  1. ...and some of "y'all" are massively overrating Archer. Not a chance. 4 years, $33.7 Million for a bonafide workhorse and all its going to cost is a surplus OF who can't field and a MOR prospect with fliers? Yeah, we can play the what if game all day but the one thing you can't deny is Archer is always on the mound. Bonifide workhouse = 2-4 starter, not top of the rotation. He has a nice price, but I don't see top of the rotation.
  2. Right, and I'm just saying that unless Archer's cost is considerably lower to trade for than we know, I'd rather spend the extra ~$10 million/year on a free agent or bring in a salary dump. I think Archer could be fine, but I think there are better ways to keep organizational depth and/or MLB depth by keeping the prospects. If the Brewers miss out on free agency, I hope they do not get desperate and empty the farm for Archer. I like him. He's fine. He's not Chris Sale and there are some red flags with Archer as well. If TB doesn't want to budge on Archer, just pay less for Jake Odorizzi. I kike the two year commitment better than the longer Archer deal.
  3. I think TB wants Santana and 3-4 prospects for Archer. Like it was stated previously, just say no to TB until they drop their requirements. If Burnes is required, I would just say no.
  4. This is about exactly how I fee. If DS was willing to trade Burnes and Ortiz the trade would already be done. If TB needs Burnes and Ortiz, the trade will never happen. I am willing to give up young and controllable, but only to a point. Maybe... Santana plus Corey Ray Luis Ortiz Cody Ponce Marco Diplan or Kodi Medieros With this, I actually think we should get something back. maybe Dan Jennings?
  5. Not even close. If Archer is coming to Milwaukee, Santana plus likely at least one top 100 prospect are going to Tampa Bay. And that other piece would be Burnes or Ortiz or both. I don't want Archer that bad.
  6. What about Jake Odorizzi from TB? He is projected at about 6-7 million this year with one year of arby remaining. Does this sound fair? We take on a little extra salary, they get more years of service. D Santana for J Odorizzi D Jennings Then sign Walker for second base and trade Villar and Broxton for a prospect. Our payroll would sit at about $107 million. 2 Anderson, 2 Odorizzi, 3 Chancin, 4 Davies and 5 Gallardo until Nelson comes back then 2 Anderson, 2 Nelson, 2 Odorizzi, 3 Chancin and 4 Davies. Cain cf Yelich lf Braun rf Shaw 3b Thames 1b Pina c Walker 2b Pitcher Arcia ss
  7. Nick has resigned for 2018. Hope he can repeat 2017.
  8. Anybody have any news on him. I saw him close a game a couple of years ago at AA and he was spectacular.
  9. 2018 $16.0 million 2019 $14.5 million 2020 $13.0 million 2021 $13.0 million with $2.5 million team buyout option 4 year $56.5 million or 3 year $46.0 million Anymore and I think I would pass.
  10. Add in Wang and Yungman We have a number of AAAA arms that will fill in nicely in our pen. No need to go nutso in a year we will not be in a contention position. One quality reliever should hold us over until the trade deadline. "we will not be in contention". So you have the ability to look into the future? Essentially the same roster was one game short of playoffs last year. Your plan {go with AAAA arms) assures them of not being in contention. Sure perhaps they'll find one or two among their system who'll emerge as a late inning option, but odds are that will be after a number get tried and fail dooming the season. I'm frankly dumbfounded that at the same time they are entertaining spending big dollars on a FA starter or using multiple assets to trade for one that they won't pay the going rate to bolster their pen. We're two months from spring training and there is no 8th inning set up man on this roster and most of the FA options are off the board. I am seeing YOGA in our future plans. Maybe a starter maybe a reliever. Unlike most people here I thinks he may rebound.
  11. It wouldn't take a lot for us to dip down to 73 wins. We won 86 but we're going to be without Nelson for an undetermined amount of time and if he gets back during the season it will probably just be to get some innings, not expecting ace like production. That's probably a 3-4 win drop and we're already down to 82 or 83 wins. If Anderson regresses to say a 1.5 WAR pitcher (last year's 3.3 WAR was more than he accumulated in 400+ innings over his career previously) then we could be in for another 2 win drop and we're down to 80 or 81. Knebel could regress, Santana could regress, Shaw could regress, Braun could get hurt and all of those things happening and they aren't as far fetched as some think, then we're probably in the 72-75 win range. Now obviously we could get breakouts from Arcia, Phillips, Brinson etc to push the win total back up but you had a lot of guys that are older doing things they never came close to doing before, so projections are probably going to have them regressing to somewhere between what they had done prior to last year and what they did last year and weighted closer to the lower end because there's more of a sample size of production or lack thereof. Don't forget the likely uptick in having Woodruff over Garza or Peralta having starts. The win change from #4/5 whomever that may end up being(Hader/FA sign/Trade?) That is one thing I'm looking forward out of this club and from within the minors, are the quality additions to a #4 or #5. I do expect Anderson to regress back some to his norm, but then again, maybe that is offset by play from Villar. Aguilar/Pina could be strong regress candidates. I'd still like to think the team is closer to 80wins than 70 wins with a bright future/more upside than regression concerns. Add one starter (Archer) ane bullpen arm and sign Walker 3/30.. I personally like trading with the Marlins for S. Castro and Urina. I think they would do that for a 4 prospect deal. Then sign a reliever who had a bad 2017, but good 2014-2016.

  13. Any thoughts on this, maybe add a piece or two?
  14. Seems like a fair deal. I am sure they would take Brinson.
  15. Wily Peralta Clone.
  16. How about Broxton and Villar and other pieces (Ortez?) for Starlin Castro and Jose Urena? They shed salary again, we fill 2b and controllable starting pitcher.
  17. Good point. He was our best pitcher this time last year.
  18. 1. Brandon Woodruff 2. Keston Hiura 3. Corbin Burnes 4. Lewis Brinson 5. Brett Phillips 6. Freddy Peralta 7. Mauricio Dubon 8. Tristen Lutz 9. Lucas Erceg 10. Isan Diaz 11. Luis Ortiz 12. 19. If they cut him he cannot get on the mound.
  20. Just cut him and stop all the rest of it.
  21. Fast forward to the fourth inning.... Can we cut him now?
  22. When can we just cut Garza and end the insanity?
  23. If there was a guy I would put on the 40 man roster, it would be Nick Ramirez. He needs to be put there during the off season anyway, so why not just call him up and see what he can do. Corbin could then get called up to AAA and paly in the playoffs with CS.
  24. Ramirez--- please sign, put on the 40 man roster or whatever you have to do to keep him. Barrios--- please sign, he was so good before he got hurt. Cravy--- I was high on him, like Sutor, but now the shine has wore off of him. Peralta---do not dismiss him just yet, but if goes, oh well. The rest of them---they can stay or they can go.
