  1. Henderson looked like he was fighting it. He also does some headshakes when he is getting ready to pitch. Not sure what but almost looked like he was shaking his head at his night. ‘When he was locked in (2nd and 3rd) he was relying on his FB/change and when he located his cutter (like when it appeared not outside or high to me) he was fine. Command particularly of his ‘other’ pitches was his key. Hopefully this is something he can work on and get a reliable 3rd or even 4th pitch. EMJ triple was the offensive highlight. Well hit ball and he showed off some wheels for a big fella. Let's see how today goes. It’s always interesting for a Miz start - which version will we see.
  2. McGee gets out of the 5th. I am hopping off for a bit.
  3. Phew. He threw a few sliders according to announcer. And gets out of the inning. Maybe his last inning. McGee was warming up.
  4. Logan really struggling again in the 4th. Pitch count approaching 80, two on and two outs. And he just had a pitch clock violation, then a walk to load it. Ugh. Not very good. Logan just hit a wall after settling after a poor first inning.
  5. Logan goes back to cutter and on back to back pitches. First was a strike. Second was hit out for a homer. Wonder if he will try cutter again?
  6. Solid third inning. A couple of hard hit balls but at fielders. The third out was a nice grab down the line by Durbin with an average throw to get the runner. Not amazing, but solid enough that you can see that playing up in the majors.
  7. Does stat cast have the EVs for hits in AAA? EDIT - never mind I found it. eMJ hit was 102.9 mph
  8. Got it. Not as good with using stat cast - I’m pretty ignorant to types and shapes of pitches. ‘I will try to check it out more to try to learn.
  9. I didn’t see the cutter or know how to see it. I agree I’d rather have him struggle and learn a third pitch maybe next starts. EMJ with a hard hit to the right center gap and hustles for a triple The Siegler with a hard hit out to score a run.
  10. That’s more like it. 3 Ks in a row in the 2nd. Much more in control for Logan. Let’s hope this is what we the rest of the game. Now the offense can start to get going. Looked overmatched in the first.
  11. Fighting command and then gets hit when he has to put it over the plate. Ugh. Here we go. Another 4 run inning by the starter
  12. only 8 times this century have the Brewers started off 0-2 to start the season, and this is the worst in terms of run differential so far. (2022, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2011, 2003 and 2001). The 2015 team went on to start 0-4, the 2011 team went 0-4 although that year went well ultimately, and the 2003 team went 0-6 to start for the absolute nadir of a season for this franchise. Outside of the 2011 team, that is not great company (2022 and 2017 teams were competitive but did not make the playoffs)
  13. Ok. I didn’t truly endorse it was a fair league, but really more that the ownership could (and I believe should) do more to keep or sign players to remain closer to the middle than to the Pirates in payroll. But agree it is not a fair league Either way the evil empire is forcing its will on the upstart small market team today, and it is highlighting one of the big ills in baseball.
  14. Yes and no. The top 4 outpace the league. But the bottom 5 are abysmal. A team with playoff intentions and a reasonable core of talent should not be there below Minnesota, KC, Cincinnati, St Louis and Colorado. Minnesota and KC are in same boat trying to be competitive in a small market, and St Louis and Colorado are rebuilding in medium sized markets, and Cincinnati is in between. If Milwaukee ownership and management were serious they could be in that $125-140 range - along with the scouting, development abilities that would be a competitive team. But not spending for another legitimate arm and/or bat and staying that low in payroll is unfair to us fans. So the league is not fair, but that doesn’t mean ownership is not part of that problem. And the last year or so of personnel decisions have been less than stellar (after the December’23/Janury’24 coup of Contreras trade, Chourio deal and IFA class).
  15. Yes and no. Hader trade (and subsequent acquisition of Contreras) was very good. But since we have been slumping. And usually better at manipulating roster spots but losing Shane Smith, and having Thomas (and previously Jay) waste these spots is poor management. Plus Hall and Cortes had red flags and management clearly looking like they whiffed in those assessments.
  16. Last season we traded Burnes for Joey Ortiz, and a pitcher who is either injured or highly ineffective. And this offseason we lost Willy Adames for nothing (well a draft pick so I’m excited). Then traded D. Williams for a guy at AAA and a pitcher who is heading toward the IL. And we “traded” Shane Smith’s roster spot for Connor Thomas. Boy that compensatory draft pick (from Adames) better be a future hall of famer.
  17. Cannot or won’t. In 2019 and 2022 they did have payroll in the 17-19th range in the league, but last few seasons more like 20-24th. i like the moves they make, but cannot keep losing players and stay competitive. This season may be that wake up call (may be for fans or just me). Hopefully management can and will spend into the 15th-18th range in payroll for a season or two like 2018-2019.
  18. Cannot or won’t. 19. So compiling the last 8 minor league lineups, looking like a consensus is starting for the positional line-ups. Biloxi: Lara, cf - Quero, dh - Pratt, ss - Adams, 1b - Wilken, 3b - Miller/R.Rodriguez, c - Brown, if/of - Murray/Warren, if/of - Restituyo, of. No O'Rae for a little while, so not sure if he is hurt. But would likely slot in with Brown, Murray, Warren as if/of. Wisconsin: Yophery, of - Burke, 1b/dh - Areinamo, ss - Baez, 3b- Guilarte, 2b - E.Garcia, of - Wood/D.Garcia, c Last 2 positions/bench are: Y.Garcia, of - Vargas, if/of - Hall, dh/1b - Castillo, of, H.Perez, of/dh Carolina: Payne, cf - Adamczewski, 2b - Made, 3b - Dinges, c/dh - Bitonti, 1b/dh - Pena, ss - Nicasia, of - Walling, of/1b/dh, with a bench of Anderson, of - DiTuri, if - Diaz, c. Along with Alastre, Nadal and Barrios/Holguin. Anyone missing? Or not accounted for?
  20. My morning routine (or is it a ritual)is back. my family came back last night so I opted not to watch the Sounds game (outside of an u neventful 2nd Inning). but this is my first morning read today. Life is good. Thanks again.
  21. Yup I have been waiting for minor league opening day since about late last September ;)
  22. And how did I miss Ty Duvall - who is he and where did he come from? (Well yes I realize a quick Google search and I will have those answers), just a name I somehow missed this past offseason I guess UPDATE - so he was just signed as a FA on 3/26/25 as Mass reported in the Transaction thread - Ha! I need to read all the forums before posting ..... 😉
  23. It's in the Nashville thread But Black is on the IL per Curt Hogg
  24. There is a lot of helium with Jesus, and I want to see him succeed, but also realize that Jackson Chourio ascension is a generational scenario where the talent and the production mesh so quickly. I suspect Jesus will stay at low A all season with a late season call up to A+ if doing very well. But we are all speculating here. I would love for him to mash, go up to high A in the 2nd half and then join Biloxi for the end of season/playoffs (similar to Chourio), but I also have dreams that don't quite come true in real life as well. Pena will another interesting one to watch, as he seems to be running made with Jesus and it will be curious if the two prospects rise in tandem (assuming similar production), or whether they will see different paths. Again, I want Jesus to do well given all the hype, but I am accepting that having a solid low A season and being in Carolina all year is still a very positive sign (Lara and Yophery have both done that and I don't think were hurt with that approach), and Jesus is about 6 months younger than both were when they started low A, so this is already a "promotion" compare to those two, And he is 2 months younger than Chourio was in his low A debut.
