bad pitch (the homer) and some bad luck or something?? Biloxi up 2-0 and Kuehner looked like he struggled early, but settled in. He got through 5 IP and the last two innings i watched he looked good. Offense is not much - mostly walks. The hit by Miller and the error by the Barons pitcher account for the runs. No hits for Pratt or Wilken tonight, both with walks, And Lara looking clueless in his 4 at bats now, with 3 or 4K? Gameday is not working for me, so I've been watching the last few inning to get caught up.
  8. Bitonti: They speak about his power and swing, which many of us know, and that he is pushed off 3B due to the players who play on the IF (Made, Pena, DiTurri), and summarize with the following excerpts: "Even if the Brewers do keep Bitonti at first base, the offensive upside is there for him to handle that position. .... It’s a risky profile, but there’s potential for big payoff if everything clicks." Pena: "Peña’s barrel accuracy stands out, as he rarely swings and misses—in or out of the zone—though one of the big questions with him was whether he would be able to develop a more disciplined approach." And one of the things I've noticed: "He’s a good athlete, but early on, he has shown he will have to clean some things up defensively—both with both his fielding and throwing—to stick in the infield" Adamczewski: "He had a lower profile coming out of an Indiana high school as a Ball State commit who the Brewers drafted as a 15th-round pick in 2023 .... Adamczewski has a lefthanded stroke that’s calm, balanced and adjustable, bringing a hit-over-power profile with enough juice to give him a chance for 15-20 home runs." Hopefully that is good info, and within guidelines, as I only took about a sentence and a half from 2 paragraph reviews on all 3 players.
  9. @Joseph Zarr will enjoy this one, and it is fitting considering what is the previous post above. BA listed "10 Low-A MLB Prospects Ready To Rise Up Rankings In 2025". And Luis Pena makes the list of potential top-100 players, along with Eric Bitonti, which shows how good that team is with Braylon Payne and Jesus Made as highly ranked prospects who are already on BA lists. But among the Sleeper Prospects ... none other than Josh Adamczewski. It is BA+ and behind paywall but here is the link for those with subscriptions: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/10-low-a-mlb-prospects-ready-to-rise-up-rankings-in-2025/ I will defer to moderators if I can cut and paste some of what they wrote (like a sentence or parts of sentences), or if I can paraphrase it if needed too.
  10. Good point, but in general the top prospect lists do have a higher rate of success than those off the list, but the key point of future MLB starters or even stars do not only come from these highly publicized lists. We will see important players for the Brewers who are not in our top10-20 lists, or arrive late on the lists just as they ascend to the upper levels/bigs. Like a Brandon Woodruff who was not on lists until he burst on in 2016-2017. So it is similar to like a 6th round QB going to have HOF careers, or late round skaters or goalies becoming HOFers, among many others. But the 1st/2nd rounds of NFL and NHL draft produce more top talent, just like more of the top talent in MLB comes from those lists. But we see every year key players or pieces who come from relative obscurity to become bona fide MLBers.
  11. Great write up, thanks, Joseph! And the Muddies have started the season on quite a tear. Wow that line up is doing silly things right now mostly given the ages of most of those players (half are teenagers still!) Season still so young, just like the Mudcats line-up. Hopeful the Shuckers (see there's an H there today), can turn things around. Good pieces who are looking like they could get going (looking at you Brock and EBJ). But Cooper Pratt has had a very good start to his AA career and boy a 3H, 3SB night. And my boy Alexander Cornielle, wasn't anywhere as sharp, but had the Barons off balance with an incredible 11K performance. Ties his career high for affiliated ball, and did it in only 4 innings. His pitch count kept him for logging more innings. Nothing overpowering, but he usually finds the zone and mixes things up well. But if he can find that balance of getting Ks with a reasonable pitch count, he could be a legit pitching prospect real soon. Plus he is bilingual (born in the Dominican, but learned English as a kid and serves as a translator for many Spanish-speaking players on his teams, and that is a good trait to have for clubhouses and winnings teams).
  12. I did say occasionally 😉 But I don't know if you were listening tonight, but did you notice that the announcer was like "he missed inside" when it was off the plate away from the hitter. Or was I imagining things there? But I swear I heard that about 4-5 times tonight. EDIT: Anyway good night all. A 3-1 night for the affiliates.
  13. @Joseph Zarr - was it you or another poster who gets LF and RF confused occasionally? Only reason I ask - the Birmingham announcer seems to get inside and outside of the plate confused a few times, unless there is some odd Biloxi camera thing where the angle of the plate is reversed. And on a pitch right down the middle, so neither inside or outside, Childers get a K. Game over. Nice win!
  14. Welp, no such luck. Grounder to Pratt for out 1. I'll take a quick inning for Childers and a big W for Biloxi.
  15. Not much there in the 9th. Pratt flies out, Wilken strikes out swinging (his only K tonight), and Miller Ks looking But Cooper Pratt 3-4, with two 2B, 1 BB, 0 K, and 3 SB! On to the bottom of 9th. Let's go Shuckers.
  16. A resurgent Ethan Murray would be great for him, the Brewers (he seems like he could be a UT guy in the bigs if he can hit) , and for Areinamo who would moved up if/when Murray, or another IF gets bumped up to AAA.
  17. Electric inning for Bryant in a quickish inning. After a 7 pitch at bat that got a grounder, he strikes out the next two batter with 96 mph heater. On to the 9th.
  18. So I'm going even deeper. There have only been two games where 2 hitters had multi-hit games (only 9 multi hit games so far in this young season). Those two games have been Sunday 4/13 and today 4/15, and those players are Pratt +Murray, and Pratt + Murray
  19. Spain drills a ball to deep right field and it is now 6-1 Shuckers. Let's go boys, hopefully the start of a good streak here for this team with a bunch of prospects. Lara grounds out. But still overall a good showing for Biloxi overall. And on to the bottom of 8. 6 more outs to get
  20. So two Shuckers hitter have had 3 hit nights this season.... and both of them in THIS game. Pratt and Murray
  21. I love it. Wow see what happens when the Shuckers play entertaining baseball 🤣
  22. And Bryant not sharp - He throws 5 straight ball. Gives up the walk to load the bases. Then gets a couple of swinging strikes. Big at bat here. Bryant needs to get this batter, no room for error. And ... just missed on a breaking ball. 2-2 count now. And ... foul.. next pitch and BIG SWING and MISS! Hugh K there Tyler yes sir!
  23. Well, Merkel gets one big out. Pop up to Murray. And that is the end of his night. Good relief effort for Mr Merkel. Tyler Bryant is in to pitch. An indy league signing last season who had some electric outings in A-ball (both levels) last year.
  24. Wild strike out. The Baron hitter (Gladney) checks his swing, and the ball nicks the end of the bat, and caught by Miller, so technically a foul tip strike. Lets see if Merkel can get another couple big outs here.
  25. OK. Mr. Nick Merkel is not liking our discussion of his nickname, and as protest has led to a 4 pitch walk and then a HBP. So now 2 on, no out in the bottom of 7. Still 5-1 Shuckers lead. Merkel will have another batter or two as they have another reliever going in the bullpen.
