  1. I may be in the minority in my thinking of this as well as some other opinions, but I am pretty certain that Soup's role next year will be of the long reliever/6th starter variety. There will be too much pressure on too many people to pencil him into our five man rotation next year, regardless of what his salary is going to be.
  2. Harang is about the best buy-low guy in baseball. It would be phenomenal to get him even if we need to sweeten a Hall deal a bit.
  3. Our team seems to win when Looper starts more than any other pitcher. Could be luck. I'd maybe lean that way. But I know we don't hit when Yovanni pitches and we do when Looper pitches, so we might as well ride it out with him this year. (Oh and I'm not saying pull Yovanni from the rotation obviously, just that I'd keep Looper in it).
  4. I'd like to do Hall and Hardy for Harang. We can pay whatever we have to to make them bite on the deal, but at least it wouldn't add a boatload of money to our team.
  5. I think that's the problem Invader. "They" are going with the veterans too much and for too long. Gamel could be our third best bat by now after Fielder and Braun if he was treated right. Escobar could have beaten Hardy's stats THIS year and thus improved our team, not to mention having a Bucholtz in our rotation for instance makes us THAT much better. Salome is right after those two, but replacing a far worse player. Whether he's "ready" or not, he's the one we need to turn to (as it's really not going to make us any worse imho).
  6. Not really constant turnover. But you should definitely turnover about two players of your starting nine (or eight) each year roughly imho. And you should replace the two that might get you the best pitching when you know going into the season your team really needs it bad. And you probably should sell high on the two that you do decide to trade. We had our entire starting corps from last year this year as far as everyday players. And a bad starting rotation.
  7. I guess we can try and do a bigger trade with NYY. My point is more that it appears the teams GM's might be quite far apart on the value of their own players.
  8. Yeah, I guess I'd be on board with flipping them Dillard or something like that. But that'd be about the best.
  9. Brings me back to the "If the Packers can survive the Favre drama..." this will be so minor and have such slight ramifications in the future.
  10. Not exactly M2S. Davis fits both molds, as he was a Ranger before he was a Brewer.

  16. I just think you can argue JJ belongs down there for a full month. Let me ask you this....if the plan is to play Escobar at SS everyday for Milwaukee for a month and JJ was not in his "free agency situation" and not hitting real well in AAA, do we make sure he comes up September first? The obvious answer is "no". So, if that's how the situation plays out, that's the way it should go for JJ in my opinion. Put his free agency aside and do what's best for us this season and what makes the most sense regardless of free agency.
  17. Brewer Fever - how is this that much different than keeping major league ready players in AAA an extra year to delay their free agency? Some even wanted Escobar down another year next year so we could control him until 29 or 30. He has an agent too that has other players I am sure. I think it wouldn't make JJ and his agent that happy, but I hardly see a backlash. And I definitely see both scenarios being right or both being wrong (talking of the current JJ situation and my Escobar scenario here_.
  18. Maybe Mark A is calling the shots now though X. I think he'd have the stones to do it (if he realizes the situation).
  19. How is this that much different than those that wanted to keep JJ through next year and keep Escobar down in the minors an extra year (to essentially delay his free agency too)? Is it because JJ is somewhat proven despite only proving he should be playing AAA ball all year this year? Is it fair to keep minor leaguers that are ready to play in the majors down in the minors so that we control them longer? I think if one is fair, then the other is fair too. Maybe I am in the minority.
  20. We can still control him through 2011 based on keeping him down there and we are playing for nothing today basically anyway.
  21. How would his free agency work should he happen to get hurt in AAA now that he's been demoted and can't come back til say mid-September?
  22. I'd have a hard time believing you can't throw six of those AAA guys into the order with Braun and Fielder and win more games than the current outfit the past two months anyway.
  23. I think as long as Doug is around, a major trade with NYY might be unlikely based on how Cashman tried to rape us on the Cameron deal, we might as well seek out another partner.
