  1. Anyone see the Lilly for Happ rumor. Love to get Happ for Bush and a minor leaguer.
  2. We sure as heck better trade Dave Bush. We have umpteen starters to fill in for the rest of the year, and need to clear a spot on the big league roster anyway. He'll have enough value, maybe not as much as we'd hope, but enough to get something worthwhile (a starter at high A or AA that might project as a three for instance).
  3. Hudson was not the centerpiece. Beckham would have had to have been for any Fielder deal (and then he'd have likely been shipped elsewhere for a true 1/2 starter). Hudson was simply one of about four names that we'd need to take (probably two of the four) along with Beckham to make a deal work.
  4. Good possibility JB. I wonder if we could deal the Sox Bush and Counsell for Hudson, assuming Hudson has another bad start his next time out?
  5. We don't need to be going after someone on a major league roster necessarilly. Someone capable of helping us in Nashville or Huntsville this year would be fine. We are going nowhere this year, so why do we need major league roster bodies for certain. Sounds like Doug is passing on Erwin Santana and getting ready to deal Prince for Cordero, Mench, and Nix... Maybe Gamel will be the throw in that we add as a sweetener to get three major league guys back in a trade.
  6. Good point, I'd do a slight add to just offering Hart if it meant we could land Belt and Wheeler.
  7. I am a fan of Meche in a junk for junk trade. I know he's hurt now, but he "could" be better than what a lot of teams trot out there as even a 3 or 4 starter.
  8. Daniel Hudson was atrocious in his start this afternoon for the Sox. It's just one start, but I'd need all three of Hudson, Beckham, and Viciedo at this point. Not sure I even like that deal...
  9. San Francisco Chronicle says the Giants have an interest in lefty middle reliever Will Ohman of the O's. With us having a glut of lefties and Stetter in AAA, might we be able to fill their need here and package one with Hart to maybe make a Bumgarner or Sanchez/Wheeler trade more realistic? Sorry TLB. Admittedly, I haven't looked at Gamel's stats, probably since sometime in early June. Good to hear he's playing well. I'll go check stats now.
  10. Wouldn't mind a buy-low on Jordan Schaefer in a Braves deal. He just got demoted today to AA. Maybe we can swap underachieving prospects with the Braves to include him in the deal (an underachieving prospect not including anyone named Mat).
  11. While I agree Rydogg, two things make a three team deal almost probable. If Doug is hell-bent on getting Beckham and Hudson in any deal with the Whitesox and Williams finally caves in, you can almost bet for certain that Beckham would immediately be peddled for a stud young pitcher.
  12. A poster on the Brewers.com site from the Red Sox wonders what we'd need to deal Hart there. Would Lars Anderson and Michael Bowden be a good enough haul. Anderson could take over for Prince at first and Bowden may well have #3 starter potential and will be controllable for five years. Thoughts on this proposal???
  13. Not sure dad is connected to Detroit at all, so probably not a big deal. And Prince hardly seems like a guy that can't handle the "pressure" of matching dad's homeruns of the past.
  14. With the Braves, I am pretty sure we'd need Minor to work a deal. We're much more likely to add a slight piece along with Hart to get Minor than to trade with the Braves for anything else.
  15. After doing a search, it appears Villanova might have murdered some guy. Maybe I should hope for a different first base prospect...
  16. Does anyone have a scouting report for Giants 1B prospect Angel Villalona? He'd be a nice add for us if we decided on Sanchez or Wheeler as the centerpiece of a Hart deal...
  17. I would guess maybe the Dodgers are the mystery team. Lots of uncertainty with Ramirez, even though he's an outfielder, which would lead me to believe they'd like a big time slugger sooner than later. Any chance Loney can convert to a corner outfield position?
  18. Heyman tweeted forty five minutes ago that Fielder is atop the Whitesox wishlist and that the others are being talked about as backup plans. Also, DeJesus might be out a couple weeks for KC, theoretically making Hart all the more valuable to contenders...
  19. I think I'd go Hudson, Viciedo, Santos, and either Morel or Flowers if we can't do both Hudson and Beckham. I think we should be able to expand a trade though to throw in a starter (Bush maybe) and an infielder (Counsell) to be able to get us Hudson, Beckham, and Viciedo. That'd be ideal.
  20. Sergio Santos would be a nice guy to get in the deal. He's a rookie with a 1.88 era this year and more K's (32) than innings pitched (28). They have a great bullpen anyway so probably could give him up. We'd have him for five more years after this year too (and he'd be another guy to help us cheapen our bullpen and still have it remain solid so we can spend elsewhere).
  21. MLBTR seems to think, if I am reading between the lines correctly, that CWS would deal Hudson and Viciedo for Dunn. If that's the case, Doug had better be talking with Kenny Williams quite a bit. We should be able to get that and something else (and Prince should be much preferred over Dunn by Williams as well).
  22. Viciedo would be ours for 5-6 years at cheap or reasonable salaries. That to me is more important than if he's older than 21. Obviously, if he were 31, that's a pretty big red flag but that likely isn't the case. But if you can get me Viciedo along with Beckham and Hudson for a package of Fielder, Counsell, and Bush, I am a happy guy.
  23. I think Hudson and Beckham for Fielder is a solid trade to probably pull the trigger on if offered. However, adding Beckham sure would complicate our infield picture even more, and with Lawrie on the cusp soon as well.
  24. Why trade Gamel at this point? We'd be selling low for sure. Not even saying he'll ever for sure become a major league regular, but we aren't going to get anything good for him. So I'd much rather hold onto him and see if his bat becomes really potent.
  25. I'd like to know if Atlanta will give us Minor for Hart if we take Kawakami in the deal as well. I'd do that and then ship out Dave Bush. Makes a ton of sense if they'd do it.
